Something doesn't add up here...

Sounds to me that if the site is run like that, you shouldn't want to be a member anyway. Find a different math forum and move on.

You might also want to change your posting style if you've now been banned from two forums. đź’ˇ

Lesson number one, don't try to get other users here involved. Last time someone tried that, they got the boot.

Ok, I got this e-mail reply:

"Hi,

It was probably an "IP address" block and nothing to do with you.

What is your IP address? (google "IP address"),

Yours, $$$ $$$$$"

Right...

One dedicated to math.

Sounds like it maybe just an innocent mistake then, you may have a similar IP to an un-trustworthy site, web bot, person and the the mod might just re-instate your IP for you.

Hopefully he replies with his IP Addy.

As well going to this extreme to get back on should say something about your dedication. So hopefully it all works out.

What I see here is that the thrust of the bust wasn't proportional to the mass of the arse - so the angle of the dangle wasn't constant.

You may have been accidentally caught in a troll net. Maybe you should examine your posting style, as others have noted, to be less representative or connectable to anything generally considered trolling. As well - if you are new there; tread softly. There may be long running feuds abundant, and you could involve yourself unknowingly by siding with known trolls.

Stick to GTPlanet, man. It's a great place, with incredibly patient, decent, wise and quite often very kind moderators whose sense of humour and wealth of knowledge enrich these threads.

Hope you progress. Mathematically.

So should I e-mail my IP? There is no risk right?

I can't see where it would be a risk. All forums admins and some mods can see the IP's of all the users.

I'd say no worries.

Pheew, at least resolved!

The thing was an accident because my IP was similar to a spammers IP.

Not that anyone would expect an absence of accuracy from a math forum!

I was banned one on my main forum for posting porn.
It was a mistake though, and I was unbanned 2 hours later.

Well, anyway I still remember fondly my ban and the characterization "crackpot".

It was a physics forum and I proposed whether the 11 dimensions supported by String Theory had a link to the number 11 being prime.
They accused me of gematria but clearly my suggestion was not out of the blue. Gematria is something else, like astrology, it's like religion.
But If mathematics is a mirror of reality then the properties of numbers carry out to reality as well!

On the other hand, I also posted a thread challenging whether mathematics suffices to understand all of physics, the big quest for the "theory of everything". Needless to say it was a flamewar with the biggest argument that of the astounding success of mathematics till now.
However, mathematics arises from observation of our macroworld, and there is no reason to believe its power holds the furthest we dwelve to the microworld. A hope for things to be like that does not make them that way and it's not scientific to answer affirmatively.

So, they were refuting themselves. Either one is true or the other. Who's the "crackpot" now?

I've been banned from one other forum before. In all honesty, I deserved it, because for some reason, I decided to mock the entire subject that the froum was based on.
It resulted in the entire forum member-list verbally attacking me, and a ban a few minutes later. Now THAT wasa flame war. :D

What forum was it, btw?

I've only ever had a temp ban at one forum before. It was at IGN over ten years ago. They created a subforum for pretty much every game. Myself and a few users found a subforum that had been open for months with zero activity, so we decided to post there as a joke. It seemed like a funny idea when I was 13/14.

Our posts were sarcastic along the lines of "OMG this is my favouritest game ever"

This went on for a few months and in the end, all members involved got a two day vacation. Although myself and another user had to wait 5 days for the unban. Our ban specifically stated two days, but they never got round to it.

Banned from a forum (permanently) for an observation... I was on it for 2 years, and only then realised that one of the moderators avatar was a .gif and blinked which creeped me out at first! Stated so (in clearly a funny gesture way) and I was banned on the spot. I didn't know at the time, just couldn't log in next time I tried. Had to email the forum owner to find out why (twice, first time nicely.... second time justified for the lack of response to first), since there was no message at all.

Glad to now belong to a far better forum which is much clearer and better run! :D Glad you're issue was resolved with no mutual understandings.

Alot of people come to this forum hating Gran Turismo and they don't get banned, they just get bashed. :p

I'm proud to say that I have never been banned from anywhere or even had so much as a warning.

But I am glad you got the issue sorted.
