This is the place left for the screw:

None. Had to unscrew it to cut it. Dremel was already at home,... forth- back- cut, installed, fits.
the painted tow hook is so overkill. Love it
Didn't forget @CAMAROBOY69 -san

Pain getting there, had to put some on the tip of the finger and massage it in  Will pass with underbody seal over it....
Getting the ring into the seal =

Leaves the trunk and the locks (so the parts stay on while transporting) and then it can return home
Really starting to come together and yes getting the fitment just right can be a massive pain. That's why I suggested taping every seam to prevent chipping in case it makes contact.

I taped a tshirt around the door seam while mounting ;) 👍

Screws on the fender survived unharmed, but one screw at the back (the screw that holds the lifter) clipped while screwing. I put tape aound the key, but an egde just clipped :(
Gonna do the Qtip pratice there too :D

Soooo,......

Getting there... sometime

You can see the light on the last pic, a lot less orange peel already.

And see @CAMAROBOY69 a wild squeegee doing it's business ;)

Pondering of test compounding an area to see if I am already satisfied with "a few" cavities in them.... how the cavities react (in relation to their deepness)....

But having better light, an warm water really makes this more bearable.

But the car could be 20cm higher.... would be better for the back, after 30 minutes bend down sanding, getting up..... :scared:

Nice you are getting closer and closer for sure. Looking smoother every day and its great to hear you have access to better light and warm water for wet sanding.

Yes if you want to buff out a spot to see if you are satisfied with a few cavities here and there, that's perfectly fine. And you will be shocked how fast it buffs too so go easy with it. It will only take a couple minutes and it will be a glass finish. Then if you are not satisfied with a few cavities here and there, you can just sand those areas again until smooth. Be careful buffing around the edges, one wrong move and the buffer could catch an edge and rip the clear and paint right off. Just buff on a slow speed, tape edges and corners, and take your time.

As for bringing the car 20cm higher, why not jack the car up onto jack stands to ease the back pain? I would also recommend a short seat to sit on while sanding. For the very low areas I use a padded garage creeper to sit on.

Thanks.

Yeah warm water changes everything :D

Before polish, I fill still fill in the deeper cavities. Now is a good moment, because on the hood I have a lot of different sanding stages. Deeper cavities, light one, and none. Polishing that will show me how everything holds up, what depth of cavities is acceptable.... Then I know exactly how far I sand it....

The paint feels smooth when water is on, no orange peel feel anymore. Only when it's dry and only withthe tip of a finger I feel the cavities. Whole hand on the car, feels good :D

For sitting, I have a bit of syropore cubes, but when I sit I have the feeling my wirst is in a wierd angle to sand. Plus I don't move as much while sitting, thus not playing with the light beam (if that makes sense). Have to bite through

End of the weekend I should be rather far in the sanding process ;)

The Rupes is not forced driven like the flex, thus a bit saver for edges, but yeah gone tape them off to be sure.

A bit more...

I do constantly fear on grinding through though. Biggest fear ever....

The headliner, never ending story, .... certain parts are even unavailable for the audi dealer in germany. Audi Tradition network was down for a week, so I only got the confirmation this week...
Only the sunvisors are available brand new ....

Ordered B column, handles, lamps and buttons on ebay now. Used.... They looked okayish in the pics... we'll see

Last edited:
What do you need for the headliner? We have an S3 at work that we use for parts, I could see if I can sort out some stuff for you if you need it. Although with you being in a different country I'm not sure what shipping prices would be like, especially if you want the whole headliner.

Thanks for the offer Katiegan 👍

Take a pic of the headlines please. Don't think it will be the "one", but a pic doesn't cost a thing nowadays :D
(black, sunroof, facelift, no headairbags)

I could probably use some other parts I have problems finding....

Take a few pics of the car's interior, so I see the condition of it.

One thing I probably could use, is the plastic cover that are on the doorlocks (inner), but just one. Audi has one side in stock. Other side unavailable :ouch:

👍

On the car, reverted back to 1000 grid for the still untouched parts, now on the 1500. Whole car is presanded at 1500 now. Partially smooth.... now to getting out the last cavities... then 2000 then 3000

Soooooo much work

Ah, the one we're breaking for parts is silver and a pre-facelift model. We did actually have a black facelift model a few weeks ago but we scrapped that one.

Depending on what else you need I might be able to sort out something, but a lot of the parts we have we keep for ourselves.

^Understandably. The parts are becoming rare. Luckily lots of parts are the same one the normal A3, but not all.
If I need something I can't find I shoot you a message.
Thanks 👍

Today I did half of the roof, very close, already on 2000 grid

(that's not polished by the way  )

This is where the 2 halfs of the roof meet

Mmmm, I love the smell of progress in the morning. Beautiful paint, all this hard work will definitely pay off as you'll have one of the nicest S3's on the planet. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Let's quickly talk a bit GTR

During the past months my guy was looking to find a buyer for mine. He wasn't happy with the quotes gives, but it's more than I thaught, soooo....

Now for a replacement

10550911_10204023493462131_710805576783285025_n.jpg

(original Nismo Wheels in the back, sold with the car :D )
This. Difference in price is still "big" but doable

Later tonight I will send the owner a pm for spec list. What I know, lots of parts in it, new interior, dual clutch, apexi ecu.....
Most importantly, already registered in the EU.

If this goes like it should, my driveway will be pure gasm in the summer :D

Still pondering on the R34, but this is way more affordable, and I love R33

Love those Rota p45r! :sly:
 Just kidding. R33s in purple, grey, black or red look amazing, yours is no exception. I'm about as excited as you are to see your lineup once you get the R and the S3 finished. 👍

agreeing on the colours. I like the white ones too, but it's the most common ones.

Those Nismo Magnesium wheels are worth a small fortune. Awesome wheels.

Yeah they are :D

The spec list reads like pure porn if you into kind of stock cars.

History fully known of the car. From the first owner in Japan on... I will be the 4th owner.
The car is so clean, it is currently sitting at the Nissan Heritage Museum in Belgium with the posted R34 above. Both prime exemples of the species.

I will be in holidays soon, sanding should find an end soonish too. I will certainly take a day to drive up to the car and visit it in flesh (end december, rather beginning jan.)

Need to look when I grab it (it will be this one, if no other bought it away under my nose). Winter has been pretty mellow here till now. If it's like last year it's spring in feb. which would be awesome...

You don't mind a few pics moar?

The bodyshell is nearly there. Only some spots left with very fine cavities.

Rear bumper needs a bit more scuffing. The front bumper is nearly untrouched still. And all the small pieces to do still. But the bodyshell is the biggest part. And that's nearly done. And it looks sooo good.
My Rupes gets eager already

So after going MIA from GTPlanet for over a year, the first thread I decided to revisit was this one. My god that Audi looks really good now, especially since the last time I saw it, it looked like a bruised eggplant!

I'm kinda sorry to hear about the GTR though :(

That R33... Oh my god. How on earth did you find one so clean?!

Thanks. Well after tumbling upon a criminal moron dealer, I am now with one that practices GTR's since the 90's in Europe. That's a long way.

Thanks man, welcome back  bruised eggplant

GTR no new news. Holidays and all. But as said, if not an other buyer steals it from under my nose, it's mine.

S3:

I do pics with the dslr before new year.

On the bodyshell only the trunklid is unfinished. The rest, smooth as glass.

Tomorrow I hope that I finish the rear bumper too.

If that's the case, most is done. The rest is small stuff, like the sideskirts, I don't go for a flat finish underneath....

So before the end of the year, you gonna see the bodyshell in a very nice state :D

And it won't take long before it is polished now....

Have you thought about using the roof lining of a related car such as a Volkswagen Golf or a Seat Leon MK1 to save money on the roof lining?

^Yeah, but it doesn't fit, and same problem as the S, seems VAG leaves cars to die after 12 years.
Though I will write Audi a letter about it and also complain at my german dealer.
Especially for S and RS models it makes no sense. They could ask ridicoulous prices, just built them!
The darn Samba bus still gets support from VW after all these years. Why not RS or S models.
Especially the S3 was Audi's first step into that specific market. It opened the door for the RS3, Q3, S3 SB, S3 sedan, A1, S1, A1 quattro,.... It's your heritage Audi!!! It worries me knowing that a crash with the S3 will mean it's inevitable death....

Little update
First update 2015 (I know I forgotten the pics  )

Bodyshell, rear bumper are done at 2000 grid. (plus some small parts)
No cavities left apart from the deep ones.

And that's what I am gonna do today. Fill them up. Watched Larry's video a few times the last days. Hope it's as easy as it looks :D

I have no clue how long it takes, but it worries me that Larry says "up to a week" :O

Hope that tomorrow it's done. Then a pass with 3000. Polish.

*Will look to upload a few pics today ;)

Much easier than taught

20150106_142228_zps4427c422.jpg

Mixing the clear with a syringe (7.5ml total)
Also added elastifier. Just the same mix as the rest of the car, so no material tension is created.

20150106_142235_zps3eb40e91.jpg

Scuffed the cavities

20150106_142242_zps525b743c.jpg

Pro tip from Larry, use pain correction tips, bite of the front

20150106_142324_zps607ee3c8.jpg

Filled up all the holes on one fender and it's drying right now

20150106_143031_zps28b15433.jpg

As soon as dried, next panel
