Technically it could be a kidnapping, although in this case the 'victim' went with the marine voluntarily, so it probably isn't.

Bit of an unsual case - he's clearly gone over there on false pretences (how big a hit on your ego to be sucked into flying to Europe by a 12 yo - still, at least she was a girl. Imagine if it was some hairy-backed 400 pound guy!).
The last I heard was:

July 12, Studabaker and Pennington meet at Manchester airport
The couple take a flight to London Heathrow, arriving around 1700 GMT
The pair board at flight from Heathrow to Paris Charles de Gaulle, arriving at 1900 GMT
The trail goes cold - but he has apparently called the FBI at Detroit to turn himself in (indicating he's not harmed or touched her). She's alleged to have taken a flight back to Liverpool, but the British police are dubious that it was her.
