If PD was able to get the Mclaren FINA

I really don't have clue, so thats why I'm asking:
Wouldn't it be possible to open up GT4P, find the file for the MacLaren, then take it and transfer it onto a partially copied version of the real GT4 when it comes out?

I don't know how illegal that is but it would be really cool.

Heh heh, picky about cars are we? Well the way I see it is, yes the McLarens perform a little different, as do all cars, but are you really getting the "sensation" of driving them? No ... you don't feel the leather on your but, or the closeness of the cockpit.

I again will stress my desire for more tracks and state that the car collection in GT3 is "ample for me".

It would be cool to see McLarens zipping around in replays though (:

The way the nose looks on that in game screenshot of the Fina McLaren looks a little out of shape cause last time I checked the nose on the F1 gtr is longer then that and also a bit lower in the front

That looks about right to me, how low it is depends on suspension settings, but the F1 has a very short nose including the F1 FINA GTR.

The headlights are kinda weird too I've seen a real McLaren F1 and the headlights don't have bubble like bulges coming up on the headlights. The headlights are smooth and blend in with the shape of the nose

The last pic you showed is the one that the in game screenshot of the F1 is supposed to be so like I said they messed up with the headlights. If you look at the in game screenshot then the last pic you posted you'll notice the're the same exact car the only difference is the headlights and number. McLaren never made a GTR Longtail with those bubble headlights.

No it's not, it's just that models messed up. There are longtail and short tail versions of both models, the one in GT4P is the longtail version with the bulging lights. The front is the same on both longtails, and then it's different on the short tails.

That's a Scale Model of a F1 Longtail it that doesn't mean that a longtail GTR with the bubble headlights exists. Plus I said show me a real pic of one with the bubble headlights not some pic of a scale model!.

As you may think, when I come along, I'm the softest guy on GTPlanet when someone makes "stupid comments." But it's like I said,any McLaren, even the JGTC models would still mean that McLaren is in the game with its flagship car.

ScarredGoth wanted to find an F1 with bubble lights and I'm not sure whether or not he looked online first. You see, the "bubble light" McLaren of mention is one that either Goth couldn't find online beforehand, or just wanted to see in GT4. Whatever the case, if someone make a car like it, chances are that someone will find a copy and show it off. Whether or not it will be in GT4 to accomodate Goth's interests is unknown. And not to be mean, but, I don't think the type of headlights matter. It's just like some muscle cars. Some people like to think they are ugly-looking, despite the fact that they possess serious horsepower. Another example of little things compared to big concepts is a girl who wants a car to be in a purple or pink color, then have "Princess" decals on the rear bumper and as a windshield sticker, and if there isn't a car that can be customized like that, the girl couldn't care less. Personally, I like the regular style headlights. I don't know if bubble lights project better or not, but I personally like the original ones. They have a mean, muscular, masculine appearance. As long as no one comes out with bug lights for it, then I'm okay with whatever McLaren is out there.

Like I said, I think ScarredGoth knew what he was looking for when it comes to a McLaren F1 with a distinct feature (in this case, bubble lights). One thing you have to realize is that PD went out of their way to make things as accurate and realistic as possible. No matter what anyone thinks, Polyphony Digital is doing their best and then some. I don't think it will kill anyone's enthusiasm for Gran Turismo 4 if there isn't a GTR (McLaren F1 GTR, that is) with bubble lights. A McLaren is a McLaren is a McLaren. If you want one with such lights, that's fine. It's the same thing as a man who drives a candy red 2002 Mustang GT as a girl who wants a Mustang GT in pink and with almost anything a girl wants to dress up on it (singing) "What a girl wants... what a girl needs..." I'm not the American Pop type, but Christina Aguilera does have a cute belly.

Anyhow, if you want to see a McLaren F1 with bubble lights in GT4, then that's fine. Even if you don't get one, you still get a powerful car from Britain. A VERY powerful one at that. One that can still smoke the Ferrari Enzo despite less power and a lower top speed. Anyhow, next thread, please. Going to play me some TXR3...

McLaren isn't BMW, it's not owned by BMW. It's McLaren using Benz engines, whats odd about that, the F1 team is called McLaren Mercedes. The only connection to BMW is a few BMW backed racing teams, and the engine in the F1 road cars and F1 GTR race cars.

Because the McLaren F1 has a BMW powerplant. It's possible that the only reason this car is in the game is the fact that it was run by BMW Motorsports, hence PD went through licensing with PD and not McLaren themselves.

However, the McLaren logo is still clearly there on the right, so they'd need McLaren's permission to at least use that.

I guess you ment to say PD went through licensing with BMW, and not McLaren themselves.

So, just how much of McLaren does BMW own? The entire company, and do they get to decide all legal and business decisions? Or, is McLaren completely independent? I figure, PD going to BMW to ask for a license to put a car in a video game, when BMW makes the engine only, seems like something that could get PD in big trouble.

BMW owns nothing of McLaren. However BMW Motorsport did buy and run two McLaren F1 GTRs.

This is similar to the reasoning for the Diablo in GT3, it was through licensing of the JLOC Team, not Lamborghini themselves.
