If they have penalties for alot of races in the final game, Im gonna punch someone in the face. But if they have that performance point system for each race, Im going to kill somebody.

I can understand why you would object to the penalty system, but what are your objections to the PP system? Obviously there are some exceptions (some cars being way too good), but I think it works pretty good overall.

Where do you live again?

Of course, you could just drive better.

Frustration and GT(1,2,3,4,5) go hand in hand. Some races seem too hard, some seem simply impossible. In my experience, if you keep on trying and try to have fun while you're at it, you'll suddenly find yourself winning that impossible race. Sounds a bit to zen maybe, but it works.

Yep, sometimes you must push less hard to get the results you want. :)

I was trying to do the s race with the ferrarif40(pass in 1 lap) and I came in 4th. But My only problem with the pp system, is I have the cars to win alot of these s races, but they limit me with the points. And I hate that. I have to add weight take away power just to meet the requirements.
And in the full version in particular. I LOVE to save up and add parts to the car im using and Destroy races. I would hate to put all of my money into a car, and not be able to use it. I know I can race arcade but I'm trying to get money. and in the full version I better be able to race the f1 car in races for money. Basically its like you pulling up to a raceway with a bugatti, and the people there tell you to go home because your cars to fast. I mean C'MON!!!Nothing bothers me more about this game. Still love it though.

I live in New Jersey which isnt far from you, so take it easy. And I think my driving is fantastic. I also use a wheel. I just hate getting short cut penalties when I get bumped off the road, or collision because someone stops in front of me.

i think the pp system works well, like mentioned there need to be some more tweaking for some cars. but in general all car will have strong and weaks points in thoses races. IRL there is the precise same thing going on, engines need to be tweaked down a little/more weight etc in order to make the race interesting for the spectators/audience.

i remember (and you know if you watch WTCC) that some cars had 8 bhp less then other cars so they where slower then the cars who had more, but on some circuits that doens't really matter for al the cornering.

like said i like the PP system but i would like to have some more options, and yes buying parts in the full game is a must because it was so much fun. but thene again keeping those parts and add some weight or not.. should be fun too

You people should stop fussing about the penalty system and just drive the car right, that's the only way you're going to defeat the unfair penalties that you experience, plus we need this penalty system to keep cheaters at a minimum

You do know that GT games have chromatic and audio sensors built in? When your face turns purple and your heart rate reaches 200bpm, the tyres achieve maximum grip and your car gets a 10% power boost.

I don't think PD would put the PP system in Gran Turismo Mode. I think it'll have a nice place in both arcade and online modes, though.

well, now I know what "pp" means.

KillerShadow is like a lot of us that get controller throwing frustrated over the hyper pickiness that goes with Gran Turismo. when your use to a game where the only thing you have to worry about is your turn timing, and when to use the brakes, a complicated game like the GT's can throw you for a loop.

this is why they call this game a Simulator! it's the stuff you'd have to put up with in real life.

I have an excuse. i got into RL driving very late, was taught that cars are for getting back and forth to work in, and found out the hard way that even basic maintenance costs a fortune. none of the car guys came near me 'cause they were too cool to hang out with a "nerd" class kid who didn't have Gasoline in his veins from birth.

this is why older guys are so lucky. they came from an era when cars were classified as a "treat", rather than an "appliance".

and please remember
IT"S ONLY a GAME

i know what you are saying. i hate getting slammed in a braking zone so hard that it shoves me into the car in front of me and i get a penalty while the car behind me doesn't. i have an answer to all our trouble......... private rooms.

for the race with the F40: u need to be 2nd in the straight before the chicane, then u cut the chicane and u put your car in front of the gtr(you will have a penalty, but the gtr won't pass u if your close the door!!) and your first

Hate to break it to you Killer (lol) but that's exactly what would happen in real life if your Bugatti didn't meet the requirements for the race. There are damn few "run whacha brung" races. Most have strict rules for what cars, modifications, tires, weight, fuel, etc can be used.

If you want to DESTROY some races, then get the F2007 and go run the A-class events. That should be fun for about 30 seconds.

Actually with Spec III you can pass the Black Mask coming out of the spoon.

I think the need for penalties will mostly disappear after we get full realistic damage. If you hit the wall you are punished by a damaged car that will slow down your time - no need for a rev limiter penalty. As for punishing for shortcuts GT should just follow the Forza model and make the shortcuts death traps if you drive into them - either a big bump that will send you flying and damage your suspension or a sand trap that bogs you right down.

As for the PP - it's about time we've had something like this. I hated how in the old GT's you could just drop turbo stage 4 or whatever into a car and just blow the competition away - it took any challenge out of it. By implementing the PP system into the upgrades, sure you can add those parts - but you have a limit and it keeps the competition tighter.

That said it annoys me that AI cars are in races with PP limits that are over the limit, and we really need qualifying or stand still starts. A rolling start with you in 16th every time means you have to have an abnormally fast car to have a chance. I don't find it realistic that every race I'm running from the back to the front, I'd rather have closer races where I'm fighting for 5 spots, if I qualify bad I'm probably not going to get that top spot unless I drive my tail off etc.

What you've described is much more realistic, in my opinion, than the system PD implemented in GT5P. Although, I'm thankful there is some kind of system in place.

Maybe PD will continue to tweak the game and listen to the serious racers. Then again, that may drive away the casual gamers. And, in the end it all comes down to profitability........sales being king of the day. That being noted, we may never get to a completely realistic sim that pleases the hardcore racers here. Still, I love this game.
