I won't be visiting GTPlanet anymore (at least until I am 18).

This is my last post for a long time at GTP, I will not be able to reply to any questions you have.

Because of my dad thinking GTP is full of Virus-making, Computer Hacking, Emo people and people who don't take care of themselves, he has banned me from this site until I am 18, and out of this house.

I will also not be able to visit any other forums (i.e. Accel, THGF, UFG.) except my site; PetPlanet, so if you need me, you will find me there, I will not be on any Instant messenger applications anymore, as my dad has also removed those from all computers, and the sites to get them are banned.

This is a great site, full of great people and great information, and I hope it stays alive until I am 18 and can get back on.

So, goodbye GTPlanet, and if you are still here, I'll see y'all when I'm 18.

From,
Chris.

OVER PROTECTIVE PARENT OR WHAT!!

And i thought i had it bad :S

Good luck with whatever between now and then :)

Hacks?

No offense, but yo daddy - ftmfl.

I'd turn the tables on his ass and say...

No more car for you, it pollutes the air we breath.
No more food for you, it makes us fat.
You can't go to work, until we're flat broke.

Break the rules or buy yourself your own computer so he can't take it away. And pay for your internet services :)

God bless Chris, we'll miss you. Dont feel bad, just hate your dad for ever. j/k

Your dad most likely lost it for a second, and will most likely rethink this decision. I hope this isn't your future. +rep for you.

Yeah, show him you need us! We are your friends, and anyone who would make a virus would be banninated by the baanhammer.

Why don’t you show him what GTP actually does talk about?

Werd.

Come on Chris' dad. We're all cool people. I think I'm going to actually miss Chris. No more trademarked HABERDAI!'s :(.

Nice knowing you man. I might register at your site to keep in touch.

I changed my sig for this. I hope your dad is impressed, but I think MachOne is right.

Why don’t you show him what GTP actually does talk about?
Exactly my thoughts and a great idea, +rep.

Flip 'em the bird if he doesn't listen.
And when Wallrunner51's dad has a look at GT Planet and sees that post he will feel totally vindicated and keep him banned. Nice move. -Rep.

Scaff

That's kinda what I was thinking. Way to aid the situation.

I honestly hope Chris can convince his dad to let him stay. Some parents just need to see that not everything on the internet is related to hacking, viruses, pr0n, and emo-wrist-cutting. It sounds like your dad hasn't really surfed the web all that much.

You have a bigger chance of being influenced badly in the real world than on here. The real world has no swear filter, no 24/7 always-watching moderation staff, and definitely no content filters/AUP.

Why don’t you show him what GTP actually does talk about?
I'm agreeing with what I'm sure will end up the majority by a long shot and say this is the best advice in here.

Wow.
Did you tell him that GTPlanet has a strict thing against illegal activities such as keygens and pirating?
You should (unless you dad is as short-fused as mine) print out the Acceptance Use Policy.
I guess GTP is so cool, the user's dads keep them off of it because they don't want their sons to be cooler than they are.

I changed my sig for this. I hope your dad is impressed, but I think MachOne is right.
Maybe everyone should do that.

Word @ Mach.

Maybe he should look at the site before he makes any such decision, and by the way, did he go to one of those "safe surfing" classes? I sat in on one, they basically said "THE INTERNET IS BAD NO KIDS ON INTERNET." That is preposterous. Also, I'm not Emo.

LMAO

Dude, I hate the interweb, every one thinks it's all serious. Sarcasm was being spoken at that time. From now when I say something sarcastic, I'm inserting the [sarcastic] [/sarcastic] code. Really.

But really... minus or plus rep, I can care less, I'm here on GTP to hang out and chill, do we really need this little system? Nah.

And Chris, yeah, I feel for ya, but sometimes, you gotta ' fight ' back or say something to change a person's mind. Turn the tables on him for isntance. I'm not trying to get you into trouble from my posts before, but really.

I'm still full of responses to Chris' dad.

Really, Chris has a better chance of being shot in the real world than being physically harmed on the internet. He has a higher chance of picking up on foul language and crude humor in the real world, where moderation can only be done to an extent, than he does on here. He has a better chance of going out and getting into some girl's pants than seeing nudity on GTPlanet. He could go out and meet some friends and go shoplift or do drugs, but can he very well do that here? Nope.

Come on Chris' dad. Let Chris stay :).

Well, if he's not allowed here anymore, then chances are he's not going to see our (your) suggestions. :(
Maybe he'll be sneaky and look at this thread, because there is stuff here hid dad should read (apart from PL's posts)

A rep fest! Good one Machone, we are a good, clean community that help, not hurt. If you think that this site is bad, just google some random word, and you'll get much worse.

Give his dad's e-mail to MachỎne, and he'll really want him out. He will feel like there will be an e-mob after him.

Like I said, Acceptance User Policy.

Oh! well that's good! At least he can still view it, I mean there's nothing here that people could say or do that's bad, and not getted banned and probably have their post or thread removed or edited. I just think he should be able to do what he wants anyway, as long as he doesn't do anything that ends up being bad.

*Hoping Chris sees it before permanent eviction*

(Hey, he can log in at his friend's house, right?)

I don't know you, Chris, and your stated reasons for your Dad's new rules are kind of bitter, understandably. Some of the responses for how to handle it are exactly what he's talking about, even though they're {probably} intended sarcastically.

That said, just how much time have you made a habit of spending on the forums? Does your dad see a hopeless geek growing up with no life and no way to interface with the real world? Maybe he thinks he's telling you to find something useful to do (from his point of view.)

Does he see you as a game hacker who does nothing but download the latest patches, cheats, and cracks? Maybe he thinks you're stealing games online. Maybe he thinks he's protecting you from pedophiles. Maybe he thinks YOU'RE one.

My own parenting experience was along the lines of encouraging real-world behaviors outside the online community. My first daughter spent her first online IM days at the computer, 19 people up in different conversations, talking about each of them in the other conversations, and reporting what the other people said about them, all while talking on the phone to people who weren't online! Enough was enough, and I simply set a time limit. She didn't have her own computer, and I had software to enforce the "rules" on my computer. The next daughter (step-daughter, this one) just started high school and is headed the same direction, but she has her own laptop provided by her biological father. He provides the toys, but no rules, great! Now I get to play with the router to enforce her online time and access.

Anyway, you need to find out why this is happening, with a calm, quiet discussion, not a teen rant about how unfair life is. (I get that from the girls a lot: "You don't know anything. That's not fair!" yada yada yada.) He's either trying to wean you of your excessive PC habits, or he's afraid of the online community because he doesn't understand it, just hears on the news and TV shows how such horrible things happen to such nice kids all the time. If he's the latter, you're gonna have to educate him somehow. Get some cousins or aunts and uncles online, call them up with suggestions for how easy it is to keep in touch, not just by forwarding stupid chain letters to each other, but by actually being in touch, instantly. Our family got online when our son deployed to Iraq, we could talk with him several times a week on Yahoo Messenger. Anyway, if the others get in on it in a postive way, they'll bring him in.

OTOH, if you're on the PC 17 hours a day, you DO need to find something else to do. Seriously. :)

One minute after I post, there are two more. I don't even have time to do my font.
This seems to be the most action in one thread ever.
24 posts in 30 minutes.

I'll expect to see you around here when you're at a friend's house/at school using their computer.

Then why did you post?

@wfooshee - You make a good point, you as a responsible adult may be a swaying factor in this debacle with Chris and his dad. I hope he read that and realized something.

Why isn't Chris posting?

Will he be on Uber.com?
Google Groups?
Myspace? No to that. that is just about the worst.
Yahoo?

AWWWWW!!!!!!

I like Chris, he's a cool dude. Well, I'm a new member of his pet forum, so I can still contact him. And yes, HABERDAI is still a service mark, so we can't use it. No, actually I think we should keep it alive.

I nominate MachOne to do all HABERDAIs until Wall comes back.

Another blow to The Pluto Defense. Damn.

Take care WallRunner, see you when you're 18. I don't think you have to worry about this site not being here. It's soon going to be turning 6 years old.
