September sounds good. But now direct component for TDU...at least for me.

I hope there are way more than 20 cars in the game. TX3 for PS2 had over 100 if I´m not mistaken...

Well, the car list has been posted in several places, and there are only 21 unique models.
Many people are saying its due to the high cost of licensing, but I'm guessing it was all the incredibly intricate customization detail (underhood, interior...) that kept the numbers low. Each car must have taken a major amount of time to model.

Ah, my bad. I didn't remember them being in TXR0, but now that I think about it, I remember starting with a CRX.

Heres the list from the Shuto boards...

Ah well, of course I'd like to have more cars, but do u remember the last TXR's ?
It was rather hard to earn the money for buying and tuning cars. I don't think that I had more than 4 or 5 fully tuned cars after having beaten all regular enemies ( apart from some wanderers ). For me - acccepting that I can't have Honda's - there are almost all cars in the game that I want. I just miss my bugeye Impreza and some old japanese cars.... Don't forget the extreme level of detail in tuning/modification. There are so many ways to make your individual car. And I prefer that just like in NFS MW ( also had just 20 cars ) over 100+ cars in PGR3...why? Because in PGR3 a Nissan Skyline will always loose against the CLK GTR, it will always have just 300 hp, street tires and normal exhaust, it will always have the same spoiler and always sound and drive the same. That's why PGR3 is lying somewhere at an unknown corner of my room since january or so...
In TXR I can take that Skyline and make it a 800 hp firethrowing monster which flys down the Shutokou with 350 km/h...
I just want to tune cars and that is a crucial point where TXR delivers... I bet that the custom tuning possibilities in this game are greater than in any other game on the market today. However, you have to be a fan of Japanese cars.

^Make that 1200hp flamethrowing beast lol.I want my Trueno:(This is starting to remind me of SRS and that was not a pleasent expereince at all:(

12. October 2006 release ?

ubisoft.co.uk
# Most in-depth car personalization of any racing games on Xbox 360:
Over 5 million custom import car combinations: tune your car

I have to say the list is pretty boring and disappointing. :(

I just played TXR3 again and they had some tight ass cars like Mercedes S 600 or the old Pantera.

But maybe its due to the big possibilities to modify your car. But I found it really cool racing the little Nissans in my S 600 Benz :D

Well I also like variety, but for a japanese sports car fan there are at least 70% of the cars that you probably want to have in the game.... so it depends on your personal taste... for example PGR3 has about 5 japanese cars and you can't tune them... so if you like japanese cars and tuning you have a hard time loving PGR3...

That's a really bogus list. One of the greatest things about TXR0 and TXR01 was that they had a bunch of cool, obscure cars.

Now there's nothing but what you'd see at a D1GP.

That must be the comfimed list (so-far) as they wouldnt have the rolling guy driving a trueno when its not even available to you, hence why i didnt see it i just looked in the cars available to buy?

Well I didn't want to wait until October so i bought a japanese xbox360, which arrived today... My copy of Shutokou Battle 10 hopefully arrives next week ... expect my first impression and a review soon :)

Max,

you are a crazy dude :D I like that :sly:

;) Well it was like that:... I called the MS customer service and found out that a japanese 360 has one year warranty ( from buying date ).... So I knew if there is sth wrong with it I'll get it replaced/repaired.
The next day I saw a rather good offer. 300 EUR buy-it-now for the premium edition with FF11 beta... and so I thought : I can make a few bucks with selling
the headset, the remote control, the wireless pad ( already had 4 pads ) and the HD. I decided to keep the HD though, since some GB are obviously used for storing game data, which makes some games faster and smoother...
But still, now i can buy all games as asia versions, which means : 35 EUR endprice incl. shipping from HK... so I think that after a year or so I get my money back... I mean come on, a new PAL 360 game is at least 45 EUR on ebay + shipping... so at least 50 EUR... vs 35 EUR ...you do the math...

And last but not least I have a bunch of exams in October/November and since I know myself, I know it is better to have Shutokou Battle now ...

Ok, my copy arrived today. Thank you Lik-sang :D

Here is my "first look"( I played about an hour so far ) :

1. grafics : You all know the pics and the videos so here is just a brief impression : The cars look awesome. They might have less polygons than PGR or NFS, but they don't look like plastic cars ( prg3 anyone ? ) and the attention to detail is great. Exterior, interior everything is very nice. No critics so far.
The landscape / city is another thing. The tarmac looks great and if you are running at midnight the bright neon lights look great. So do the buildings. If you are, however, racing in the morning Tokyo can become a little ugly... just as in real life ;) ... simply put : some textures look very mediocre ... Tokyo in PGR is a lot nicer in daylight. It's not horrible, but there is definitvly a difference. At midnight everything is fine.

2. gameplay : I really enjoy the steering. Imo this TXR has the best feel behind the wheel,a nice balance between sim and arcade. I can't say more at this point, since I only drove stock suspension so far, which we all know, tends to suck...

3. game structure : Ok we have a total of about 450 rivals in single player mode and the "gotta catch'em all" feeling comes after 5 min of gameplay. Awesome just like in all Genki racing games.

4. Online. I raced once so far against a Chinese player. Lag ? Hard to tell.... My stock STi had not even the slightest chance against the fully tuned Skyline. I saw the other car at the start for about... uhm let's say 5-7 sec ... race over :D...

5.Tuning. One word : sick. You can do tune everything, you can even hang stuff on your rear mirror... If you know previous TXR, you know what to expect. Absolutly awesome

6.Negative points : No rumble effect ( maybe I just can't find it, but options are in English...so....I have to admit though, that it is not thaaat bad without rumble... you get used to it... but ok, I'd still like to have the choice.
Car variety.... Not really a negative point for me, but you can't have enough cars. It is easy to understand why... the tuning possibilities. All those aerokits and what not. Look at NFS MW... doesn't have 200 cars either...

Overall :

I love it ( I better do, this game cost me over 400 $ so far :scared: )...
No really, it is great. Don't focus on grafics... yes there are racinggames out there with a better one... So what ? Hundrets of rivals, great gameplay and an extreme level of customisation....
If you don't hate Tokyo and like Japanese cars, this is your game.

Feel free to ask questions, I'll try to answer them as good as I can.
Expect updates and someday a review ....
Must...enter my... S15 Silvia... Shutokou is calling... I have to ... race

So you've got the import copy? Please don't tell me that is the entire car list because seriously forget that if it is.

Variety should be the key with this game especially online, I mean I would be happy with just TXR3 with an online function. I mean then at least I could unleash my V8 Izuzu Vehicros, or my MX-5 With a 13B in it on people. I can see it getting a bit dull online with people just driving the same 20 or so cars, well probably less than that seeing as most people will just drive whatever is the best car online but anyway.

I don't get it though, I mean this is even a smaller selection of cars than C1 and I was pretty satisfied with what was available in that. I mean KB3 had a crapload to choose from.

Genki are obviously suffering from GT3 syndrome, where it takes a large amount of time to model all the cars for a relatively new system. Well probably even longer with the aero parts and the interior this time around.

The wheel does move in the interior view, right? Right? Please tell me so. Maybe racing a couple RX-7s from inside the cockpit will justify a rental.

The car list is correct. Well, I don't think it is such a huge problem. Think of the tuning possibilities. As you said, look at PGR3... If your meet with a random group of people and set the mode to free choice of cars you'll end up with 6 F50 GT and 2 McLaren.... or 4 F50GT, 2 McLaren and two CLK GTR, you know what I mean... So while I would welcome a greater car variety, I still prefer 25 cars with insane tuning possibilities over 100+ cars without tuning, but that is just my point of view....
And you already wrote why they didn't add more cars, that is what I think aswell...Genki is not a 2 men company, but it hasn't got the resources (money and programmers ) of EA etc...

The wheel does move in the interior view, right? Right? Please tell me so. Maybe racing a couple RX-7s from inside the cockpit will justify a rental.

No, because there is no wheel. You don't see it... Does it look like *oops I activated the swear filter, sorry...* on pics ? Yes. In motion ? No. After 2 min interior you forget about the missing wheel ( which btw makes sense... why? Plug in a a racing wheel and start thinking... why should there be two wheels? The one you hold in your hands and an animated one.... 💡 ), but you welcome the better playability, since no hands are acting around....

I have to say that every minute I play this game, it becomes more addictive and more fun. If you liked previous TXR's, you'll like this one, I can guarantee you that !

I read through this for like 5 times, but I really have no clue what your question is, sorry. Please elaborate.

any pics/vids?Please:)

I don't have the means to produce pics or especially videos. There area lot of trailer and pics on the web though.

General update of my impression :

Ok I played about 20% through the single player mode.

I now have
- my start car ( Nissan Silvia S15, some little mods, ~270 hp )
- Custom car : ROLLING GUY No.1 (Toyota AE86, 261 hp )
- 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi with ~ 480 hp

This game seriously rocks ! It is absolutly addictive and imo the best game of the series. Of course Shutokou Battle 01 / Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 had a lot more content ( three cities and more cars incl. foreign brands like MB ), but this time

- the gameplay is strongly improved... the handling is just fine, if you drive in
another car, wall etc it is entirly your fault, which I couldn't say in previous installments. And it's gameplay that counts, right ?

- grafics are the best of the series...ok they are not Xbox360 high class ( although the game is ALWAYS running at 60fps, I had not a single slowdown so far, even not against 3 rivals and traffic in a narrow part of the track ). The point is, that the increased view distance and the acuracy of the sourrunding in general make you really feel : this is Tokyo, not just a dark asian city. It is hard to explain, but having been in Tokyo for several times, Shutokou Battle 10 is the first satifying version of Genki racers concerning this aspect.
Of course there are some drawbacks... There are very few but 1 or 2 rather prominent pop ups in the game, which are not really annoying, but you'll notice them ( = especially 1... a whole skyscraper... it pops in rather late, not in front of you, but noticeable...about every 2nd time you pass... shouldn't go through quality control, but whatever ). If you focus, stop at certain places and postion your car in order to get a view on the little side streets and cornes or the sourrounding you'll find places where they simply stopped rebuilding the city... so you'll find simply nothing where streets and buildings should be. You won't notice that while racing though, I found out since I wanted to and have some knowledge of the real city. A little dissapointing, but it doesn't affect the game for the average joe.
The overall grafics-experience is very good though. The cars look stunning imo and the landscape/city can look as good as in PGR sometimes, not always and it strongly depends on the time you race ( night looks best > midnight > morning ). But the effects are nice, the reflections are all realtime, so are the light effects of your headlight, 60 fps, very fast, soem animated neon ads or the fary wheel in Odaiba...very nice.

- game structure.... as always very addicting with over 400 rivals. Money is rare though... or maybe I'd better say, the mods have insane prices... The final engine tune up costs as much as three Sklyine GT-R R34. Note however, that you are not able to install it from the beginning. You have to unlock the upgrade levels. If you want to to do that, oyu are forced to install let's say lv 2 and lv. 5 engine upgrades first. Level 5 costs as much as a Skyine, but if you want lv 6 you don't have to pay the 20% difference from lv5, no you have to pay for the whole upgrade, just as if you'd buy the level 6 upgrade for the stock engine.... And thisis only the engine. This goes for everything from clutch over brakes to muffler upgrades. A fully tuned car is maybe imo far over 100 mio credits, which makes it imo hard to get more than maybe 3 fully tuned cars at the end of the game ( although the 2nd, 3rd etc cars are "cheaper" since you are then able to start with max level upgrades right from the stock car ). So why is that hard ? If you race an enemy you'll get a lot of money, but only once ! The 2nd etc races against the same enemy are paid much much less ( maybe 10-20 % of the original prize money )... And there are speed cams at certain places... so sometimes you also have to pay a speeding ticket... Last time I payed 50k credits for 25 km/h over the allowed speed..

Ok gotta go to university now, I'll update sometime later this day or within the next two days. All I can say is, that this game is freaking awesome, I absolutly love it, and I didn't even touch the online mode yet ( ok one race, just to check if it works ). If you like the series, don't be afraid of the small amount of cars, there is now way you won't like this game...really not...
