Xbox me no like
The more i run this track the more i like it. suzuka and fuji are good tracks dont get me wrong but there both all about grip grip grip and more grip. I've tryied backing off in favor off speed but it never seams to pay off theres just not enuf fast sections. I like the ballance at daytona the car still has to have some grip and handle well but speed and acceleration are just as important. Finding that ballance in my set ups has been very fun and challangeing. I just ran a race in the viper with the downforce almost off weight at like 110% and power maxed out (something like that ) and it did very well. Also i could see from running behind another viper that he was a bit better off the corner and thru the s turn but i definatly had him in the last half of the two big corners and i pulled up near the end of every straight. I would have passed him for the lead but a random GT LM decided i needed to be come aquainted with the wall on the final straight :P My thanks to NLxAROSA at DC for his help with the blitz. The combination of his set up and mine have proven to be the best set up so far in the blitz, for me anyway. I cant wait for more "big" tracks like spa and the ring, laterz!

The actual road bit is really good, lots of turns but the ring part is boring.

I actually find the oval part not boring at all, since it's a perfect place for drafting and overtaking. With the right tactics, you can decide to win or fail on the oval part, regardless of driving skill (which is ofcourse also needed ;)).

Agree with NLxAROSA, it's fantastic combination of part of the oval and the inside circuit, both are complementing each other for driver's nirvana.

We must be a minority, then. Most people seem to hate or dislike this course just because of the oval. I love it. It's my favorite track to race in the game, and the turns before Turn 3 on the oval are so much fun to fly through. :)

You can have a faster car ahead of you in the chicanes, drafting behind them and overtaking them at the last second, gaining the win. 👍 Also, the straight leading to the chicanes is rather exciting, because if you're drafting and overtaking there it becomes a hell of a job to judge where to break exactly before entering the chicanes. Not boring at all to me. :)

At times it can feel like too much emphasis is placed on speed. (A wel driven GT LM always beats an equally driven anything else). It's a fun track, and being a fan of muscle cars you can bet it suits my driving style far better than Suzuka ever did (never liked Suzuka anyway). But I wouldn't call it a great track, only a good one when comparing in GT5:P.

I dislike most of the tracks in GT5P, but the two track I do race on is Daytona Road and Suzuka Long. My favorite hate object is Fuji, can't stand it. Just my opinion. That and the fact that I'm not that proficient as a driver.

I've always liked this track, it's very much a circuit where you can separate yourself from the drivers who aren't quite up to scratch - corners like the braking into turn one and the high-speed chicane on the oval section can really win or lose the race.

I like it because you can run a EVO tuned and still have a chance of a win.Drafting is VERY important in this car.👍

Turn 1 is the most challenging corner of all the courses in the game. Really teaches you how to brake as well as how shifting the weight of the car affects the car's handling characteristics. Tire wear will be interesting when introduced, I believe that front right tyre will take a severe beating.

haha yea include tire wear and endurance races online and you will see people braking really early into that corner to save there tires. will be come a great overtaking spot but with a price.

but by far my favorite track in GT5P. i can run this track for hours in the corvette and never get tired of it.

A lot like the Top Gear test track. Rewards power and speed, but also has a large variation in types of turns to really test out a car.

Why don't you marry it then!

Kidding....great track though, I had some good races on the weekend. What is with the GTLMsquad guys?

Great track, plenty of passing opportunities. It's not like Suzuka where you have to follow the guy for almost an entire lap before a decent passing turn comes up. But they've ruined it by only 3 laps/5 minute races and every car being seperated by 1 second on the start.

I really hope they fix that in the August 1st update. If you start midpack and there is a quicker driver starting up front kiss your chances at winning goodbye because you're automatically put in a 5 second hole

However I noticed alot of people are scared of this track at 750pp and R1 tires and won't budge from 600 suzuka

I would like to see a poll thread on which is 1st best and 2nd bast map :) (SO 2 polls in one thread)

well said Earth. next to suzuka this my most enjoyable track.. more laps needed.. question though.. i start from the back of the grid every time i play.. the best start i have had is 10 out of 12... i dont know why this is.maybe some of you guys know the reason?.. i thought maybe its got to do with when you join the game.. but ive been the 3or4 person in and still i get back of the grid:yuck:

theewar it depends on your pp, the drivers with the least pp start up front and the field is filled out in order of least to most pp.

I like the track but online it's pretty much a mess, because it's international there are so many punters, and disconnecters is 10 times more then I had with normal servers...

But it's really challenging to race with the R1 tyres and be quick enough to catch the front if you're starting at the back! I love it. 👍

Last time I met a Finland guy driving with a 743PP Ford GT LM Test Car and he finished the 3 laps in 5'18! I was shocked when I saw his time! :scared: I thought 5'24 was already incredibly fast.. but he's even much faster than that!

Anyway, I'm so glad to have a few chances meeting up some of the GTP-ers in this international event! You guys are really fast and driving clean! ;)👍

thanks for that earth..👍 i know about the pp system.. thing is a lot of the races i do have only 2or3 below the 750pp.. and still it works out this way.. i use the s2000 and i do well even from the back.. but it would be cool every now and then starting from the midfield.. without dropping my pp.

Remember he's name? ..always interested when Finns involved...

I went on last night in the GTLM. 98% of the time I start 11/12 12/12 regardless of points. I'm on ntl broadband 2mb, I've asked people if my car skips around and looks laggy but they say its fine so I don't know why. Sometimes my name appears in 5-7 but then the race starts and I'm at the back.

Great track though, had some good battles and wins with other GTLM and got slipstreamed a few times by S2000 who just hold back and wait lol. Each race I had to dodge and weave through skylines and other S2000 then I get the leader within .5 and then it ends or they start veering wildly before the finish so I don't bother overtaking.

What was funny is in each race there was a Green Honda s2000 with different a id each time doing the same break checking, driving backwards, or just strolling around causing chaos.

OK, let's be fair: as a track, Daytona Road doesn't even begin to compare with the brilliance of Suzuka.

Many people have run 600PP Suzuka a lot of times, which means there is (sometimes) a high degree of skill on display at Suzuka & some very close races. Usually, err... well often, the best driver wins.

DR would be much better IMO if, as you say, the races were much longer (to counteract the starting advantage), if running your car into a barrier at 100 mph + ended your race (ie. damage), & if the drafting were massively reduced. Then I think the racing would be more interesting (please see F1:CE). As it is, it's a bit of a wild chase to the finish where anything can & does happen.

How on Earth (pardon the pun), can you have any idea if people are "scared"?!

i like this track aswell. alot of overtaking going on through the infeild section and then drafting aswell.

today has been pretty good for racing on it so hopefully tonight will be better with more GTP members racing it

Daytona Road may not be as interesting or as technical as Suzuka but it produces a higher percentage of good races

Both have flaws.

At first I thought there was nothing wrong with me using the GT LM at Daytona even though its easily the fasest car there because I don't use AIDs and if you have the skill to control the car without AIDs you deserve to win.

But now I have seen alot of guys using TC and even ASM at Daytona Road with the GT LM and they are at an advantage with TC coming out of the slow corners and ASM helps them go through the bus stop faster .

And yes there are people scared of Daytona Road 750pp. Once they find their AWD cars get smoked here they move to RWD with 600HP at the rear wheels on R1 tires. One or two laps is more then enough to send them back to AWD paradise suzuka 600 with their tail between their legs

I think it's a bit presumptuous to assign motives to people based on encountering them in a few races online. Personally (as you may have noticed), I don't use AWD on any track, but I enjoy racing people who do.

Suzuka is a track carefully & (IMO) brilliantly designed to provide a rigorous & complex driving challenge. DR strikes me as a bit of a "road course" stuck onto an oval.

Daytona Road may not be as interesting or as technical as Suzuka but it produces a higher percentage of good races

I haven't found this yet: I still turn to Suzuka for "good races". I suspect, as with Suzuka, the more time people spend on DR, the tighter & more competitive the racing will become. However, at that point, it will still remain true that DR only has about 6 critical turns, as opposed to at least 12 on Suzuka, so I think there will always be more room for variable outcomes in Suzuka.

The nice thing about DR is the ability to race people from all over the world. The down-side of this is that the races are crowded, & there are a large number of hackers included in most races. I think, like you, that extending the number of laps would make a big difference in improving the racing.
