Can you point me to the post with Anti-American sentiment in it, as I can't seem to find it in this topic? I did see some posts with people hating this track, but I find it rather strange to see those as a personal or cultural attack. (Which they are not)

Yes, Anti American Sentiment from Euros, especially F1 fans in Euro. If it has an oval, they turn in disgust.

Im not talking about hating all american culture. I am talking about American motor sports. Ah, let me just say the word..yes NASCAR. Oval racing? For some reason many Europeans dislike American racing. Which yes, would be apart of our culture. I just want everyone that we raced at Suzuka WE to race at Daytona Road. All of the NTSC guys are there, but a lot of the PAL guys are not there. Where did they go? They are far and few! They were some of the fastest players i've met and yet I've 'yet' to see them racing out there with us. I am not sure what is its, if its because they hate oval tracks, or american venues, or if they are scared to come. I just don't know!

The oval parts in the circuit actually make this track even more interesting for me as it brings high speeds in addition to the slower in-track part, very challenging indeed. 👍

I don't care for the Daytona Oval though (or oval races in general), that's quite boring.

I see loads of people playing this track with the PAL version. Maybe it's the timezone differences? I for one really like this track, and judging from the responses in this thread, so do many fellow Euro racers. 👍 Though I'll admit I doubt I would like it as much if it were just the oval. Haven't tried that one online yet though, maybe it will be introduced in the future, so I can give it a go.

I'm not scared of Suzuka. I love the Short Course. I just find the back half of the long course very tedious and unsatisfying to drive. It's full of Tilke's dirty little schoolboy tricks, and it has no flow at all. A completed lap has no feeling of triumph, just the feeling of having gotten through an annoyance.

I guess I can't be clear enough. Where are the GTP PAL users? I can remember just a few weeks ago, those guys were up until 4-5 am their time racing the Suzuka WE! Now, they are nowhere to be found, its not a timezone issue. It just a matter of preference. Now from what I gather from other threads, this is the sentiment: American venues suck. So because Daytona Road has oval parts..they won't touch it.

I know it doesn't matter many more, I know, but I just would have like to race them on this track, but for some reason they never showed. And believe me, I have raced DR every day for 5-6 hours a day...and still never saw half the PAL that I did with the Suzuka Event.

I doubt it has anything to do with formula 1, dont forget until a year ago Indianpolis road course was part of the F1 calender

Now its true that daytona suzuka is the popular PAL venue and has been since the online began but heres the thing. It hasn't been simply suzuka that was popular, it was suzuka 600PP Suzuka 750PP was always scarcely populated by GTP folk, why? Becuase the general concensus was that we prefare mildly tuned sports cars/modestly powered supercar to, high power high downforce monsters. GTP PAL has always predominatly been 600PP at suzuka, that was at least until the previous update when 600PP at suzuka ceased to exist people then split between either keeping it at suzuka and competing in the world event, or racing at fuji and keeping it at 600PP. still Suzuka seemed to be the most popular as it was still racing with untuned sports cars. Now the oppertunity to race 600PP at suzuka is here everyone is racing there again. Why because it is the GTP PAL Venue, not only because it is at suzuka but because its also 600PP

This has been one of my favorite events yet. It is a great balance between speed and bendy bits. I know you guys almost all like Suzuka, but I still don't like it, so this has been a great 2 weeks for me with Daytona Road 750pp. I also liked this course a lot at 500pp, but it was hard to find people racing it.

well speaking for myself, i never really ventured onto 750pp PAL races much prefering the 600 at Suzuka, several occasions i have gone to Daytona because its a WE and because i did enjoy racing or driving alongside fellow GTP members from far overseas, alas i havent come across any and the people i have met are mainly....numpties, i think i managed about 3 clean races in at least 20 so sacked it off as a bad experience, not just at daytona but here at suzuka 600 pal as i always seem to race when the moon is full and the knob heads are out...hopefully after update i once again can get to race alongside/behind/infront of fellow GTP people from over the seas....till then i hear you but don't see you

Exactly. 750PP seems unrealistic to me. More like arcade racing - not to say that it's not fun: when you get a clean race (which doesn't happen that often!) it is fun, but it just doesn't seen realistic, & I think realism is GT5P's strong suit.

Now, I don't know, I've never driven monster-tuned Corvettes IRL, but somehow the performance characteristics just don't seem real at 750PP - they're kind of like race cars, but they don't quite handle (or look) like real race cars. Driving these cars at around 650 - 700 PP feels more realistic, which is to say they require a lighter, careful & more skillfull touch.

Oh, and I don't run Suzuka 600PP because I'm scared to run DR 750PP, I run DR 750PP because I'm scared of being called scared by Earth for running Suzuka 600PP.

Ahhh, I stand corrected. Did Tilke do the Fuji redesign? Again, no rhythm, just awkwardness to try and catch you out. I can't respect that.

Yeah, Tilke did that. Ugh. I find that the final right hander coming onto the main straight is doubly hard in the game because you have to look right to see ahead to the apex, which you can't easily do in the game...

There are racing sims that have a look-into-turn feature, where the driver automatically turns his head to the direction you are turning to. Now that would be a cool feature for GT5P.

I have daytona and suzuka fans on my team and everyone has got their own reasons for it.
I would be racing more often on Suzuka if it wasn't for the 600pp and the damage dirty sundaydrivers are able to do there. I think it is the most technichal one and i love it
High Speed ring , where i used to hang up at the beginning lost the interest for me when became the paradise for wallsurfers.
I don't know why we never race on Fuji lately.
But Daytona 750 is great, i didn't like it at first, but when you go driving on it you begin discovering the challenges that hides.
Going into Turn1 with de GTLM it's so beautyfull. In deed i had probably the most impressing piece of performance the other day, 2nd lap i was 1st, Sutil_Alfredo (the one to beat always) 2nd, he got to overtake me just in the last moment before the turn, he did interior/exterior and i did the opposite one. We got into the turn doing all the way a paralel sinchronice drifting without any contact in beetwen us.
I will always regret not to have recorded it

I like the white knuckle turns, the ones where if you want to go thru it fast you have to be right on the edge. For suzuka (at least for me) thats turn 1 denger and 130R, at daytona you got turn 1 turn 2 turn 4 and the chicane. they dont really provide good passing areas but i love the moments they create. You over shoot just a little or turn in just a bit to late or early, and you hold youre breath for that split second as the car gose up on the ripple strip on the exit of the corner. For that split sec youre not sure if you going to make it or not. It also feels really good when you know you nailed it going thru there. Ive probably had two of the coolest looking spin outs ever in turn 1 and turn 4 at daytona, where i tryied to save it by standding on the gas and almost did but I was sideways with the rear tires billowing smoke the whole time. Not the best display of driver skill I'll admit but it sure looked cool on the replay Another exsample of why i love daytona road, because of the "moments" it provides. Be it passing, close racing , cool spin outs there just seams to be more of them here vs other tracks where its follow the leadder save for a few turns.

Though I haven't raced Suzuka or Fuji much at all, I completely agree with this - in addition to the turns mentioned above I think the chicane can be quite nerve racking also whether you're all alone on the back stretch or in a heated race with 2 or 3 competitors. I can't count the number of times I've been going thru there and seen someone in the grass somewhere ahead of me - the entrace back onto the oval just past the chicane is also tricky and lends itself to spinouts galore. I sure hope they keep the DR 750PP online race out there after Friday night.

the 130r isn't really a threat because there's SO much run off. Turn 1 at suzuka however is pretty bad because when you botch it, you're screwed. Turn 1 at daytona isn't bad either, because the wall is just right there and traffic is slow through there, so you really don't lose too much.

The turn that always worries me at daytona is that very fast left (turn 3 or 4?), because if you go off on that one, there's a whole lot of grass to slide on.

In my opinion, the hardest part of DR is the timing of your pass, especially on the last lap when you right behind someone, or someone is right behind you.

If you are ahead, you need to take a line that is difficult to have a drafter pass you on, like the high bank…but then you give up the inside lane which is a risk if they have the power over you.

If you are right behind someone, you need to time pulling out of the draft at the right moment to make sure you have enough speed on them so they cannot redraft you past the finish line.

That to me, makes DR a very difficult fun course. On Suzuka, you don’t need to really worry about getting redrafted because the distance between Casio and the finish line does not give that much of an opportunity.
