But now I have seen alot of guys using TC and even ASM at Daytona Road with the GT LM and they are at an advantage with TC coming out of the slow corners and ASM helps them go through the bus stop faster .

How do you know they're using TC and ASM without seeing a replay or maybe parking up near the bus stop and watching perhaps. They might just be faster than you through those sections. Last time I had TC and ACM on was when I first put the game in December and can't really see how you'd be faster with them on. I'll give it a go later but not really noticed anything like that in 750pp giving other GTLM advantage. I think I seen a different TT where the top had TC on 1 around the full oval and was 0.040 faster than the 2nd time with no aids, I'll also check GTLM TT (S2 I know) to see if anyone uses this, very very rare I've seen it in use. I'm just interested as I'm running this last night and again soon.👍

I think it's a bit presumptuous to assign motives to people based on encountering them in a few races online. Personally (as you may have noticed), I don't use AWD on any track, but I enjoy racing people who do.

Suzuka is a track carefully & (IMO) brilliantly designed to provide a rigorous & complex driving challenge. DR strikes me as a bit of a "road course" stuck onto an oval.

I haven't found this yet: I still turn to Suzuka for "good races". I suspect, as with Suzuka, the more time people spend on DR, the tighter & more competitive the racing will become. However, at that point, it will still remain true that DR only has about 6 critical turns, as opposed to at least 12 on Suzuka, so I think there will always be more room for variable outcomes in Suzuka.

The nice thing about DR is the ability to race people from all over the world. The down-side of this is that the races are crowded, & there are a large number of hackers included in most races. I think, like you, that extending the number of laps would make a big difference in improving the racing.

Personally I don't care about how complex or rigorous a track is, I prefer tracks that produce great racing. That's why I'm a fan of oval racing and Daytona Road.

Now when Suzuka had the International F430 vs GTR event I had probably the greatest racing ever there, but that's because we were in equal cars and everyone from GTP particpated. Now it seems alot are scared of Daytona Road and would rather stay with what they are comfortable with rather then accepting it's challenge.

I've watched other drivers in this game long enough to be able to get a good idea of who is using assists, who has a wheel, who has a sixaxis, etc etc

I just watch how some drivers power out of the slow corners at Daytona Road in a GTLM much much faster then me without a hint of the car becoming unstable.

They may indeed just be faster then me through certain corners, but the only explanation I can find for it is that they use assists or have a superior setup. For example if I tried to throw the GTLM around in the bus stop like they do I would end up in lake Lloyd

I just wish we had more international FIXED SETUP races that didn't allow you to change brake bias, torque split or use any assists and maybe even forced cockpit view. I want to know I'm getting beat by the better driver who is using the same overall settings as me, not the better mechanic or driver who has found a way to exploit the assists/realtime tuning.

+1

I would really like some races with TC/ABS/ASM restrictions. :)

Yep, I thinks its better setup and better driving, but yes, we can't be 100%.

I do agree. I can tune but often can't be bothered doing tuning and tweaking taking up game time just to shave off up to a second or even some tunes can be 5-6 seconds faster than stock. But mainly it just means you have spent more time than someone else or have understanding of how camber and toe works etc, pro drivers will need to know in real life of course. I don't expect everyone out there to know or to take the time.

Spec-I was great. No tunes, no RA, just stock, although TC ACM was available but I really don't think any able driver was using TC ASM then or now for advantage. I think too many people are braking early, less traction because of no tuning or fiddling too much and its a mis match in this format. Not to mention rubberbanding and imo exaggerated slipstreaming. No gauge on how your doing at all.

I just hope PD get it right with all the feedback their getting from online in GT5p. It could be a great game for all types.

You know this how?

lol

just because your faster then me in the time trials doesn't mean much to me, try using the cockpitview and no racing line then and the playing field will be level Mr. "I have 4 tenths left"

Whats the problem

What the hell has this got to do with TT. Why you assume I use the driving line. You know this how? LOL

How do I know you haven't spent hours on your tune and say something else, and also use the driving line.

I don't think TT's are anything myself. Just practice. TT means nothing to me. Does it you? I read GTplanet and you often talk down TT's, plus you mention it now??

You've taken this the wrong way, so I'll leave this. I was agreeing with you.

This track Sucks are kidding me-go fast go slow go fast slow down to 10 mph to turn, ohthat is so much fun!!!!!!!! NOT
You probally like going to the Dentist also.

+1 loving Daytona Road. I didn't use to race this track much, but after this latest 750pp, R1, world event, I've been there almost every day. Thanks (again) to NLxAROSA for his setups.

What a wonderful insight.

Max pp doesn't mean max power. I always reduce my pp slightly to get a better grid start. Start from the back of the grid and you often have to deal with carnage at the first turn. :sly:

Daytona, Speedway and road has always had the huge pile up problem at the first turn, so i'm not a great lover of the track really.

I like this course because it is a real life American GT event track.

As there is no fixed setup races atm... If he is faster why don't you do it as he does? ..why should this dude who beats you, use the view that you use? Why don't you ask for his tune and maybe be equally as fast or even faster with that? Why should this dude who beats you go slower, instead of you going faster? :)

edit: Just to clarify, I would also love fixed setup races.

Maybe Chronos knows this the same way you know that people are "scared" to race on DR, use TC & ASM, no cockpitview, racing line etc. etc.

I know from personal experience that putting up a fast TT, especially in a "popular" car, is no mean feat: anyone capable of putting up a fast TT is going to be fast racing also.

And yes there are people scared of Daytona Road 750pp. Once they find their AWD cars get smoked here they move to RWD with 600HP at the rear wheels on R1 tires. One or two laps is more then enough to send them back to AWD paradise suzuka 600 with their tail between their legs

I must disagree with you here... I ALWAYS drive the MINES BNR34 GTR no matter what the competition is and always in 750pp.... doesnt matter if its R1s or R3s... if you setup the car right you can be fast.... if its a RWD or AWD... it doesnt matter... I drive Daytona Road often and always end up in the middle or in the top 3 (almost always starting from the back becuz of the high HP I have :P) depending on number of punters there... etc. :) So no my AWD doesnt get smoked all the time... in fact I can get out of the corners quicker, its just the stratights... thats where the RWDs either pull ahead or stay right next to me with my current car setup...

Earth, you are one of my favorite people to race with, but your constant quest for the "perfect" race combo is beyond my comprehension, sorry. Patience!

If you keep complaining I'm going to destroy your Daihatsu again!

other than the GT LM's having a big advantage, i think DR at 750 on the R1's generates a lot of competitive cars. Ive run very well and pull TT times very close in the blitz vette viper mines and the S2k.

I drove the GTLM finnaly the other day and it was very clear why i cant ever seam to beat them. its faster, accles better, handles better and stops better why its still 750PP i have no idea lol.

If you are going 10 Miles per hour in any one of the corners at Daytona Road you prob suck. I suggest giving the track some more time. Or you can go back to your Suzuka and stay there...

I agree with Earth, and I have even said it, a lot of guys we saw in the WE Suzuka event are not to be found in the Daytona Road. Where did they go? My arms are up in the air on this. The only logical guess is they are scared of something different, afriad they might like an American venue.

Also I am sick of hearing about how percise Suzuka is..that track sucks for passing..Its a Narrow track, built for downforce race cars...(don't get me wrong, I love racing there, but the overall racing that can occur is not as good as Daytona Road) At Daytona Road, each turn is a passing zone. There are so many passes that occur on DR its not funny. At DR, you can also race harder, without fear of going off the track as easily..Since there is more room to race.

So you Daytona Road haters, come on out and race us. Drop your AWD crap car on S1 tires at Suzuka.. I can guarentee once you learn how to race DR you will love it. And will forever be one of your fav tracks.

Chad
(Yes I will get some heat for this post)

Well, some people like Suzuka, some Daytona, some HSR, etc. I'm a fan of long tracks (Nurburgring is my fav), so I like daytona as well. Saying that, I played few races online on Daytona tonight in Tuned Corvette and could clearly see why so many people avoid this online race - there was so many 🤬 causing chaos on the road and also so many disconnections. I had about 5-6 races and 3 of which ended on 2nd or 3rd lap with host disconnection. There was also quite few very good drivers which I had few good battles. That's why I'll be back on Daytona tomorrow as well, look out for white Tuned Vette 👍

I will race on ANY track.I don't care what kind. But I do wish more peopke would give this one a chance.I wasn't a big fan before but the more I ran it, the more I relized that it is technical in it,s own way.

afriad they might like an American venue.

No need to get defensive Chad: we love our neighbours to the south & their weird racing culture. ;)

What we need on all the tracks is longer races that reward careful, consistent driving. It just seems to me that in DR 750PP, especially with a full grid (which tends to happen more often in the WE), there's too much of a mad dash to overtake & damn the consequences (because there aren't any!). Suzuka 600PP is a little more refined in my experience. I agree there aren't many places to pass, but I have had a good number of close bumper-to-bumper duels over the last few weeks.

Heh, I was refering to the Anti-American sentiment from Euros lol..

You see Biggles, we have total opposite experiences I think. In Suzuka, I tend to have more crazy races..DR are a lot more relaxed

This is a one-month long series of races, all of them ending on Aug 1. I've toyed with Daytona Road, in various vehicles. I've spent more time at Suzuka (in an F433, CWR, not everyone drives AWD) because it is familiar. It wasn't worth it (for me) to learn the course or set cars up-it's all going to change, remember? Tires, PP, all that.

I love Daytona Road. So do many others. This perception that because it's a US venue it is somehow unattractive to those who participated in the Suzuka world event is foolish. Getting all defensive and imagining reasons why certain people aren't there is.....well, why can't you just enjoy racing, regardless of the competition?

Heh, I was refering to the Anti-American sentiment from Euros lol..

BTW Chad: I love NC - been going to OBX for more tha 20 years to windsurf/kitesurf. 👍

Can you point me to the post with Anti-American sentiment in it, as I can't seem to find it in this topic? I did see some posts with people hating this track, but I find it rather strange to see those as a personal or cultural attack. (Which they are not)

Just for the record, I like Daytona Road a lot.... same goes for Suzuka en Fuji.... I hope they make a 750pp race for Fuji in the next series of races.. would be nice :) and if the ring is in the next update... I will be a VERY happy man :) probably not gonna be there though so I shouldnt get my hopes up :P

Daytona road is more of a.......how should i put this, ..a love and hate i suppose.

More so love that keeps me going back for more all the time.

I'm glad this event is available, it has allowed me to learn the track in a fun way. It's a great track, and I do like the racing there. It's just that the competition is better at suz600, at the times I'm racing. When there was that suzy w.e. I was on holiday and could race around the clock. That was really fun and gave me the oppoturnity to race our mates over the pond. And the races were diamond!! 👍 ..and I'm sure they still are.. too bad I don't have the time to race at those hours.

Find it hard to get on with Daytona Road, it doesn't feel like it has any flow to me. My concentration wanders when racing this track.
