I am glad they didn't do that here, I live fairly close to passenger rail.

last night, today morning, and day before's night.
Yeah, what? Wouldn't this "day before's night" be last night?

Last night would be just passed (it is afternoon here), he means the night before last.

42C today, a "cool change"

I feel for you SA and VIC folk...it's *only* been 35C - 40C here in the ACT for the past few days and it SUCKS!!! I went into work today mainly because I knew I could sit in the Air Con...sad huh?!?

-15C here

Enjoyable!

Better than 45C imo. You can cover yourself as much as necessary to walk around comfortably in the cold, but no matter what you do you can't walk around comfortably in the heat.

Just came out of a pool and for the first time in a week I actually felt cold and wanted the air off for a while!

31°F at 8:26am?!? Sweet. High of 40°F today but to ruin an otherwise great day - wind. Can't win 'em all.

68F here. Darn im freezing...

Looks like a bushfire is going towards a main power line which brings power to most of Melb, hope it dosen't get that far.

psh
alright for some!

its been moderately dull for months, and even last summer was a shambles

Britain's expected to get a big freeze tomorrow and Monday with temperatures dipping to -2C! Hyperbole is not lost on our weather forecasters! Though I don't fancy cycling to college in that on Monday, then again, I will be in the kitchen on Monday so I shouldn't have a problem with keeping warm!

lol waving arms and being dramatic is all theyv got to make this dull place appear interesting. besides it was -5 only a few weeks ago and they didnt make as much fuss then :odd:

Was deliberately lit too i hear, cowards. :grumpy:

Oh my, I wouldnt even try to start a fire in 40 degree heat. Too hot for outside for starters and that would only be increased by the raging fire lit infront of you.

👍

I've always insisted that I'd rather the weather be freezing than boiling. It's a lot easier to warm yourself up in Antarctic weather than it is to cool yourself down in blast-furnace temps.

Must be something around 28°C here atm, but there's quite a bit of wind around so the wind chill factor drops that a bit... makes a change from 30 and no wind :dopey:

I completely agree. I've used the phrase I can always add more clothes to warm up but I can only get so naked.

I don't know what your average temps are like there so I looked it up. Are these numbers fairly close, because if they are, you only have about a 35°F range from summer to winter. Here, we fairly regularly hit -20°F (-29°C) (not counting windchill (a 20mph wind can push that to -50°F (-45°C) right quick)) and go upper 90's (32-37°C) and on occasion 100+ every summer - difference of 110°F every 6 months.

It might not sound like it, but I do feel sorry for you guys. The only time I've been that hot was in a sauna and I could leave whenever I wanted to...

I can't speak for the Aussies, but here in NZ we have a summer average of ~22°C (source: here).

To have 30+ consistently is most unusual.

It's snowing outside!

It snowed in Nottingham earlier too, much to the amusement of some locals. As can be seen on the BBC weather webcam for Nottingham tonight. I'm not going to link to it as it goes against the rules, you'll have to find it yourself to see what I'm talking about.

Snowed today where I live. Went out and took some pics of my parents cars. Nice skies too.

Aww man, I want some snow. :(

Oh well, at least it hasn't been hot here today - quite overcast and dreary. Hopefully we'll get some rain tonight :D

It's much the same here, heat waves like right now are very rare but it is not unusual to go a week or two of low-mid 30's once during summer.
