I'd prefer to melt, to be honest.

And an update over the fires, 12 have been confirmed dead.

No source yet, just saw the ticker on the TV screen.

To be honest, even as Uni Students the snow was only fun for a while. Sure we would have liked more snow days but having to watch every step you make for fear of falling flat on your ass is not fun. Plus waiting for the bus in this weather is killer.

Though, the snowball fights Monday and Tuesday were EPIC.

Try taking a train where the air-con has failed, with about 100 people in the carriage, and the ambient temp is about 50 degrees, you're in long pants.

Now put that into perspective.

Trapped between two advancing fire fronts, I'd think.

I've sat in a 747 for 2 hours with no air-con and it was 35C outside ;)

It's still not 50 outside.

Because they take all measurements in the shade.

Which is why it peaked at 65.3C or something on the tennis courts at the Aus Open.

Atleast it's nice and cool now. I think it's around 25 or so outside right now, :)👍

Our holiday house had a scare from the fires.

But yeah, it's nice. The doors are open, and for some reason, there aren't any insects biting. Nice and humid.

There's insects everywhere here, can't wait a minute without hearing a fly buzzing within a few cm's from your ear :(.

I beg to differ.

At least I didn't have cricket today. That would have defined horrid.

Because they measure air temperature not sunload.

Sorry to hear about the fire related deaths :(

We're ****ing snowed in right now. Literally. I can't get my car out.. It's snowed for 24 hours straight now, I would have swapped in an instant.

Death toll rises past 35 following Melbourne's hottest day since record-keeping began. Link here.

-11 last night, and this is about as south in Canada as it's possible to be, relatively speaking.

Shame to see that the fires could have possibly been lit by people throwing out cigarette butts.

Wow, so while you guys are burning up we've had the most prolonged snow is years. Crazy stuff.

Not only that but in north-east Australia, Queensland is experiencing record floods. Link here.

Yeah, the weather in Australia is weird and crazy at the moment.

Whenever we get stinking hot weather I always think there must be freezing weather somewhere on the other side of the world to even it out.

Nice 25ish day here finally.

I was planning to use this cool spell to work on my car, then I get offers to go out.. Nope I worked on my car instead. :D

Death toll just rose to 65.

Worst day ever for Victoria bushfire wise.

Sorry for the ad but you can donate via a hotline-1800 811 700.

Wow its own ashes day.

I know.

I guess it's the fact that we are sandwiched between Antarctica and the Desert that does it.

Tassie gets a milder version of what we get.

Death toll is now 84. Worse than Ash Wednesday and worse than Black Friday (71 dead in 1939). Brian Naylor (Melbourne newsreader) & his wife are amongst those to have perished. 3 towns basically scorched off the map, over 700 homes destroyed.

Totally tragic situation.

Wow this unbelievable, I feel sorry for you, we are enjoying a nice sea breeze at around 27-30 degrees. Very nice and cool up here in QLD.

EDIT: I just heard on the news 108 confirmed dead.

Almost appeared that the Sky was burnt too...

My car got covered in Ash on Saturday. I remember a few of years ago when the Dandenongs were ablaze, which are no more than 5km from my house, from my front Window you could see half of the Mountain alight, it's absolutely terrifying, because you know that their are heaps of houses up there. On Saturday evening a fire broke out in that area again, only about 3-4km from my house, they'd blocked off the main road and every 10 minutes you heard a fresh wave of sirens, and the sky was littered with water bombing Helicopters. luckely they contained it by that night.

The problem is it's just so dry here, for people living outside of Victoria, we have had 0.8mm of rain this year. Together with last week of 45+ degrees, the grass is just straw basically, ready to ignite. And the trees are so withered and dry that they just ignite as well. I'll take a picture outside my work later today so you can see the colour of our cricket oval, it's pretty surreal.

Incredibly sad. We didn't have power on Saturday (so no news for us during the early stages of the fire) but we could see the black smoke in the distance. Shocking to learn that we've lost over 100 people in Vic. :(
