My wish is that they would focus all of their efforts on making and releasing all needed patches to solve any issues remaining in GT5 first.

After that, I would probably not be too interested in paying for more cars, as there are already several hundred in the game that I'll never get around to driving.
New tracks however, I would be interested in, as I'm already burning out on the limited selection we have, and the fact that A-spec & B-spec really ram a select few down your throat, while others got the cold shoulder (I'm looking at you Tsukuba & Suzuka! )

Give me a DLC pack with Seattle, Test Course, Red Rock, Apricot Hill, Mid Field, Spa, A1 ring, Road Atlanta, Sebring, & Interlagos, and then I'd be as happy as could be. ;)

And remember anything they make now (cars and tracks) will be free on the GT6 disc.

They'll all be on the disc but you'll have to unlock them all individually for $1.99 a car and $3.99 a track

Obviuosly that's a joke but if PD do go down the rout of payed for DLC, there will be no end to them screwing yet more of your hard earned cash from you.

I think it would be better to do both at the same time, since the entire team doesn't really focus on one thing at a time.

Say for example, the modeling team could be busy with improving standard cars/tracks as well as modeling new content...

While the guys responsible for the UI and physics could fix the bugs and whatnot in them...

and so on with the graphics and sound department, etc.

Consumers are becoming more informed, I reckon that within the not too distant future we'll come to a point where unfair business practices are unacceptable and unsustainable, I live in hope!

The gaming industry is having the time of its life, though, and online distributed products have never been as widely spread as they are now. Furthermore, people tend to be a lot less reasonable about the money they spend on their hobbies/spare time and the like than on necessities like food and whatnot...

Either way, even if everyone knows it's not fair what they're doing... They've got a monopuly going, so the real deal is this:

There's this pack featuring a premium Veyron SS, the Gumpert Apollo Sport, Radical SR8 LM, M3 E30, JZA80 Supra, all premium... 9,95$. Not fair, but, is that going to sell? Hell yeah, it's so going to sell :D

Yeh, I'd by that, but i'd feel dirty, oh so dirty.

You are aware the upgraded premiums will replace standards so if you gift someone an upgraded premium if they haven't purchased the DLC it will revert to standard.

Hold on a minute, nobody from PD or Sony has said anything about how the standard to premium cars will be implemented in the game. Your statement is a complete guess based on absolutely nothing.

The wording of "plans to upgrade the standard cars to premium model" and "Among the standard cars are some historical classics, and we plan on remaking them as premium cars," said Yamauchi, implies to me that they will be replacing standard models.

But you're correct, it could be either/or and I was too strong in my assertion.

This is just my opinion but I see them adding the cars to your garage when you buy the DLC, much like what happened with the stealth car codes. To actually give you a car (premium) and take another out (standard) is just extra work for the developer and really doesn't make sense.

Plus, say they upgraded the Audi R8 LMS Race car from Standard to Premium.
If they just add a premium model in, then no problem.
BUT, if they replace the standard one with a premium one; what happens to my upgrades? Do I lose hundreds of thousands of credits that I spent toward my car?

Great point. Another reason as to why it just doesn't make sense to replace the standard with premium. Like I said, I can see the premium version just appearing in your garage when you buy the DLC and you'll still have the standard version that you can choose whether to keep or not.

Well if it did happen that way, no because the premium car model/skin just overwrites the old standard model/skin, the car is the same just a premium model/skin would be displayed for it instead.

That seems like a LOT of extra coding to prevent this. I would assume they want to keep the coding on add-in cars as light as possible to prevent it from causing too many glitches.

What the hell are you caring about? Is it more important to have a new premium model or to keep all this crappy tuning parts? Buy new parts, who cares?

Good fail at trolling.

I don't want to be doing roundy rounds just so I can get my upgrades and tuning settings back the way I want them. Go troll somewhere else.

Random:
It's 4 AM. I'm gonna go to sleep now.

Think of each car as an entity in the game, each entity is broken down into model, texture/skin and a list of numbers for performance, upgrades and tuning options(or there could be a single large stats list containing those figures for all cars)

To "upgrade" a model from standard to premium the DLC could simply overwrite the model and texture data but leave the other data untouched.

Not allot of work really.

Why? Everything is just pure code, if the Standard car gets replaced with a different 3D model, everything else can still be maintained. Physics, stats, specifications etc. are something completely different. They actually already did it in the 1.05 patch, the rear from the Acura NSX was changed.

Still, it's just all speculation, if's, but's and maybes and when you think about the easiest way to do it, it's just putting a new premium version in the game. You buy the DLC, you get the car in your garage, it also shows up in the dealearships incase you wish to buy it again in game.

I wouldnt pay to have the standard cars in premium, esp if the pack will consist of one nice car and a bunch of ****box from japan or a mix of S2k, Skylines and Miatas..

But i will pay if they decide to add new cars in premium resolution or new tracks.

Why mention XBL? Because if people are going to compare console sims to PC sims using price, then I will use both FM3 and GT5.

And I also have a feeling that if paid DLC is released for GT5, PS+ subscribers will get discounts on it.

Since price is an issue: Let's look at the price of other PC sims.

LFS: $20. This sim is absolutely incredible. I only played the demo, but I loved every second of it.
rFactor: $40. I bought this and can say the $40 was worth it. Sometimes the mods release are of poor quality, but I found some good mods that make me happy. (Released in 2006)
rFactor 2: Price unknown, but very likely to be less than $60. Includes dynamic weather, daytime/night time (like RF1), damage (like RF1), complete mechanical failure system (like RF1), comparable graphics to GT5. (Maybe will be released in 2011?)

GT5 and FM3 are good, but I don't feel like their price is justified.

rFactor is my sim of choice, and I've been involved in mod development in that game, but you're crazy if you think RF2's graphics will be anywhere near that of GT5. ISI has already said it's more of an add-on than an all new game. Essentially they're adding a new menu system and weather effects. Speculation is that rFactor 1 mods will be easily upgraded to rFactor 2. I think you'll be greatly let down by rFactor 2 if you expect it to be on par with GT5. It will struggle to be on par with GT4 graphically.

Since you're so insistent on including the price of unnecessary subscriptions of 2 consoles into your calculations, I guess I can include the price difference of a gaming PC to that of a console?

I maintain that your comparisons are juvenile, naive and ridiculous, but we will have to agree to disagree. 👍

I expect they will charge you to get them on the spot. But they will all be installed regardless, otherwise how could you race them.

They should send me a loaded handgun because every time I hear that stupid idiotic song with kids singing at the start of a race I seriously want to shoot myself in the face.

:tup:That has nothing to do with the premise of this thread but LMAO.👍 Plus when you change bgm, it just goes back again! Ghosts in the machine eh? Haunts my sleep! All the menu music blows azz:censored: :trouble: FWIW, I bet it'll be fixed if you stick around to wait.

BTW, a little bkgnd on virtual car building: watch the video about the SLS AMG. They are perfectionists. It's not just punching in numbers when they make a new model which is another reason why you see repeated cars in GT games.

Ya that.... orrrrrrr you could just remove it from the playlist. Just sayin.

That principal makes me lol, you are aware the whole PD team probably are on £1,000,000 salaries(or more).

This has everything to do with greed and nothing to do with making a living.

I don't get how people just roll over to games companies and accept this sort of thing...seriously :P

I'd love to know in what reality that 150 game designers are on a combined yearly salary of £150,000,000..........
