This is real exciting! I am a bit busy this afternoon and will be working most of the day tomorrow. But I will look into what you can restrict in online races so we have something definite to work off of, on the game side.

I do agree though, that although we are aiming to base this on the real spec miata configurations. If need be, we should adjust them so that it can be better regulated in the game.

It would be just as much fun, and we'd all be spec'd accordingly.

Great idea !

This is real exciting! .

Totally agree with you ! :)

Here is what I found so far not sure R1600 did came to the same conclusion. It is kind of impossible to match the rule book 100%, since there are stuff that GT5 is incapable of without certain mods.

Just some observation:

- In order to get some sort of camber adjustment, you will have to be using the height adjustable suspension mod. If you want to add toe adjustments, it will have to be custom suspension mod.
- I think Stage 1 weight mod is as far as it should go.
- clutch and flywheel can remain stock.
- I think wheels can be changed to get some varity from car, I checked they won't change the weight of the vehicle.
- Rule book dictates the 1.6 can have tower bars, but giving the 1.6 the chassis rigidity mod but not the 1.8 seemed unfare on papar, may be lap times can show otherwise.
- I think front aero mod is ok, just to add some varity to the cars.
- I think all cars can have race cat and cat back mod, as the rule book dictates the cat can be gutted and cat back is legal; but stock manifold only.
- stock hood shall be kept.
- lightweight windows mod? I am for it, I don't think they race with glass in the doors anyway, but I could be wrong.
- Too bad we can't put number on cars........:ouch:

Anyone know those stock miatas actually came with LSD's??

Hey guys, I've got it all set up and each year of miata has specific mods they can have to keep it even. Stays within the scca rules too. I'll post specifics and a spread sheet on Monday.

Nice! 👍

Oh I am SO down for this! I love racing that takes the car selection/modding out of the equation and leaves only driver skill to determine who wins... it always makes for a closer race.

And to anyone interested: I have a brand new Eunos Roadster J-Limited (NA) '91 in Sunburst Yellow still sitting on my delivery truck, untouched (I had already bought the same exact car). Let me know what you'd trade for it, could save you from spending the 19,000 on a new one. ;)

Hey I am made a Spec Miata server, just doing some runs testing cars, if anyone wants to join. :dopey:
Server number? I'll drop in.

Another very good reason I'm in for this kind of one make race, specially the Miata !

I bought exactly the same today... :)

Everything is what I have in mind except:
- The suspension settings. I'm against the fact we could play with this kind of settings. I'm sure the settings are far too big as compared as the original settings and I would like the driver'skills to be the one that will lead to the victory. But I agree for stronger coil springs.
- Aero mode must not change any aerodynamics physics... If it is the case, we must not allow them.
- I remember having a limited slip differential on my real Miata (that was an option and it is authorized by SCCA).

Wow. This seems really exciting. so any eunos, mx-5, or miata is allowed within the mod requirements? also i think the height ajustable suspension should be used to keep costs and over-tuning to a minimum.

Edit: We could also run an official test on saturday to work out the last few bugs in our race setup. In addition a track should be voted on during the week so we can decide where to race, preferably a real track.

Air cone filters are allowed only on the first generation until 95.

And if I understand well, the actual generation of Miata are not allowed.

Laguna Seca for a start would be great. And after that, only real tracks, like you said.

Im gonna agree on both fronts. i will buy my mx-5 tommorow and wait for more info.

Don't think the chin spoiler will change much of the physics of the car, if any at all. If you've seen it on the 1.6, you will see. It is just a small lip, very similar to what SCCA spec miata allows.

Just to clarify, SCCA do allow camber/toe/caster alterations as along as it is within factory adjustments.

Just did a bunch for runs with another member here, I pointed him to this thread as he shows interest in spec series.

If it is just a small lip, I don't mind !

I'm just afraid that the fully adjustable suspension in the game has way more possibilities in term of tuning (speaking about the numbers of millimeters and degrees) compared to the original factory adjustments that are possible on a Miata.
And I wont have time to play with this part of the game. But I will for sure have time to put the car on specs and go to race.

Actually, I'm a brand new member :) This being my first ever GT.. Only bought a wheel about a month ago :P

The races we ran were extremely close, and every little error seems to make a fairly dramatic difference on time. I'm definitely interested in the races are anything like what we ran.

wow, hey man!

Was gonna say, I made a Spec Miata game, many people showed up. I just finish racing with a few guys.

Would anyone be opposed to everyone using just the premium Miatas? More customization with wheels and the lip spoiler, and we can really keep the racing super close. Just a thought.

That makes alot more sense. they run the same 1.6 motor so we would just need to pull the 2 cars to parady. the only problem would be some people already have standards set up.

True, but already having something set up shouldn't matter. We're not running much more than a brand new stock car anyway...

On another note; let's do this right now! Just for fun lets get a good Miata race going this afternoon. :dopey:

How did you do to be sure everybody had the exactly same car tuning ?

The thing is, I created room called "Spec Miata No Assist" thinking I am just gonna get a feel of the car on different circuits, and if some one had a similar car and wanna race? fine with me. Then, people start asking "oh spec miata, what are the rules?" I told them I am just testing for a Spec Miata series, but they ask me what I had on the car now and told me to wait so they can build one so we can race. It was fun man. Obviously I point them here.

Either way it is fine by me, no way I am not driving with cockpit view if available so will be using the P car anyway.

I wouldn't worry about it, the car is dirt cheap to begin with and it is a spec series so mods are minimal. We are talking may be $40k GT5 money. In addition, what we have built right now might not even be to the final rules. Very likely we will have to build another one anyway.

That's why I suggested this earlier in the thread. It's EASIER for you, the organizer. :)

I'll open a room every day of this week around 1, 2 or 3PM (New York time) to try my Spec Miata...

... with some races too !

Everybody will be very welcome to come and share their opinion.

I wonder. Is there a way we can have one room "SHARE WITH FRIENDS" an entire car? That way it would be completely legit with no risk of over modding.
