man i want one of these so bad. but i was wondering if therye really worth the money. i heard they were a lot. i just wanna know what other people think of them.

My friend has a 15 gig one and yes it's pretty awesome. I'm thinking of buying one, but this looks pretty good too. And it also doubles as a portable HDD.

I'd actually rather an iRiver iFP-390T...:) I don't need more than 200MB for my songs, so 256MB would be a nice enough cushion for me.

I've got a 20 gig pod and let me say, i can't imagine life without it now. I've had it for 2 months and it's come in handy for both music and for massive data transfer between my laptop & my friend's laptop. I generally keep about 3000+ songs in my library at all times plus several hundered megs of backed up data. I love this thing. The down side is that I can't go jogging or mountain biking without risking damage to the HD.

I know this is an old thread, but I didnt want to start a new one, since there was one already for the Ipod. well here's my question. Is it possible to drag and Drop song files onto the new Ipod (30GB Black Model)?????? If so, how do you do it?? I dont really get itunes much. I hook up my ipod to the pc and it starts transferring music. I just want to choose the songs I want and be able to put them on the ipod in specific folders I created...if its even possible.

I have the same model! Anyways, this is how I do it:

1) Go to iTunes, and to where the songs you want are located. I just go to the "Library"(where your entire catalog is).

2) While holding "Ctrl" key, click on the songs that you want to select(transfer to iPod).

3) When you are done highlighting all the songs you want to transfer, drag and drop it to your iPod on the left hand side of the screen, under "Source".

Maybe somebody can help me. When I'm highlighting songs, do I have to click each song at a time, or is there a easier way to highlight multiple songs at the same time?

Hey, I've also got a 30GB Ipod video in black. And I've also got a question.

I was putting some some song from another computer onto current computer so that I could get them into Itunes and onto the Ipod. I'm using MacOSX btw.
I put the songs directly into the music file and start up Itunes and import all the albums (3 of them). They look all ok in Itunes so I copy them over onto the Ipod. Once they are on the Ipod the songs work all ok but instead of being 1 section for the band (under artist) there are 3??? Just the name of the band repeated thrice. One section contains 2 albums, 1 contains 1 album and the last section contains 1 song...

All the songs work perfectly fine but it's just bothering me. If anyone has any idea on how to fix this.....and can understand what my problem is :D

I ran into something similar. I ripped some Paul McCartney CDs over the weekend. One was under "Paul McCartney & Wings" name, so I changed it to just "Paul McCartney", but it's separated from the rest. Now there is like, three "Paul McCartney" in there. I was going to look into it, but I forgot. :D If I figure it out, I'll PM you.

You get those separated albums, artists, genres, etc if you have even the slightest diffenrece in name between those. For example:

one goes Paul McCartney
and other may be something like Paul McCartney.<-----Look at the period.
Something that small and stupid, iTunes won't detect it and put it in a separate album.

Or, for example, it may say "Eminem" on artist, but on another it may be like "Eninem" can you see the difference? its the n after the E.

Just double check if all names are right. I had problems with my iPod 15GB with something like that; I keep making typos and they all show up as separate albums or artists :grumpy: its frustrating

To be honest, I think iPods suck. I had a 20gb 4g iPod last year and I got rid of that thing within a month of buying it. My major beef with them is using iTunes instead of drag and drop and not enough format support. The marketing is what really makes the product better than what it really is.

Fortunately, manufacturers like iRiver, Creative, and Cowon (to name a few) are out there actually making competent mp3 players.

My list of alternatives :dopey: :

Cowon iAudio X5L
iRiver H320
Creative Zen Vision: M
Rio Karma 👍

Yea, a6m5 just PM'd me this earlier and that's solved the problem.

Thanks guys.

I just went to the stores to get an MP3 player and saw one for 40,-
But the problem was that that was the cheapest MP3 player there so it would have very much quality, I assumed:irked: I asked someone who worked there and he confirmed my suspicion. He soon was pointing at MP3 players at around 80,- then he said "and for 10,- more you have 512MB".

....isn't there any quality MP3 player thats just cheaper and doesn't have 30GB? I dont need friggin 30GB, 250MB is just fine for me.

Cool thing about the 30 & 60GB iPod is the video. First, I wish I could fit my entire CD collection on it, so more GBs the better. Also, video podcasts are the bomb! They are free, and are just like TV shows. I sometimes watch them doing lunch breaks. My favorite is the 1up.com's, which features many familiar faces from the EGM Magazine(videogame mag). I also watch ABC News, VOD(drifting, WRC, etc. clips), etc. :)

What format are the vids in, a6m5?
I don't know, I just download them from iTunes. Sorry. :P

If there's a way to find out, I'd be happy to look into it though!

Yeah, I don't like iTunes much either, drag and drop would be nice. But I like the iPod itself (I have a shuffle 1Gb), it's pretty usual for its price but now I'm thinking in maybe getting a Nano 4Gb because of the extra space and the screen.

I dont get why people complain about not being able to drag and drop. You can drag and drop stuff into the ipod like any file on your desktop. Only difference is that you do it on itunes.

I hope some of you know that you do not need a library on your comp to put music into the ipod (you'd be suprised how many itunes users dont know this) :nervous:

Connect it it to a PC without iTunes. Can you put songs on it then? True drag and drop doesn't need extra software.

That's true. If you don't mind iTunes, get one. You can always download it and see what you think, but i like it :)

I don't miss drag and drop, personally, but some will.

I sold my shuffle to a friend. I was short of money and I'm thinking of getting a w800i, which would serve me as an cell phone and a mp3 player (and a decent camera 👍), so I did it.

Either that or I'll get a nano...

true drag and drop as in just drop stuff into a folder?

try drag and drop does not sort your music by ID3 tags. So unless all your audio files are labled in a specific way, your folder will be a big mess. It gets quite messy when u have thousands of songs and videos

I keep my music organised. It goes like this: P ---> Pink Floyd ---> The Wall. Your problem if you didn't organise them while ripping/downloading.

I currently have a W800i with 1GB of memeory and it serves its music purpose very well, also quite handy as it is also is a phone and has 2MP camera, RDS radio, internet (which i don't use) and games. It's also quite light and small!

I would get an Ipod, but only if i wanted to store loads and loads of music as it would be convienient for that purpose, but for now i'll stick with my W800i.
