Doesn't make it any more accurate. I've taken tests with a wider variety of questions -- results are still the same.

My point was, they could have tried to make it seem authentic, like many of the enormous test. Instead, they commit a double whammy - they cater to lazy people and their belief that IQ tests are accurate  .

I don't think they are 100%(or even 80% accurate), but I always score between 120's to 130's.

Detailed I.Q. Test
Congratulations!
Your general IQ score is 134

See! :p

IQ tests are written by who?

Stephen Hawkings. And so.. the so called smartest man alive is what we're being measured up against. According to him, we have this score.. pfft.

Fat chance the IQ test was written by Stephen Hawking. He'd give you a score from 1-5.

I dunno.. I heard my teacher utter that...

Makes sense sorta though, getting the smartest person alive to make the test.

It wouldn't make sense if someone above average would write a test, because people could get impossibly high scores. =/

The IQ test originated from Sir Francis Galton, Alfred Binet, and a couple of other people -- more recently Howard Gardner.

These tests are thought to be 20 points off, or so; many of them.

Ok. I got 119, but I think slow. Using the same answers but entering them fairly quickly, I got 164.

I'll take 119 since I've usually scored no better than slightly over 130 on these tests.

I have taken this test before.

There's no way to have the smartest person alive, anyway. Someone will always be more knowledgable in some area than another.

Probably, but it's still nice to know that if I could process data faster I'd be a genius. Ha ha.

If that's the case then my IQ could be anywhere as "low" as 98 or as "high" as 190. These tests were originally designed to label people -- to put people in classes with "like-minded" individuals. I don't think these tests are about 20 points off... I think they're completely made up.

 I think we all could use more RAM. :D

Interesting. I've never taken a proper I.Q. test anyway, just do-it-yourself ones. Kinda like fun ,mind exercise. :)

I've taken a proper IQ test, a fairly long winded and old one. Measured at 145 or so, but that was back in HS.

On most of these online tests, I get anywhere between 135-145.

This is a ****ty test. Too easy, and then to make up for that, they grade you according to speed. If I was actually serious about this, I could've gotten over 160. If I'd taken my time, I would've gotten 130. I got a 154, first and only try.

As they're including time in the scores, I bet the maximum you could get would be 160 only. Probably means most of us are smarter than the test-maker.

The Stephen Hawking joke is a partial truth. An IQ test can only measure your intelligence against the tester or designer. For pattern recognition and abstraction, the IQ test will only be accurate in determining that you see patterns in a similar way to the designer.

For the rest of the areas of IQ testing, cultural bias plays such a huge role that your scores will swing wildly based on where you live, your educational background, and your cultural background. I've scored high on almost every IQ or aptitude test I've ever taken merely because my Dad's a logic puzzle freak, and I learned the norms of the logic puzzle from him. If I were a Bantu tribesman, I could have the intelligence of Einstein and still only score an 80.

In other words, I've practiced for IQ tests all my life. Whenever I get a low score (below 95% or maybe IQ 130) on an abstract reasoning exam, it's usually locally designed and poorly executed. In other words, I'm smarter than the test maker. On professionally designed tests, I usually score relatively high. Online tests score me ten points lower. Meh.

Mind excercise is fun -- I don't deny that. :)

As long as the scores are not being used to hurt people, I'm not against IQ tests.

I'd love to see that.

This is true -- I'm glad you brought that up. 👍

Seriously. I spent all this time verifying things in my head. But, all that really matters is time.

second time through I got a 169.

I got bored after about 10 questions and got a 93.

What a crappy test,

I also got bored after question 11 so I quickly guessed the rest without even reading them and got a score of 120.

umm... 300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah right. i'm happy though that its gone up 18 points since the last time i've taken one of these little things.

the fact that i havent been in school since then proves my theory that schools does more harm then good!

anyway. to be honest i'm only "highly intelligent" by this test.
