I think I'm gonna buy the corvette and compete w/ that. I havent done any racing in a while.

All the new stuff, Corvette, mosport, and IRL are available for pre-purchase.

I've pre-ordered the Corvette and Indy Car. I'll probably be racing the Indy Car next season, although the 8 road course/4 oval course schedule worries me. I might just run it for the road courses and have a play in the 'Vette on the oval weekends, because ovals tend to eat my SR and iRating...

(Milwaukee in the Star Mazda is a case in point)

I dont know if i can handle the indy car -_-. the mazda's a handful for me, but i havent tried the new physics yet. I'll grab the corvette and mosport for sure, though :D they'll probably be available tomorrow

One of the guys from iracing on the form said most likely Thursday for the cars, but i haven't tried Mosport out yet. been to busy attempting to get my oval SR up but there's to many rookies in there that think its a crash fest. but i herd the new tires on the Mazda make things a lot better especially when putting a wheel off or going in the grass all together. Hopefully I'll have my SR up by Thursday so i can play with my new vette all weekend

Yesterday I hosted Test-Session with ten Finns... Late Models on Watkins.

It was total blast in every aspect... I cant even describe in English, how awesome things worked.

Let me tell, that most exciting imo, was Qualify! Yes... it was just amazing to thrill your own position, others laps, fuel, tyres, and try to figure out right time to do last pit-stop, and last lap!!! Sooo great!

We had 140min Practice, 20min Qualify, and then 11 laps Sprint.

Pure awesomeness. Race should have been be littlebit longer, but people had early wakes and things, so our goal was just to get used to track and structure of Hosting.

If there could be chance to have two 11 lappers in one session, it could have been even more great. Second start in order of firsts finish... only thing I littlebit missed.

iRacing really made this service to ROCK!

to run maxed out with a lot of cars in front of you, you might need a 4890, gtx285, or a 5850.

i run a GTX260 with everything maxed but i also have an AMD quad core CPU to go with it. So if your running dual core you might want to step up to the next one up.

just for comparison, I have Dual Core 7550, and Nvidia 8800gt. I can easily get stable 60fps even in longest tracks with over twenty racers.

I have disabled all useless candies outside of tracks,(spectators, nonetheless details, farscape, etc) and sometimes just to be sure, also shadows and/or shaders from cars, if I know it's gonna be big grid.

i am speaking with everything maxed out. :p I can run everything maxed out w/ my i7 and 5850 and 6gigs of ram now @ 1680x1050.

Corvette and Dallara are released now! I'm downloading ATM.

The Corvette is a beast of a car to drive. I'm having problems figuring out a setup for VIR for next week let alone just making it more then 2 laps with out destroying the car. its going to be a fun season thats for sure.

hop into one of the hosted servers. someone will share a fast set. then you can tinker with it.

The Indy Car is an absolute beast, I love it. I think every other car in my iRacing garage just got put into retirement!

Bought the Vette even though I'm still D class. Hoping to get some practice laps in before I can race it.

Just a lap from practice in the Indy Car.

Blake that is a fantastic video. Thanks for posting it.

I have a couple of questions regarding iRacing:

1)Can you remove the in-cockpit steering wheel and have just the dashboard?

2)Does anyone happen to know which city/state iRacing's servers are located in?

1. yes you can remove the steering wheel

2. they have servers in Massachusetts and servers in Australia.

the new england community is pretty strong. too :) I used to run lots of practices w/ them in the summer

OK thanks :)

I might give it a try now that I know the wheel can be removed. Massachusetts eh? I'm in Los Angeles. So I should expect to get a pretty good ping, no?

Thanks. 👍

Regarding the steering wheel, in the Indy Car the shift lights and lap time information are displayed on the steering wheel, so when you disable the steering wheel it still appears in the Indy Car but is stationary.

Apparently you can't really notice it when you drive.

I know in Florida I have a good ping usually under 100 and the guys in Europe have good ping usually just around 100. So you shouldnt have any problems as long as your not on dial up.

Damn the Corvette is a beeoch to drive, although not in the way that I remember from the old GT games, where you would spin out at the slightest touch of the throttle, this things brakes are uber ridiculous. I've been able to come to a stop once with out locking them up. Rarh

its pretty nice i think. this was a pretty long time ago. Well, Im off to do some racing in the star mazda

This seems like a nice game. I wonder if it's playable from over here, especially since I'm on a 1Mbit connection. :(

I've seen two friends play it and its amazing. I must admit i'm not really a pc gamer anymore, made way for the console and Iracing's lack of "up to date" graphics are a bit annoying, but given the nature of the PC platform, any competitive individual would lower all settings to gain FrameRate anyways. If Iracing was on console, they could lock graphic settings for a better experience, while maintaining a proper frame rate... but who am i to judge ;)

The best way to answer your question on connection tho, is to try it for a month. Its pretty much the price of a movie ticket anyways.

Yeah I've read on another forum there's a free 30 days trial when you register (or at least there was, the thread was a bit old). Can anyone confirm this?
