congrats! Really nice guy Derek. He's said very positive things about my HPD sets that i've had on the forums.

Really cool guy! I was talking with him just the other day about a custom box PC/PS3 compatible and I got this baby now! Woohoo!

oops! sorry, give me about 30 minutes and I'll let you know what I find

*edit*

Used the fixed setup with full fuel. Second lap ran a 46.5 and third was a 45.505

So the times I don't think were effected that much. Replay will be below. If you want a setup really badly just ask and i'll see what I can do. But be specific what kind of characteristics you want the car to have ;D

Actually, if you want the replay you'll have to PM me your email. It's over the 2mb limit :D

no way... hmmm gotta run the fixed setup now and see how i am doing. will report back later

Oh man, after doing a 20 lap run in pratice yesterday with only minor incidents I signed up for the 5PM US EST race and it went horrible!!! Oh God, worst most stressfull race I've had in iRacing! Laguna can be such a tough track! I started from the pits looking for an incident free race, big mistake!! After many offs, 3 spins in the last corner and a 0x contact incident wich led to yet another spin I was relieved to see that the majority of the incidents and non of the spins counted since they all happened under 25 MPH and I only got -1 SR and something like +30 IR. So at the end it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but I didn't enjoy that race at all!!

@Jav: Nice button box mate 👍

I've been looking on Derek's website at those (and they're excellent) but have decided to make my own. I'll post up in my thread when it's complete... :)

ok so i ran a 10 lap stint with just the fixed suzuka setup and after 10 laps my fastest was a 1.45.800 .

wonder what the uber aliens are capable of doing? 42 for sure...

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you guys have any tips on braking? I find that I often brake to early, too late, too hard, or too little when driving in GT5, and I don't want these mistakes to be magnified in the iRacing world. I'm using Clubsports by the way.

I was thinking about it too! I even talked to him a week ago about the possibility of using the circuit board from a PS3 controller and turning it into a button box that could be used with the PS3 and PC.
I'm intrigued to see what you can do, I'll be watching your thread! Ohh and BTW it turnde out awesome! Love the monitor mount design! Well done Simon!

@Crispy, Yeah I think I'm still having trouble with corners & braking efficiently on complex road courses. I think only one road course (phoenix road) so far did I come close to within the leading times (like -0.5s off).

In regards to track selection the safe bet is grabbing up the obvious popular ones like Watkins Glen, Mid Ohio, & Road America. These 3 seems to popup in every Road series. Keep in mind you can 'fast track' and skip licenses. For instance, I am considering fast tracking up to Class A by doing a little F1 racing next week once I hit 4.0+ in my Class B. So I would be skipping all the Class B series like Prototype & GT for now.

It depends on what you want to do. Maybe the Ford Mustang might be a good choice. You can use that to get up to Prototype & GT just by buying just that car and a handful of tracks.

Well, considering i've only been a few tenths off of the Uber Alien times in the HPD. I'd say with a little more practice, we might be seeing low 43's for qualifying, and I think mid 45's at the beginning of the stint will be good race pace.

Hey fella's is there a way to cancel thee auto subscibe feature?

Click "my account" and somewhere in there there is a auto subscribe feature turn off function.

Guess im doing just fine with these times and im happy.

Yeah they'll probably be fine. I don't expect myself to be getting much quicker than that 45.5. I pretty much already know that track like the back of my hand so it's not really a track learning curve for me.

Only double posting to bump this thread.

But, just did about an hour of testing. Quali time of 1:44.103 and a high fuel load time of around 1:45.1

*edit*

I was just looking at the forums. I'm farther off than I expected. Guys are running low 42's... I don't get it. I've raced at this track in real life and have been competitive in the HPD all season. A bit confused.

I have to race the Lotus at Suzuka today as I'll be away on the weekend and I'm trying to do the eight weeks so I can get some bonus money. Hope enough people show up to make it official.

That's the disappointing thing bout participating in these Class C & higher races is that many appear to have participation problems besides the lucky few (like prototype & GT). I might jump to prototypes or something next season. Granted, so far Grand Am races have been going official on weekends which is wehn I'm really active (plus has one race on the other days so far)

Yup! I was all exited because I broke into the 45s in one of Derek's hosted sessions only to see I was 3 seconds off of the fastest aliens!

Man I wanted to do the whole season in Grand Am, but I just won't be forced to buy stupid oval tracks that I just dont like!

How many laps do I need to complete in order for the race to count for me?

I just tried the Suzuka race but in the end of the first lap my computer freaked out and the framerate went from 60 to 9. I obviously spun but luckily no one hit me. After about ten seconds the framerate went back to 60, two laps later, same thing...

I think my VGA is heating up too much, it had heating problems before and today is very hot over here.

Edit: Crap, just saw it on the website. In order to get the credits I need to complete 50% of the race. Only did 6 laps out of 25...

Guys im sorry to bother u but i joined iracing today and i installed everything and went to go test my legend car on charlotte and it was extremely laggy and its said 0 fps... Suggestions?.

Don't be sorry, possibly lower your graphics quality, if this is already low then maybe you need to upgrade your computer. There is a technical thread somewhere on this forum, maybe you could compare your conputer to some other players.

make sure that your graphics card has the latest driver installed!(makes a big difference depending how old the current driver is) and if u can, lower the graphic detail to LOW LOW LOW on everything.

@Chet53, that sucks ya tell us your computer specs. Try turning down the shadows and crowd objects to see if that helps.

sad thing is that's where I'm at my fastest (Iowa & Phoenix) which are the two most unpopular road-oval courses. But I would say I'm still 2 seconds off pace. Not sure where to cut off more time. I'll have to go beg for a replay like a begger at the forums I guess :ouch:

Patrocles
ouch! What are your computer specs?

I really dont know any of that stuff. Its a brand new hp laptop 150gb hd and i have comcast high speed inet. Ive downloaded all software and updates. Thats all i know. I dont know anything bout graphics cards or nothing. All graphics are turned to lowest setting. I dont know if i could find the specs somewhere, if i can i dont know where to even start to look.

oh oh !

well since its a laptop, it should state the major specs of it somewhere on the left or right side where you usually place your hand palm on when youre typing... if that is not the case, then do this.

Click start -> right click on computer -> select properties there it should name all major specs that are important for us to help u out :)
