2nd win at suzuka now :) 2 more days on this track, time for a shot of irating boost!

also fast tracked to C Class now.

Question:

If I do the min for C Class and get above 3.0 just before the promotions in a few weeks, thats enough for B Class or do I need to do a minimum X weeks in C Class?

Also, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to get to B without hurting irating or ttrating :(

I am open to hear strategies on how to get C without hurting my ratings a lot. I was thinking of hanging up the SKip boots until rest of the season, massively study star mazda or mustang (which is easier?) aim for the last weeks track, do 4 time trails with minimum damage to my ttrating.

As long as you do 4 races in a C-Class series and have above a 3.0 SR you will meet the MPR and be promoted at the end of the season. I wouldn't worry much about your iRating, it's 1330 now and a long as you stay consistent and finish top 6 or so even in the bottom splits your iRating won't fluctuate much. Remember, fluctuations of +/- 200 in iRating during any given week is completely normal.

The Star Mazda is a very popular car, the Mustang not so much. You will find many more opportunities for official races in the Star Mazda. Also, being that you are coming from the Skip Barber, another open wheeler will be a much more natural progression for you.

Noob question here. What the hell does OTM and DTM mean. Sorry for the iRacing ignorance.

You mean NTM and OTM. It just stands for new tire model and old tire model. Last August iracing brought out a new tire model for a few cars and now just about all the cars are on the ntm. Basically on the otm you could drive the cars hard the whole race and they wouldn't fall off much. With the ntm the tires fall off more depending on how hard you drive.

You probably mean OTM and NTM (DTM is the German Touring Car series)?

OTM= Old Tyre Model
NTM= New Tyre Model

iRacing are in the process of changing the tyre physics on the cars. Some are still on the OTM, others are on the NTM, There isn't a definitive list unfortunately...

:)

Edit: Mad beat me to it!

Oh, I'm not sure why I thought that.

I'm now Rookie 3.49 road. now I need to get ovals going. I did an hour of practice @ Talladega for the carb cup, that was fun being my first time drafting

Then you better get out of rookie this weekend! The Grand Touring Cup is running at Okayama next week and you can use that to get to C license without having to buy any content!

Go for it, you won't hurt your stats at all! Just race, enjoy the race and forget about your stats! Right now some of the best racing is at B license and with the new GT class coming next season participation for the GT cars is gonna be pretty good!
Also there's the unknown of the Caddy so you'd want to have a higher license level for that although that might be a C license car.

How do you advance a level during the season? Ive heard people do it but cant find how they did it. Thanks.

Meet the required number of races for that particular license and get to 4.00 SR.

Thanks for the reply. Just does it automatically huh? Wish I knew that couple weeks ago when I was 3.89 and joined that solstice race lol.

Tried out DashMeterPRO last night, pretty awesome app. You can change all Colors and it even has some pretty decent telemetry built in and you can plot real-time telemetry vs a saved best lap. For $7 its quite good. Alot better than iRaceDash IMO. Anyone with Android should check it out.

What? In what do I need to get out of rookie? You lost me there

His saying, that because track is Okayama, which is FREE, you won't need to purchase anything to get to C Licence.

So if you get out of Rookie, get into D Class, you can run Grand Touring Cup without having to spend any money.

Its the internet so probably coming off the wrong way, I don't care about stats to that level, I always "just race" and I am very calm about it. Just saying, I don't see any point in losing -400 irating or something just for the sake of it. If you do something, do it well.

Exactly, and with the season ending in 3 weeks you will be promoted to C license with only a few races on the MX5 at Okayama on the Grand Touring series. You could even fast track it to C and get promoted to B license at the end of the season if you want!

^ exactly what I am doing but trying to figure out the best C Class to do it in...

Grand AM or Star Mazda
4 races or 4 time trails.
I am thinking 4 time trails...just do really slow laps right...

anyone know how many laps needed for time trails at Grand Am?

Was cool seeing you on that race MadRR! What happened there on the last lap?

Star Mazda gets more participation for sure and the racing is ussually pretty good!

Yeah that was a fun race. Congrats on your win :sly:. Man I just totally lost focus going into turn 2. I hit the brakes at the same spot but i was looking at the timing and i wasn't pressing the brake hard enough so i started drifting wide then i locked them up and slid off track. Luckily 5th place was 23 seconds back so I still kept 4th by 7 seconds at the end. I still can't believe i did that. I had 0 incidents up until then and my last 5 races in a row I had 0 incidents so I broke my streak on the last lap being an idiot :(. It only gave me 2 incidents when it showed 4 on the screen. I was right under 3.00 before the race so I went up to 3.55 at least.

I forgot to add. I don't know if any of you guys have any friends in the fanatec csw wheel test poll over in the sim racing hardware section, but I have signed up to try and be a tester. If you guys don't have anyone in mind I would appreciate your votes from my fellow iracers :).

Lol, that sucks! My race didn't go well at all! What was supposed to be a SR run turned into a 7 incident -.11 SR for me. The 2nd place Ford spun right in front of me coming out of the last turn and even though I managed to avoid him netcode still saw it as contact and gave me an x4 followed by the x1 for going off in avoidance and 2 other x1s of my own making. Phillip Island has been good for me, got 4 real wins this week and more importantly score more points than any of my competitors. As things stand right now I'm sitting in 2nd 20 points behind the leader. The championship is gonna be a race to the wire!

how many races do I have to do in the series? and how do I get to class d before rookie promotions?

4 races I believe, to get to D all you need is to get your SR up to 4.00 and it will automatically promote you.

theres a button next to your helmet at the top right hand screen and if you hover over it, it will tell you what you need before you can be promoted.

Seriously, Roush, please have a fiddle around with all the different options in iracing....your not doing yourself any favours :)

is there any word on how the CTS-V will be raced? I was doing some research into the car trying to find lap times to see how it stacked up to the Grand-Am GT cars. Found out the Mustang we have is very similar to one that was raced in '10 in the GTS class where the CTS is GT. So I'm thinking the CTS might be a good replacement for the 'Stange in our Grand-Am, but also having a CTS-FR500-MX5 series that would come close to the actual World Challenge series.

Any who the point to my post is this: anyone know what the lap times are for the WC cars? I can't find anything on past seasons to compare with the easy to find GA GT times.

+1

It's difficult to compare the two though, because they're so different. They're great in different ways.

great if you can elaborate given that we can't test a car before we buy?

Corv is GT1 right and Ford is GT2?
