Well I just tested the Star Mazda and put in about 10 laps

The car IS easier to drive vs Skippy. You can jam the throttle without spinning, you can "lock up wheels" without it going mental....BUt it is way way much more unforgivning if you mess up, if you mess up in the Skip its like a slow motion horror show as you sloooowwllly slide across the grass and into the wall. Star Mazda is like you slightly touch the grass, and .5 seconds later your in the wall after doing a 1080.

Overall though, love the car...not sure what to do next season now. But I really want to get out of open wheel racers :( come on iracing, bring out the MP4!

I think MP4 will be season 3 no doubt?

Quick question to star mazda drivers, can you run a few laps of Watkins Glen Classic Boot (the last season of the race) and tell me what a good time is? After a few laps I am down to 1.46 flat. Probably can shave 1 - 2 seconds off if I bother watching some replays of how to drive the dam car...I am just changing gears all over the place.

Thanks for hosting that session last night Madison! It's crazy how fast you are. My guess is you dont even drive the Star Mazda very often yet you're dropping 1.33s right off da bat. I think that's what the top drivers are putting down.

I'm hooking up my lap into iSpeed and I can see where I'm losing speed. Hopefully I can shave off some serious time in the next couple days.

@Swifty, I probably wont get a chance til much later. What you want to do is run the sim with the iSpeed telemetry HUD on. This will create a session for you and will allow ya to view what times people are putting down for this season when you run the iSpeed Lap Analyzer. Hopefully someone already uploaded lap data.

Yeah you probably don't want one of the wheels touching grass with the Star going at these speeds. You'll do a 180 quick. One thing you want to watch out for if you come to the Star is that some people have bad racecraft while others are excellent. Yesterday I spent 85% of my race fighting with my competition for 3rd place but then I made a mistake with 5 laps to go which allowed him to beat me by 5 secs. Was a great battle and we conversed a bit via private message. I was still glad to claim 4th cause I had to split my time this week running New Symra with the SK - Modified.

Haha no worries mate, sorry for driving like knobs with my mate but we got a bit bored. But yeah I do the odd race here and there but not that often really. Great car though.

Thanks swift, was a tough race with Rens in second but very happy to hold onto both races.

Yeah I had no idea you guys were running Chase cam lmao!

I meant to ask you could I follow you around the track but I had to go eat dinner for bout 10 mins or so with the wife which messed that up.

Maybe if Swifty decides to do Watkins Glen he'll train a little with me so I can absorb some of his uberness

I'd like to try to at least get on pole this week. Zandvoort is such a short track so after I learn all of these turns I expect to be able to really kill it in the races coming up this weekend.

Holla at me Madison tho if you want to mess around on Zandvoort again.

Thanks for the tips sandbox and mad.

I am just mucking around with SM. Need it for my B class and if I end up really liking it, I might stick with it. Planning to nail it at Watkins since I know the track. Does anyone know what a good time is on the track with the SM? Not sure when SM went to NTM etc so not sure if I can compare my times to it. I am currently running 1.46.000 on it after a few laps. The forums said 1.44 - 1.45 and without trying to sound "cocky" I highly doubt that I could be within the top tier after only a few laps and not knowing the car at all...although the Skip has helped me greatly, I really doubt it :( If Mad has a few 10 mins to spare I wouldn't mind knowing your times on the track?

Skipping Zandvoort this week, need a break from Suzuka...that last race killed me...I had to take a shower and another shower because I was still reeling from it haha...I cannot imagine how Mad takes it at his sort of level of racing...insane...

Post some details for us without computers that can log on. :)

What type of series is the Caddy running in? Is there an only GT series for the Vette and Ford GT?

Thanks!

Thanks for posting up the new schedule. It's up a lot earlier than normal. Usally the new schedule comes out in week 13 before the new season. It's out pretty early this season.

Some of you guys might have noticed my post earlier about running for div. 5 HPD championship. I lead since about week 4 but got knocked down to 2nd last week 30 points down because the 3rd place guy had a couple good races in a higher split. I've haven't been able to get in a good sof split in the last couple weeks. The good news is that the guy leading did a 3rd race right before the week was out and had a bad race in a low sof. That dropped him down some points so now I'm only 7 points from the lead! It's going to be close. I got to try and find some higher sof races. I'm going to try and get on in the afternoons so maybe I can find one.

YOU SNEEKY LITTLE DEVIL! SO JEALOUS, anyways, they said its up early due to very little changes in tracks. they will be doing another vote for season 3 of the year. but also good news the twin ring will be here as well!

Kind of disappointed in the lack of track variety for the Cadillac. Call it a practice season I guess.

its better than what i expected tbh, hopefully their will be a pro series, well not pro, but c class series as well at some point.

I wish I was driving it already lol. It's a screenshot from the iracing twitter account

-Caddy goes to rookie as Superbike was saying all along, I'm a bit dissapointed to be honest... Hopefully a decent iR will get you on a high split and away from the loonies! Like Eric said the schedule is kind of lame and looks like an effort to increase sales on those tracks...

-The GT/Proto fixed made some races even Shorter, are they mad?

-The GT series will run 45 minute races with open setup, good news some of the top guys have said they will be working with iRacing on building and sharing good setups! Also the Vette and Ford GT got demoted to C class, hope the racing quality doesn't suffer from this, in theory it should become better with more people beign elegible to race.

-The Indy Car Fixed series stays wich is a good thing, participation is always high there and the racing is ussually pretty good!

At first glance I think the Caddy schedule looks pretty good. I love Infineon but no one ever runs it. But I see it's here on the Caddy schedule multiple times! I might have to run Infineon there that week :dopey:

I used to absolutely love Infineon on GT4 but for some reason I just can't find that love on iRacing. It's so hard to find a rythm on that track!

Staff posted that the schedule they have now is only because Cadillac is preparing something special (I'm assuming schedule related) and doesn't have it ready yet.

There was only really two reasons that I was predicting rookie series:

1) The deal with Cadillac. Gotta be available to everyone, so rookie or fun series.
2) Wasn't likely going to be a fun series because I'm guessing Cadillac wants to be able to recognize division and overall champions. Fun series has no points, so no recognition.

It will be interesting though to see how the racing quality in the lower splits will be. I'll be sure to let you guys know since I'm mostly a lower-split guy since I like to drive a bunch of different cars and series (and my skill isn't amazing).

AHHH, I have a tough choice. Buy the rest of the tracks for the skippy season, or buy the tracks for the cadillac cts-v season.

WHAT DO I DO?? :grumpy:
