I just bought a 7950 to replace my 6850. That's probably going to be the minimum for 3 screens @ over 120 fps. I have mine locked at 127 without the new shaders on and still get dips just below 120 on some tracks. Of course Spa and the like still have their huge fps drops, but that's more a iracing thing. That card will probably run 90 or so fps no problem though and to be honest that's what my 6850 was doing and I don't see much improvement in the game at 90 or 120 fps. Other games is where the 7950 shows its worth like in Pcars. I couldn't run triples in Pcars with 6850, but the 7950 is getting me around 55, 60 fps.

Thank you for the feedback, think I'll pass on this one and hold off till a 79xx shows up on the deal of the day e-mail.

Hey Jav!

I have a similar card (Asus) and I never dip below 100FPS @ max settings. I'd probably jump on that if it was a couple of months ago, but the release of the 8000 series is imminent, so i'll hold off for a 79xx deal myself. Should be any day now.

:)

Remember FPS is largely dependent on your AA settings as well.

By maxing out AA I actually brought my 7970 and my 680 down to under 20fps with no other cars. It was absolutely beautiful though. :)

Thank you for the feedback guys! Will wait for the 79xx series to drop down in price!

I think I may have fallen in love in with Mclaren. I bought it today and it actually feels like it is connected to the road. I was hot lapping in a hosted session at Okayama and I got a 1:30.1 on my third lap. I also got the Skip Barber and Watkins Glen.

If you do that you get a slow down penalty so its already solved.

No we dont, if you mean we would get a slow down everytime we get a 1x we would all be spending a lot of time coasting. :) On most tracks you have to push the envelope to get to the top times, that means getting really close to a 1x in some corners. In real life they stay within pretty much the same limits as we do (in some cases 1x is harsh admittedly), not because they are afraid of their safety rating (lol) but because they would get dirty tires. If we magically removed dirt from IRL you would see all drivers expanding the radius of corners, thus keeping the speed higher = better laptime. Without 1x system in iracing there would be dustclouds in every corner.

A little late but that was a good race jason. I've raced Crum in quarter midgets and I know he's fast, something must have definitely been wrong in that truck for him, it was cool to see nonetheless, and nice win:tup:

What settings do you use to get that fps on pcars? I find that I have to turn almost everything off to get something half-way playable (7950 @~1000MHz)

Pablo and Atze are both on GT Academy 2013. This is a massive disappointment. That, because GT Academy 2013 was a massive disappointment.

I believe most everything Ive left at default except the middle row of options. I have most of them off. That's also using the standard version. If I use dx11 version its around 30 fps.

That is also with everything in ccc set to " use application settings".

Quite a few iRacers are doing it. Pablo had posted showing that the 10th fastest Spanish region time was still faster than the fastest guy from the US. Daniel Lopez I think is also taking part, as is Ricardo Castro Ledo (Pro Driver, GTP: r_a_c_l) and there are quite a few other DWC and Pro drivers on the time sheets. I heard a fact somewhere that everybody that has won GT Academy and most of the finalists drive on iRacing and go to Gran Turismo just for GT Academy.

why is it a massive dissapointment? Like i care about wher other people drive...:scared:
If they like it they have to go for it!

How do you serve a stop and go black flag penalty?

Say, Mazda Cup at Okayama.

It takes FOREVER in the pit stall. Way more than I think it should. Even with fuel and tires off it takes too long. Should be 15 seconds right?

My FPS has been weird lately at Daytona, not sure what issue is but it will run in mid 30's then drop to 20 and back up. Yes I know it's already really low but I didn't know much about computers when I bought my current one (I need to have one built but out of my budget now).

On another note, I finally decided to really get better at road side of things and actually enjoy the MX5 and track combo this week. I've raced two race which first one most of the guys crashed on some form by corner 2 while I just laid back because I was wanting a clean race. I ended up 3rd. 2nd race was cleaner and faster but had nice little battle with a guy as we both were getting better each lap but still not completely stable in our talent level. I'm not one who likes to hear tires sliding, so I tend to let the car roll alot more instead of being harder on gas or brakes through a turn.

I really want to get up to run some DP and V8s is all I'm really after for now but that can all change.

Anyone else's SR complete crap and is struggling to get it up before the end of this season?

I'm talking about how I found the GT Academy 2013 to be disappointing. In my personal opinion, the cars feel floatier than in GT5.

Anyways, back on to the topic at hand.

Polarbear345 just found me in this video:

I'm the orange/red Jetta at 0:20, somehow avoiding that blue Jetta... Whatever the driver was thinking... I have no idea.

Thanks man! :). Yeah I didnt know any of those other guys in that race other than the the 2 guys I got in there with and neither one of them made the start lol. I know I lucked into the win. I wasn't quite as fast as the leader and a couple other guys crashed so honestly top 3 was about my pace but I got lucky on that one. Like my buddy says, its sometimes better to be lucky than good.

Are other road cars like the MX5, where you can slide (squeal) the tires or hard on brakes aloe to get most out of it? It's taking some getting used to but I'm slowly getting faster and able to run laps in the 1:52-1:54 range during 10 laps at current track (Japanese track) full late out which I know isn't mind blowing.

I'm just trying to learn corners and apexes with braking points.

Hmmm, not really. The SRF for example. You barely hear the tyres squeal. The advice I can give you is not to get on the gas too early, try to get a slightly faster corner entry and coast it (it allows the rear to turn) and use a little bit of throttle to control it, seems too work well to me!

I tend to do that than just gas it, but braking I tend to sometimes to early because I hate hearing all that squealing but I can tell I lose time on few corners because of it like turn 1 and turn after long straight before switchbacks as I call them.

Too bad the track already changed or I would do a couple of laps with you :).
Lime Rock is one of my favorite tracks too, so if you want to join me in a practice session send your iRacing name in a PM ;)

Sweet I just got wrecked by a driver who overdrove the corner. I was doing a Trucks at Iowa, a race that started off bad with me missing the grid because of the over sensitive DFGT wheel. I got saved by a caution on the first lap. I came back from 16th to 2nd and on the last lap in turn 2 I get wrecked. Guy overdrove and I held my line, I get hit and lose iRating and the other guy gains SR and iR since he beat me (#1 iRating in the race). The guy left without apologizing too.

Really wondering should I bother trying an oval race since I've lost .4 SR last week and am .08 away from not getting promoted.. :(
