I'm having the worst luck I've had in awhile now... My oval SR is tanking big time, and my Road IR has been getting bent over for the past few days.

Anyone know how to improve connection stability? I've DCed from my past few races... At the grid... Before I'm fine and after I'm fine, but the when it's time to grid I have disconnected the past few races in a row!

Any ideas?

That was quite the appropriate quote, and kinda funny since you posted it before.

If I recall don't you get it for free now since you pre-ordered it and you got credits/money back that people will use anyway.

That is correct Wilbur, kind of makes me think that fatcracker did not even purchase it. In my view it is a sweet deal, got the credits and will get a free car. I am actually glad when some of the fat is trimmed from iRacings complaining few.

I'm pretty tired of that iRacing charasteristic, it's stupid how long they take to get content out. From the time a car is announced to the point where it comes out it has already been retired from racing, pretty pathetic really.
Can't wait for Asseto Corsa to finally come out!

Well their business model doesn't suit everyone all the time and I sort of agree with you on their announcements but ... do you have any idea how long it takes to model assets? I am not even talking about obtaining the licenses and promotional work. As a modeler I can tell you it is a long arduous task.

I think iRacing makes these announcements to peak interest in what is up and coming. To many people are way to inpatient, believing it only takes a month to get content out, it just ain't going to happen.

How long has it been since Asseto Corsa announced it's new game? How long do you think it will be before a full release? As you see, these things take a while, a long while. :)

Well to be far even when they are coming out with new content, they are still having to update cars we already have during same time periods too. I'm sure they always have alot to get in, so doesn't surprise me that they take awhile to get new content out.

Sure I'd love to have it within month but not always that way so I'm happy with what we actually do have and don't really pay attention to what we are getting outside of the idea of it. The cars I want to see, I'm not expecting anytime soon anyway.

This is what I mean based on oval side. There was a huge push for super late models, why? Sure late models aren't the greatest but how popular will a series be anyway as the National car isn't all that great. We need to work on updating what we have or combining series sometimes. I'm sure road side is even worse.

Dump the wireless connection - this is the number 1 cause of connection problems.

No.2 is housemates downloading torrents.

No.3 is probably a dying ADSL box - how old is yours ?

After that, what's running in the background in windows ? There's an app which kills unneeded things for when you're gaming, but I can't remember what it's called...

Has your PC been ok before ? Maybe its a bit underspec, and you'd be better off turning down some of the GFX settings.

That's all I've got.

I'm wired, no ones downloading (or Netflix / YouTube), no idea what a ADSL box is, but ill check it out.

PC is fine. I think it may have actually been the storms... PC is in the basement so those can go unnoticed when I'm down there!

2013 Season 3 Schedule

Has me depressed with no GT Challenge! I just got into that!!!

And the oval cars on road courses will be fun... But their choices for ovals are a bit questionable in my opinion...

I'm happy overall though! Montreal has me happy xD

Why are they dropping the GT challenge? That is the only series in iracing I actually try and compete in the championship.

Because they said it robs the GT classes in proto and GT and grand am...

So, they got rid of it... I was under the impression they were only getting rid of the mclaren from the group... But I was wrong :(

Well that doesn't make any sense, but then Iracing seldom does with such things. They are killing a popular series in hopes of boosting a couple of series that struggle for participation. 👎

If a series struggles with participation there is obviously a reason for that, killing off another series in hopes of making the struggling series more popular makes no sense whatsoever and forcing someone to race in a series they normally wouldn't isn't really fair either, at least from my point of view..

I believe it was more of a catch 22.

3 series, 5 cars.

Getting rid of either Proto or Grand Am meant 2 series, 4 cars.
Where as this means 2 series 5 cars.

I presume they don't want to drop any cars and this was the only series in the 3 that had all cars running in other series.

To be fair, the tracks this season in pretty much every series are good. I still don't like that they dropped it, I didn't race it to much (I believe some of the "fixed" series like Proto/GT are gone as well) but nobody should dictate what other people race, especially by force.

What! They dropped Suzuka in the Grand Prix Series and replaced it with Brands Hatch... You should see the amount of iGPS, Pro and DWC guys that drive in the Grand Prix Series complaining and sending emails to iRacing.

Edit: Supposedly they have changed it back to Suzuka now due to the complaints.

I see they've shortened the Grand-Am races by 5 minutes. They shorten races every season, why? To attract more people? It's meant to be the most 'hardcore' sim but they keep doing things like this. I don't mind if they want to make iit accessible to more people, but why not add things to make it easier, not take away things that make it harder.

I think they did it so the GT challenge people aren't left kicking and screaming (which they obviously are)

It makes the races the same length as the GT challenge races, which they got rid of, so those drivers have an easier time adjusting.

They also did it in the proto/GT series.

Ok I see. They couldn't adjust to an extra 5 minutes?
It's not that I'm really worried about missing out on 2 laps, it's just that it's the trend they're going with. I've been on iRacing less than a year and I've only really raced the Mustang, V8 and Grand-Am and they have all had their races shortened in that time.

Yea, the majority have been shortened for sure.

Seems there may be a push for longer races though... Maybe they'll add a 80 minute plus series?

Yea, probably not, but it would be cool!

A proper endurance series, once they have the driver swaps sorted out would be awesome.
Might have to buy Indy tonight and race the DP!

I would like to at least 2 races be longer endurance style races. Maybe 80 to 120 minute races with a pitstop. Only do this at the most popular tracks like Watkins Glen and maybe a Daytona road. Just to mix it up a little. The V8 series this season had something like that with some sprints and longer enduro style races.

Yeah, the V8 series has been great. We have specified sprint races (35 minutes approximately). Then sprint races that require a pit stop to take on about 15L (40-45 minutes approximately). We also have 1 hour races that require a huge amount of fuel and tyres. Pretty cool, changes it up a bit which is great!

I had a promo code in my inbox for a 1 year subscription to iracing for $50, only to find out that it was gone, guess I deleted it when I was clearing out spam...
