Anything D class or below gets a fast repair, that's why you didn't get the repair time, what this means is that your car is automatically fixed, so you want to make sure your tires and fuel is unchecked so you won't get stuck on the pits changing tires and getting fuel.

Is that a new thing or has it been like this since the beginning? I could swear I've gotten repair times in the Mazda cup.

You get repair times when you crash it the second time. First time is free, second and more times you have to wait for repairs.

I made a video. It's not perfect because it was my first time really editing, and I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 11.

The videos aren't synced perfectly together, so it appears there is a bit of lag, but there isn't. There is no discernible input lag or head tracking lag either.

Best gaming experience of my life, it's amazing.

(Yes I'm slow, yes I know it, no it's not because of the Rift) :)

Right now it's a "Developer Kit" not really meant for average gamers, more for people who make games (or for crazy tech geeks like me), but it's $300. Not bad at all and that actually makes it almost the cheapest part of my racing rig.

The consumer/retail version will come out with higher resolution and potentially an even lower price sometime next year.

It's low resolution right now which makes you see individual pixels and the "screen door effect" but I think it's ok for racing right now. Triple screens gives you great FOV and everything, but the Rift gives you good FOV and AMAZING immersion.

Yes, but is it a recent change or has it always been like that?

so basically, for the money, it blows triple screens out of the water?

Currently for pure immersion, yeah completely blows triple screens away. But in it's current state the graphics quality is too low for most people due to the low resolution of the screen. So when the consumer version comes out next year, unless you have some physical reason for not being able to use it, you should absolutely get one. :)

I don't know where I'll be at with sim racing in a year but it seems definitely cool, and it's less than the price of one 32" TV but then again it is still $300. Money is slightly tight atm but I've been saving for a DSD shifter only to realize that I have no way to mount it without being on the left side of the wheel since the G27 H-pattern is in the way. oh well. It's a classic game of "I want this but I need that in order to have this and it costs a lot and it would be best if I had a third item for that instead of using a TV because there's limited space. So in reality I can't afford it all." I've been looking at a grandstand for way too long now and nobody knows if I'll ever buy it:lol:

Trust me I'm in the boat! I just want a better computer and wheel set.

On a weird note, raced with Scott McLaughlin from the V8SC series in fixed Iowa race. Nice guy but he pretty much is not as fast as I expected and also drove kinda crappy with one guy (we all had issues with him but he was hounding him under caution like tapping and messing with him).

Yeah, it seems like these pro drivers can't translate their skill to the sim. I beat out Scott speed in the LM at Dover and did a hosted session with David Gilliand at talledega. That was fun bump drafting with a pro. So smooth.

That is because it is harder to turn laps in most racing sims than it is to drive the real car. For years sim racers believed the harder the car was to drive the more sim it was. Now that a lot of pro drivers are coming to sim racing where finally starting to see the cars become drivable again.

Great video. My excitement for the rift has been reignited by all the positive iRacing reviews.

Just thought I would leave this here, me having a very tentative go in the lotus 49. love this car

I'm planning on doing the 6:45 (22:45 GMT) Grand-Am race in the McLaren in case anyone else is planning on it and see first hand how much I suck :)

How much fuel will I need?

Idk about McLaren, but it's 16 gallons in the DP. If I wasn't at work, I'd race that too

Well the guy he was giving a hard time really had no clue and everyone had issues with him. He was warping all race long and never understood what we told him (said his connection is fine on his end). Finally I told him it doesn't mean it's fine on our end though.

I started from the pits, which apparently filled my fuel tank up, spun 3 times and dodn't pass a single car on the track.

And I finished 3rd somehow.

I've had issues recently where starting from pits has given me a dramatically different setup which is mostly undriveable. I reported the issue to iRacing and they said it's a known issue and they're working on a fix. It sounds like you might be experiencing the same thing.

Grats on the nice finish though.

Alright, thanks for the info.

EDIT: So I was in the same race as mr. plate88, and of course I didn't do nearly as well as I did last time :(. I actually started on the grid this time, and my car was way too loose. It was manageable for the first few laps, but once the tires started wearing, no way.
