Hey guys, new to this part of the forum. Been on iRacing for about 3 months now and been playing it on an "on and off" basis but recently i've been having fun playing it.

I'm currently on a D class license with a 4.50 SR for road racing which i think i'll be focusing more on but I'm struggling to escape the D class due to the fact that i still haven't purchased any extra cars and tracks and most of the series at the moment are at tracks i don't own (Well apart from the rookie Mazda Cup).

Just wondering on what's the "cheapest" way to progress up the classes. Ultimately i want to race the GT3/GT1 cars.

Cheapest way really is to commit to a series. Buy the content for the season and don't race anything else.

You actually already own 4 cars which race at D-Class, the MX5 and Solstice in the GTC, the Cadillac in the Global Challenge, and the Spec Racer Ford, in the SRF Challenge.

As you've been playing 3 months, I'd suggest trying the SRF challenge, the car will teach you lots of good habits, which will help you later on, and the races are remarkably clean, almost like a gentlemen's club. In the SRF forums there's always a weekly thread with guide videos and set-ups shared. Last seasons champion shared his setup each week.

Also the SRF schedule has 5 free circuits, meaning you can complete your "series participation credit" of 8 weeks, after buying only three tracks. As other said, buy in lots of 3 for 10% off, or 6 for 20% off. I'd recommend at least a full season in the SRF, it's a great teaching car.

GT3 this week is looking to be good. Tried a few of setups for the Z4 on the forums but they all felt way too loose so i started making my own setup for once and so far ive gotten my time down to a 1.26.8xx so far. Car still understeers a fair bit going into T1 and the last corner and you have to be pretty careful getting the power down out of T2 or the rear wants to come around. Hopefully i can get my qually time into the 26.4s or 5s. Even with the baseline setup here the car feels really well planted.

I'm struggling too find a sweet spot on it this week so far.

I'm not sure about running GT3 this week, my car either pushes everywhere or just has no rear and grip and traction and is undrivable (for me).

My second ever week in the HPD is going to be tough. Road Atlanta really gives you barely any time to take a breather and a few inches wide on some corners can cost you dearly.

I've been so occupied with Nis at charlotte and the dw12 that I completely forgot about proto/gt! Maybe I'll run on Sunday.

I'd like that, the DP is good fun but can't compete with the HPD. We need the HPD adjusted to current specs with the twin turbo V6 and higher weight and the Corvette DP.

It would be nice knowing me if that series came out

I think me and Jonsey80 are doing the Thursday night Coke 600 for sure. Maybe the Saturday afternoon Indy 500 but I'm still kinda sketchy with the DW12.

If anyone wants to come hang and practice, feel free to add me on iracing (William fisher3). Our oval irating is around 1900 so that's the split well be in.

It splits by qual times. Pole right now is a 39.4xx 4 lap avg

Iracing needs to focus more on getting a Tudor like series together.
It's on the works, Vette DP is already contracted, now working on the other 3 cars to be used. P2 HPD and 2 GT-LM cars, there's not many details on progress thank's to the iRacing forums drama queens who pretty much ticked Tonny Gardner off and make the staff decide not to share with us current projects till they are close to release.

I'd atleast like to know what they plan on doing for the gt cars. re-specing the ford and vette or making a GTD spec for the bmw to run with the ruf.

They already have a Ruf that fits right where GTD is. They'd need another car or two to go with it. A different Vette and a BMW for GTLM would be awesome. Double awesome if the Viper gets in. PC car shouldn't be high on the list. I doubt many people will run it. The Corvette DP and an updated HPD will fit the prototype bill very nicely

I highly doubt they would even bother to get the PC car. If they did though they could do a one make series that the FIA did in europe for a year or 2 which was called Formula Le Mans.

I'd be more than happy to have an A class Tudor that's P and GTLM with a PC/GTD version that's C license if that's what it takes

To be fair, after the Lotus 49 cluster:censored: that's probably a good idea on iRacing's part.

Qualifying is beyond frustrating. 3 attempts, 3 times I've hit the wall turn 1 lap 1.

Why am I even bothering?

Same here! It get really frustrating because I can run 39.5's in practice but I can't even get up to speed in a qual session
