That is where the tire model is EXTREMELY screwed up especially on the MX5. You should not be able to run your fastest lap of the race on lap 2. They need to redo the tire warming model so we could properly warm up the tires. GPL had it right even back in 98, not sure what is wrong with getting it implemented now.

I liked the OTM on the Riley much better then the NTM. The Vette feels much better with the NTM. The Radical was better with the OTM, both it and the Riley I could race sideways and still keep it controlled, not anymore. I haven't had time to try the F1 or the Ford GT tonight. The winner for me is the Vette, handles better and sounds better.

****

Tried the Ford GT and it is awesome, handles much better and the sound is very good. Much better bass with good rumble, both of my buttkickers and 2 aura bass shakers are rocking now. I also am getting on with the Riley much better with about 50 laps put in at Road America, the Riley is still my favorite.

Ok, so I have the requirements to be promoted from Rookie. When will this happen?

I assume when the Rookie series finishes? What if I hit 4.0 safety rating, will I get promoted any earlier or no matter what I do, I have to wait until end of the season?

Pretty proud of myself, first race at LRP avg'ed low 1.03 and I had 0 incidents :) Top 2 drivers avg'ed 0.59.xxx..argh...

Promotions from rookie to D class was today with a minimum requirement of 3.00, got mine today. :)

2 car draft = insane/awesome. nuff said.

With that said, oh yea, they FINALLY got it right. And it is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! It actually works how it is supposed to, and it really separates the boys from the men when it comes to race time and keeping up front and trying to win. Oh, and they got the temps of the car right. You can only stay behind someone for 3-5 laps, based on how much air in the straights you get, before you HAVE to switch, or you do harm to your engine. Or possibly blowup. Switching is a MUST.

2 words of advice. BE SMOOTH.

As for the prototype, I JUST got it last night. To me, great fun. But, I did not drive it pre this build. As for Nascar cars, simply astonishing in its reality now. IMO of course.

See you on the track around 6pm EST. Damn working to pay my bills, I just want to iRace!!!!!! Work is overrated anyways. I'm carb cupping it for a little to get this 2 car style down. I was working with a BUNCH of WC drivers last night there. I was doing much better than them. It's all about staying smooth and keeping your head on your shoulders.

Had an epic Mazda 20 lap race around Lime Rock!. Started in the pits...(beware the pits) the driver in front of me decided to grind to a halt right in front of me causing me to crash into the back of him in the pit lane..... Fortunately I did not have to pit for repairs....So left pits and came out in 10th. People had incidents ended up 7th. Had great battle with the guy in 8th. Then we had a scare with a lap car and the leader at the same time.....Basically me(7th place) +8thplace+leader+lapped car were four wide coming into the last turn..................
Lapped car backed out. Then i backed out. 8th got around me, but i passed hime back in T1 next lap. Drove the last 5 laps and gained 2 more spots from people crashing out!

The anoying thing is i hardly put a wheel off on the exit of the last turn all race and it kept telling me that i was off track (x1). If i had gone off there i would have wiped out...
In addition silly me went off track after the race was over....
ended up losing .12 SR but gaining .44 iRating.... I dont yet understand!

nice recap of the race!

SR = Safety Rating
You lost SR because you put your wheel off the track during the race, hit another car, and dropped a wheel after the race (iirc SR counts after the race until all of the cars have crossed the finish line).

iR = iRating. iRAting is a measure of your racing performance. i believe it was posted that to think of iR simply as if you finish the race in top half you will usually gain/maintain your iR and if you finish the race in bottom half you lose iR.

I am sure you can found more detailed info on iR and SR in the players book.

good luck!
👍

Just read the forums for the Riley DP. Looks like I just need to tweak my brake bias some more to fix my problem (raise it up). So I'll try it later when I get a chance

For all the cars that now have the NTM, existing setups may need some work. There are good baseline setups for all the cars; you may want to start by loading those. Typically, the NTM cars require more front brake bias to avoid spinning under braking. They also often require pressure and camber adjustments from the old tire model setups, as well as ride height adjustment.

I was in a lot of practice rooms last night for the Riley and that's what all the ppl in the lobbies were saying. Most ppl were increasing the brake basis by +3.0 - +5.0 and raising the front end of the car, softing the ARB's (front and rear) and in some cases ppl were adding more wing to keep the rear planted a little more.

I've noticed the biggest difference in straight away speeds, those have gone down but cornering speeds have increased. I saw ppl at Watkins Glen Cup running 1:03's to :04's were the fastest. At daytona I saw a 1:38.9. I really enjoy the NTM, I just need to get used to it a little more.

Man, just bought the Riley DP with some tracks and I'm in love, so much fun to drive. I'm not that fast though only mid 44s at Daytona. Im sure a proper setup will help. i just lengthened the gears and raised the rear spring rate to keep the rear planned on the medium downforce base setup. Now need to get to C license asap!

You need to try that car arround Watkins, then you'll know what true love is! Lol!!
Just do 4 TTs on Daytona with the MX5 to meet your MPR and rack up the SR!

The NTM was kind of primitive then. You had the steering wheel violently bouncing around when stopped, tires scrubbing at low speed...

I believe all that has disappeared now with the (N)NTM.

Blaze, its a 1987 MR2. My money pit.

I find it funny in all the tax reports of people crashing etc. the race I had last night had 0
People crashing in first turn , no incidents, 100% clean race. Strength of field was high for me so I didn't place well but irating takes that into account anyway.

So I guess I need to hit 4.0 SR to get promoted straight away. Think I can do it. 20 laps of LRP with 0 incidents have me
+.2 SR. Do 2 of that an some TT should see me get fast tracked.

Unfortunately I thought I would get promoted straight away after 3.0 rating but I guess not.

Just ran my first race in GTC, at Daytona in an MX5. Only managing about 60-70fps on the first couple laps with all the traffic. This might be a stupid question, but I should have a CPU bottleneck if my GPUs don't ever go above 35% usage and my framerate is dropping, right?

Drafting adds some awesome tactics even in Miatas...Real fun when you can catch a tow behind a Jetta.

anyone have a good setup for the MX5?

i think theres a website called racing setups or something, sister site to tradingpaints and you can download a whole lot of setups for each track there. 👍

anyone know how tt's are calculated if you run multiple tt's. Is it the fastest one or the latest one?

Swift, it sounds like you need to read the Sporting Code and other documentation. Its all covered.

Tiss, if you're running the Mazda Cup you have to use the baseline setup.

Cheers, I did but I don't remember it being in there. I'll give it a another whirl :)

It's not in the Sporting Code.

It's not here either:

@Blaze, you should read the above guide as it seems your having a bit of trouble understanding how the whole SR works.

http://www.answers-script.com/iracing/article/how-ttrating-works-86.html
This explains ttrating but it's not what I am after.

No big deal, after first week I will find out which tt session was counted towards my series points...I think it would be the fastest one and not the average/latest time trail.

1st race of the season=dissaster at turn 1! So much for the top split beign the cleanest racing! Thank you 1st corner heroes, you rock!

Did a couple of races with the Skippy today and after that I had some practice with the HPD for the fixed series. I'll try some races with it tomorrow, fun car to drive.

Drove around mid Ohio, and Sebring with the DP and was fun but need to learn the tracks, lol. Mid Ohio is tricky to drive, lots of blind corners and falling away corners, hard to get a rhythm.

Need to get that extra .5 SR so i can race the grand am series.

That was better, so 2nd race of the season but in the Vette now. Much much better! Got 2nd place and a fairly incident free run, managed to get .83 iR and .12 SR back from the previous dissaster.
Tiss looking forward to you and Blaze to get up to the Proto/GT classes!
