I almost forgot! Hampus, I think someone stole your Riley!!! Some guy was using your sking on my split on the 2.4...

Just had a good race at Suzuka. I decided to get straight down to business and give it my best shot. I turned off voice chat (I usually always leave it on), defended my position, and had some good battles all the way into 4th place. 👍

These constant HTTP 400 and Invalid URL errors are killing me. Seems like about 20% of the time I want to get into a race I get that error message and then I can't get into the member site for about an hour after. Tried searching and couldn't find any solutions.

That really sucks man. I've never had that happen too me though. Bad internet connection?

Tonight I'll be racing the South American Regional Finals of the Intel GT Series, I even got my name mentioned on inRacingNews! :D

http://www.iracing.com/inracingnews/iracing-news/intel-gt-series-battles-the-world-round/

I don't think I'll be able to get to the world finals as I'm not too fast at this track with the HPD but I'll try to have fun anyway.

Nice! But man you in the same region as Huge Luis I see :scared:

But I believe in you! Would like to see one of your replays.

Per session!?

That would be my guess

...
Still very fun though!. I cannot wait for the Sebring event!!
...

Do you mean this:

March 18
iRacing.com 120 Minutes of Sebring
Sebring International Raceway (full)
HPD ARX01c, Corvette C6.R, Ford GT

How does this work? What is the field size?

Yeah, the race didn't go too well for me. I got hit by some other driver behind me still on lap one and he managed to ruin both our cars.

I didn't even see how it ended but Hugo probably won the race.

Nah, it was imprudent on his part but it was a race incident. Plus, there was an iRacing staff member watching the race so if there's any action to be taken I'll leave it to him.

This was the first Skippy race I've done in many months. Had a blast but disappointed in myself for losing control 2-3 times. Could've done quite a bit better placement wise.

Now one thing that pleases me greatly it appears Class D truly does enjoy 1 full repair. If I would've smacked the barrier in the HPD like I did the Skippy I'm sure I would've lost like -100 iR fast.

This car is brutal on SR tho. Still not sure why the Skippy spins for no clear reason at times. I need to go back and review my replay. Maybe I accidently locked my tires while turning....

Darn that's rough man. :(

I plan to attend that event. Max field size might be 36 or so just like the normal Prototype & Gt series. They will just have tons of splits based on iRating. I'm looking forward to a lengthy race with others around my same irating

Skip Barber goes to Brands Hatch this week. What a track...feel like skipping but I shouldn't as I missed the first week since I just started and I hate Laguna and will not race there.

Also to the guys out there new to the Skip, keep going...3rd week in and I am a lot more comfortable with it now and I can drive any setup with different SPO or ARB's etc. Also very close to WR times now about 2-3 seconds away. Keep at it lads!!!

For the 2.4 they went by quali times for those who actually did quali and it worked pretty well in my opinion. But for Petit Lemans last year they went by iRating wich also kind of worked but not as close in my split, I managed to put 4-5 laps between 2nd place and me by the 1hr mark in that race...

Yeah for real. $3 just to host a race is pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

Didn't this already get answered? It is 1 dollar for 2 hours. 2 dollars for 4. Really not that big of a deal IMO. If you can't spare 5 dollars every now and again. Why are you playing a game that is considered to be expensive by most.

Ok, firstly, this is not meant to play down the pros out there who race HPD or anything like that, I am sure the pro HPD drivers are top top drivers but just wanted to say after buying the HPD given the current sale...
...
..
are you JOKING? This car is like so easy to drive (remember, I don;t mean getting WR times, just in terms of drivability). I mean compared to the skip, oh my god....I mean put a newbie in a skip and I assure you they will spin out more than once on a track, probably like 5 - 6 times ain't even exaggerating it but this HPD, I give it just a few laps without understanding the car, I know my lap times weren't alien but I was literally trying to spin the car out and its like glued to the track. I was hitting my face against the wall when I was doing some laps at Brand Hatch in the Skip, gave up, had about 10 mins before I couldn't play and tried the HPD, no spin outs, and as Clarkson would say "SPEEED." Man its easy, should be a C class car, you wouldn't want it D class because some newbies might go nuts with that speed but yea...this has to be the easiest car in the game, perhaps not to get WR, but easiest car to drive by far. Even the MX5 is more difficult.

HOWEVER, in saying that, its pretty dam fun. I want a good 1 year with the Skip or even 2 years, but HPD will be next on my list. Only reason I like it because SPEEED.

Tried some others, Riley, meh its ok if you like that sort of thing. Quite a heavy car, really need to brake early. Star Mazda is ok but I personally wouldn't race it, I just feel the Star Mazda is in the middle - its not as difficult, fun or as good of a series compared to Skip and its not as difficult, series not as pro or as fun as the F1, its just stuck in the middle.

Going to post some reviews in the car thread.

Currently away for a short break, only 5 days, but that's 5 days without iRacing!

Will be back just in time for the Daytona 500 being held on the Saturday. Any other members here attempting it?

In fact, what is the general split on here? Do many favour road course's or is it a rough 50/50 split?

At the moment I'm running the K&N series (oval) as I don't have enough time to practice for the Radical series. Ovals just seem so much easier to pick up and be competitive than road courses. Yet I find in ovals you race in bigger packs, and a lot closer.

Each discipline has its ups and downs, I just find it easier to run the ovals as I can't put enough time into the road tracks to learn them enough.

Going by iRating would be better. Then if you sandbag quali you'll most likely start near the back if you have high iRating. Easier to sandbag when quali times determine your split. Think I'd rather have it by iRating anyway. There was a few in my split(split 3) that had speed, but no racing etiquette. Basically too fast for their own good. After looking at results page after race, those people had fairly low iRatings compared to everyone else.

If I don't work this Saturday I'll be entering.

I did just road course till about 3 months ago. The NTM has pulled me into the oval racing now. But I go back and forth between road and oval. I pretty much like it all except for the open wheel cars. I'm more of a "tin top" guy anyway.

@swiftwilly, see I told ya the HPD is a very easy car to drive! But wait til you race the car. Just the slightest bump and you are out of the race. Combine that with multiclass + Class B (no full repair) and you'll looking at a possible disaster waiting to happen fast.

Add to that many people think they can handle this car but it is just too much car for them. Every race I got put out of this season was due to poor HPD drivers. Easy to drive but hard to master

[edit] Yeah I am going to try to move over into the Skippy. Will be practicing at Brands Hatch later today too. Maybe even race it later tonight

I think I've talked my dad into joining iRacing. He just needs to buy a wheel. I'm quite excited about it. Mind you, he has no sim racing experience, but he's interested in learning. So I get the job of trying to show him the ropes and somewhat mentoring him. I'll do my best at keeping him out of trouble, but he's a crazy man. I take no responsibility for his actions. Seriously though, I think its going to be neat being online with him and helping him out.:)

Man what a weekend. I've had one good race out of 6....

Skippy is a fun car to drive and all but man my poor iR is taking a beating. I guess I need to buy iSpeed or something so I can try to find some time. I'm tired being off pace

You need to trust that HPD! It started life as a car to be driven tight and straight at all times, but now you really need to trust it and throw it into a corner to get the speed out of it. Sure there's a fine line in those slidesthat determine how much speed your gonna get out of it, but you have to start somewhere.
Perhaps, guys like Kamuifanboy, Mad and Danilic can share some of their secrets on getting the most out of that car!
