Most people dont qualify. Its that easy. I rarely do. Race starts at :45, quali at :15.
I rarely have time to qualify with the life I have here. Therefor I rarely win, but I have some very intense racing, every 2 races.

Varrd, if you qualify the time is valid for the whole week, you don't need to qualify for every single race. So if you just miss one day of racing in your busy schedule, your able to qualify and use that time.

WELL I CAME FIRST.

Thanks to superbike and Imari for their advise.
1. I drove to my limits without trying to break my PB every lap (hence no accidents)
2. I let 2nd place who was faster than me pass on lap 1. After that I stayed 1 - 2 seconds close. I liked putting the pressure on him and...on 2nd last lap he failed on the last turn on LRP and spun out. Last lap I was like ZOMG, and I checked F3 and realised I was a good 6 - 7 seconds ahead of 2nd place so I slowed right down (coming from experience where I stuffed up on last laps).

HOWEVER, this kind of makes up for last night when I was in 3rd place, 2nd spun out and instead of staying stationary he decides to get back on the track with me right behind him, I turned to miss, missed my brake zone and went off track, slammed into the wall and came last.

Congratulations on your first win, it's a good feeling huh? Kudos for checking the relative box and understanding that you can slow your pace. I've seen guys with a big lead like that crash in the last lap because they are still trying to run PB's.

You just have to remember, that iRacing is trying to be a racing simulation, but we will never have the full experience because it's impossible to convey the preservation of life response that most people get and unless they start charging us real money for repairs, most people aren't going to be concerned with crashing. So you have to treat this separately from how it should be in real life and adapt to how it is in iRacing. iRacing is iRacing. iRacing is not racing. If that makes any sense.

Whenever I see someone off track or my spotter gives me the notice, I always slow down and get tunnel vision on that car. "Plan for the worst, hope for the best." By going a little slower (even 10mph less) you have much more control for quick maneuvers to avoid those guys. It happens all the time, sometimes out of pure negligence/indifference, other times the person honestly didn't see you coming for whatever reason. I personally think the F3 Relative box should be mandatory at all times, but I guess that would just use up more screen space, and people still might not watch it.

So adapt your methods to iRacing and you will have more fun and be more successful.

Cheers superbike and redreevos. I am still getting 50/50 races, some good some bad. I am still pushing into C class as I think a lot of this has to do with low class + difficult car.

I want to try:
premier Skip
Star Mazda
HPD

After that I will have a better idea about if its an isolated Skip case.

Just had my first race in a week while in the Mazda at Lime Rock. Had so so qualy with a 59.9 and ended up starting 7th.... It was frustrating but I acknowledged it was neccesary to just sit behind people and not to force the issue especially when the 2 guys in front of you are having there own little battle. Even if i got past one guy there would be no room to fit back with the other guy ahead of him. So I just waited and waited seeing Lime rock isnt such a good place to pass even in turn 1 when the guys in front are running 2 wide. ending up finishing 4th. Got a decent haul of SR and iRating. On to the next one. I really want to do same Riley racing but im only D class right now.

im terrible in the HPD.....easy to keep on the road, just hard to go fast for me lol.

My 2nd Legends race went a little better than the first, even though I finished 6th (5th the first race). There wasn't a major incident until lap 10 or so, which was very nice. The race winner had an iR of something like 5000 and the 2nd place guy was 3000+ as well, so they lapped me a couple times, but I am still pretty slow, running about 0.8 seconds off of the top qualifiers at South Boston (0.8 seconds is a lot when we are talking about 17 second laps). But I just kept my own pace, dodged a few crashes, and ended up finishing with zero incidents and a 6th place finish with a SOF of around 3000. I can't see my iR yet of course, but I think it is probably doing fairly well right now.

I really am enjoying oval racing, my right arm started to hurt during the race, I might have to turn the FFB level down a little for longer races. I think I can balance enjoying both oval and road racing, so I went ahead and became a 100% content owner last night.

Just a side note, I have never been a fan of oval racing, thought it was stupid, didn't understand how it could possibly be fun, but I tried it and fully admit that I was wrong. I suggest all of you at least give a couple Legends races a try, as just like the MX5, you get the car and a few tracks free with your membership. It's more fun than I ever expected it could be.

Yeah, try practicing a few laps just to get a feel for how they handle, it's WAY different than the road side. Brakes are super sensitive and will lock up without much pressure at all, although you rarely use the brakes. Learn how to enter pit road, because it's easy to come in too hot and then you get on the brakes and spin. Practicing on your own is kinda boring, so do it until you get comfortable with the car, then join some open practice sessions to get used to other people on the track, then jump into a race. Just be EXTRA cautious, as there are just as many (if not more) incidents in Legends rookie races as their are MX5 rookie races.

Well you dont need them to play the game. Credits are in effect the same thing as cash...Its like buying a prepaid phone card. You buy it and now you can only spend it in iRacing. Its more useful for if you want to send someone else(gift) iRacing credits. I have never bought iRacing credits and then bought the content. I just pay with my card. Dont have and dont need credits so I wouldnt worry about that.

You don't have to buy credits unless you need them. Credits can be earned (up to $40 annually) just by racing. Then the credits can be used for things like purchasing content and hosting your own race sessions (useful for leagues).

One of the leagues I was in last year offered iRacing credits as prizes at the end of the year.

Depends what your looking at..for me:

console:forza/GT5
PC visuals: project c.a.r.s (at this stage)
online competition: iracing.

iracing will never beat c.a.r.s in visuals and its impossible for c.a.r.s to beat iracing in online competition because c.a.r.s is not built on subscription model therefore will not have enough funds to continue non stop monitoring races and offering support etc.

I just wish iRacing would go to a DX11 graphics engine. I know it takes a substantial amount of effort to upgrade everything, but it would be awesome if they could.

Show us your setup Left, it sounds sick! I want 3 screens in the worst way, but I'm very limited on space, my rig is basically wedged between my wife's desk and a wall. I guess I need to buy a new house so I can upgrade to three screens. Makes perfect sense to me.

Even if you have to go smaller and rig up something, DO IT, triple screens, even on smaller screens is amazing. I like playing on my ~110" projection screen, however I enjoy the game much more on 3x 23" LCD's.

Even if you only have room for three standard aspect ratio 15 or 17" monitors, three screen makes a huge difference in my opinion.

tbh, I don't follow this closely but I think someone here said the max you can earn each season is $10 iracing credit?

Picked up on the last two races of the Grand Touring Cup today as I hadn't raced anywhere all week. I dipped a tire off and spun into a wall in the first one and I was passing on lap 2 over a crest and spun into the other guy in the last. Way to feel like an ass.

This is just another thing I love about iRacing that you can't get in any other sim. Sure you can spectate races in other sims, but rarely do you know or care who the people racing are, unless you know them personally. iRacing puts its pros up on a pedestal and gives them publicity, so you actually become a fan/hater of different drivers. Makes me feel like I'm watching a real race.

Ooooooooo, Tony Gardner just did a live interview with the PSRTV guys and said that they are trying to get the NTM on the rest of the cars for the April update. He also said there is a "big graphical update" coming in April as well! I don't know what that means, but I sincerely hope it's a DX11 update. Doubtful, but I'm excited for April.

Well just came across the biggest prick I've seen on iRacing! So I jumped into the F1 race af Watkins, so starting near the back I didn't attack anyone on the start and was gonna just take it easy. So going up the uphill esses I was in front of this guy(my left rear on his right front, so going trough the 2nd turn(uphill right hander) theres contact. My first thought was WTF!! There was enough room and this guy is behind, so immediately I see on the text chat the WTF pop up, so I thought I might have done something wrong and write back "sorry Paul". So I look at the replay and indeed I left him well enough room and it turns out this moron is trying to squeeze me going uphill while beign well behind! So then I said "Sorry Paul but you left me no room there", this prick comes back at me and says "well that's your problem". So there I am thinking to myself what an arrogant piece of sh** this guy is!
Unbeliaveable some people's ego...
So that's the end of my rant! I'll try again on the next one!

yeah, It is a fun car that has tons of grip and downforce and is easy to drive. The hard part for me is driving it as fast as the competition!
