I don't believe in most of the 1x's we get to begin with, but it's our responsibility to drive within the confines of the game. I think for the most part, 1x's should only be given for all 4 wheels going off the track. They should also be given for 2 wheels going off in certain areas that would be considered cutting/cheating. But I do think the game is a bit strict on 1x's considering how we see real life drivers using the entire track in many situations.

Spa made me so sad last week in the Star Mazda. I couldn't make a clean lap to save my life so I focused on Ovals!

This week the Star is hitting Road Atlanta (what a coincidence right). I'm going to at least try to practice Road Atlanta a little bit this week. but I'd like to hit some Ovals as well this week

It did come off as a little rude but who am I to judge. In fact when an iRacing member cracked a joke in a thread at the iRacing forum you told him you were reading in English but did not understand what he was talking about. Sort of came off rather sarcastic.

At times you flex your iRacing authority at several members, both here and at iRacing forums. If you are trying to help Willy perhaps a different approach is needed.

Just wondering, except for these last few posts (which I was in defend/counter-attack mode), does anyone view the advice that I was offering to Swiftwilly as offensive in any way? Serious question, I thought I was offering friendly, but straight to the point, advice but it's obvious he sees it differently.

Fair enough. I was being a bit sarcastic at those times, and it's difficult to convey sarcasm, I apologized for that specific occasion as well. The iRacing forums is a different thing completely, everyone is a d**khead there, so I just play along. I'll try to tone it down a little.

Folks, best idea on how to attach iphone to the Fantec wheel? I know its a bit off topic here...

I want to step up my game a bit and due to the lack of dashboard on the Skip, I would like to know my RPM/SPEED/GEARs without moving my eyes away from the track to the bottom left hand side of the screen!

(using iHud right now, would love to get a SLI PRO but I feel massively guilty if I do when I look at my wife and kid GBP$100 vs $5 app)

If you are close enough to your screen(s) it might be easier to mount it to the monitor with double sided tape. That's how I mounted my SLI-Pro.

I know Fanatec said they were going to be making a mount for the CSW, but I haven't heard anything about other wheels. It might be up to your own ingenuity. Perhaps a L-bracket stuck the wheel and the the phone stuck to the L-bracket?

Ok guys i ranked up my road license to D-Class so what is the best series to buy?

Right now the Skip Barber is pretty popular. However, if you are still enjoying the MX-5, you can try the inRacingNews Challenge which is a multi-class series with the MX-5, Solstice, and Spec Racer Ford.

Mustang! I'm having a great time with it, and the races almost always go official.

Do Atlanta...its a good track. From my experience on it (I have driven both Star Mazda and Skip on this)..

Turn 1, this is one of the harder turns, very tricky, you can easily understeer and end up in the gravel pits or understeer and smack into the wall. Its also tricky as its the exit for the pits so a lot of accidents here. Its also wide enough for some aggro drivers to go easily 2 or even 3 wide here right at the start so my suggestion is not to go mid pack here. Qualify for the front grid, or if you see that your mid pack - think about starting from pit lane,,.

Turn 2, this is where you can get 1x if you want to shave off some time or simply because you totally missed the apex. Not going to go into the debate of whether this is "illegal" but yea..just pointing it out, cop a 1x and you can gain a lot of speed here without any warning flags.

Turn 3, 4 Esses, pedal to the metal.....if your not, your doing it wrong.

The rest is quite easy and I won't go into detail with...until.

the final chicane, get comfortable and know your braking zones here, make sure you can hit it time and time again because you can make up so much time here against others and if you get your exit speed optimal, it will lead to a very easy overtake when you go into the last turn and head down the home straight. (I almost won a race here but I chcoked, ha!, and lost the race by 0.7s).

Good luck.

I'm having troubles with the spec racer ford on lime rock park with chicane. Once I get to the chicane, my car lifts and I lose all grip which causes me to spontaneously combust.

That's what I was thinkin about doin but I'm not sure which tracks I'd buy with it, what are the best 2 tracks for the mustang league? I forgot if spa was in it but I know silverstone isn't (I think it's just american tracks but I can't remember, because I really want spa)

I've never been able to figure out how to run that layout. Braking point almost seems to be mid turn at the hill. Best bet would be to run some practices and see how others are doing it. Probably a lot of left foot braking to keep it stable.

Roush, easy answer is to go to the Mustang series and look at its schedule...

Its very fun to drive. Hard to be fast, but pretty damn forgiving when you put it sideways. Maybe too fun to drive sideways...Its a pretty unique car in the service, and might be your first encounter with the OTM if you haven't driven the Solstice. This week it's at Summit Point, and you can have a lot of fun kicking it around there. I can't tell you what "the best" tracks are...If I'm buying a car I plan to run at all of its tracks if I get around to it that week.

What's OTM and NTM, is there an entire section or something of rules I missed? And I only plan on buying 3 things at once and I'm on my ipod right now but I was just curious which 2 were among the favorites, eventually I'd get all tracks

OTM: Old Tire Model

NTM: New Tire Model

They released an updated tire model which has a major effect on the way each car handles. Not all cars have been updated with the new tire model yet, the Mustang being one of them. More cars are supposed to receive the NTM in the next update.

You know I think I saw something about that or some sort of an update the very day I joined then a few days later the news changed to the rookie refresh, I have only tested the solstice for about half an hr, I'm not a fan of the rookie road course cars. I love the legend, and I wish they did road course with it as well because there are a lot of road course legend series too (INEX sactioned and unsanctioned), and I commonly test the legend on laguna seca

dang it, that would've been a blast at least to me.

I just checked out the tracks for the mustang, Spa is a definite yes, but my second one I'm not sure about. Oulton park, the glen, ...............they all look great I can't decide!

I just noticed I hit oval Class D today(Rookie promo day)! oh well we'll see what happens on the 4th if I create a new account and how well it works.

Alright guys, I know that I used to post in this thread a lot. But I've had to take a 3 month break from the internet and iRacing. I still read the thread but rarely made posts. I have recently been given a good amount of free time due to both my colleges coming to a semester end.

Having returned to iRacing last night. I got to say, tons of updates! But that being said, before hand I did a ton of HPD stuff. Actually, that was about all that i did. I was reading some of the things that were changed and I noticed that there was quite a bit. I decided to head out on a practice session at Silverstone. After 5 laps I was already lapping 2 seconds faster than the next closest HPD. So I can say that I really like the changes. The car feels more stable, but at the same time slower and a bit more difficult to drive. I quite like it.

As for the other cars. I just drove the Star Mazda for an hour or two. And can honestly say that I'm not impressed. The new tire model makes the suspension feel softer than a street car and I think that is definitely not right. Having driven this car in real life, it definitely does not feel anything like that. It's quite stiff, and is very responsive. I was really disappointed because I have my first race in Formula Challenge Japan coming up in the coming weeks, and wanted to get some practice with tire simulation. But, I guess I can't really rely on that anymore.

So what are your thoughts GTP? Do you like the newer changes that have taken place? I haven't liked the new Tire Model from the beginning. Just feels too artificial.

edit: Sorry if the English is a bit confusing to understand. You'd be surprised how much you forget when you live outside of the country for 8 months!

OH HOW COULD I FORGET! There's something called a RAM mount that they make for the iPad and iPhone, and they come in multiple different designs and people mount them right to their yokes (aircraft). I'd just show up @ Spencer aircraft here @ KPLU but try your local airport shops

http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/AppleMounts/tabid/1647/Default.aspx#/

Hit the link in the page and it allows you to select your apple device, w/ or w/o a case, then select aviation mounts, then yoke mounts, and it will show you both pieces the holder and mount

Quite an interesting thread going on here:

http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1862618.page

I have one guess that it's Lotus, as the Esprit was developed in 1975. But since the Exige/Elise aren't officially being produced anymore, that would mean we would get the Evora, bleh. We do already have classic Lotus formula cars in the game and upcoming, but I don't think there is an official partnership with Lotus.

Some say BMW as the 3-series was released in 1975.

Another person just mentioned RUF as a possibility, which would be very cool!

swiftwilly it would be worth checking out RAM mounts (they are in Australia) - they will surely have some sort of combination to allow you to mount it to your wheel. I bought some mounts for my motorbike and my cockpit and I had it at my door within a few days
