Getting a tiny bit better on Laguna...quite proud on such a difficult track. Amazing....was playing around with iSpeed overlaps but only works in windows mode:( Looks like iHud or SLI is the way to go...

Buy yourself a 10" USB monitor :) That's what I use for iSpeed. Works a treat...

Do Atlanta...its a good track. From my experience on it (I have driven both Star Mazda and Skip on this)..

Turn 1, this is one of the harder turns, very tricky, you can easily understeer and end up in the gravel pits or understeer and smack into the wall. Its also tricky as its the exit for the pits so a lot of accidents here. Its also wide enough for some aggro drivers to go easily 2 or even 3 wide here right at the start so my suggestion is not to go mid pack here. Qualify for the front grid, or if you see that your mid pack - think about starting from pit lane,,.

Turn 2, this is where you can get 1x if you want to shave off some time or simply because you totally missed the apex. Not going to go into the debate of whether this is "illegal" but yea..just pointing it out, cop a 1x and you can gain a lot of speed here without any warning flags.

Turn 3, 4 Esses, pedal to the metal.....if your not, your doing it wrong.

The rest is quite easy and I won't go into detail with...until.

the final chicane, get comfortable and know your braking zones here, make sure you can hit it time and time again because you can make up so much time here against others and if you get your exit speed optimal, it will lead to a very easy overtake when you go into the last turn and head down the home straight. (I almost won a race here but I chcoked, ha!, and lost the race by 0.7s).

Good luck.

Thanks a lot I'll keep these tips in mind when I practice later tonight 👍

Alright guys, I know that I used to post in this thread a lot. But I've had to take a 3 month break from the internet and iRacing. I still read the thread but rarely made posts. I have recently been given a good amount of free time due to both my colleges coming to a semester end.

Having returned to iRacing last night. I got to say, tons of updates! But that being said, before hand I did a ton of HPD stuff. Actually, that was about all that i did. I was reading some of the things that were changed and I noticed that there was quite a bit. I decided to head out on a practice session at Silverstone. After 5 laps I was already lapping 2 seconds faster than the next closest HPD. So I can say that I really like the changes. The car feels more stable, but at the same time slower and a bit more difficult to drive. I quite like it.

As for the other cars. I just drove the Star Mazda for an hour or two. And can honestly say that I'm not impressed. The new tire model makes the suspension feel softer than a street car and I think that is definitely not right. Having driven this car in real life, it definitely does not feel anything like that. It's quite stiff, and is very responsive. I was really disappointed because I have my first race in Formula Challenge Japan coming up in the coming weeks, and wanted to get some practice with tire simulation. But, I guess I can't really rely on that anymore.

So what are your thoughts GTP? Do you like the newer changes that have taken place? I haven't liked the new Tire Model from the beginning. Just feels too artificial.

edit: Sorry if the English is a bit confusing to understand. You'd be surprised how much you forget when you live outside of the country for 8 months!

I am curious what do you think of the Skip Barber car now and how does that compare to the real car? Does the real car really oversteer when you lift and gain traction when you slam on the gas? I think you said it matches up before

Hm, I'm having trouble finding a small USB Monitor to order online. Why are small monitors so hard to find? :banghead:

I'd like to hook one up to iSpeed. Going to try calling up FRY's electronics later to see if they have any

Got mine from eBay UK. The link is here for reference if it helps. I'm sure there must be sellers in the States on eBay USA who offer something similar (if not identical) :)

I actually bought this particular model as it has a VESA mount...

"Look who iRacing just partnered with!"

Which D class series has the least expensive price? I like Mustang and Skip and all but I dont want to spend a ton on tracks... So which one would i end up spending the least in and what should i get

RUF? Awesome!

You may as well just pick a car and buy tracks. It gets cheaper to run the next series as you may only need to pick up a couple of tracks. Skip and Mustang probably use the most base tracks. GTC uses I think one less base track because you already have the car.

Oh yeah! Very much looking forward to this baby! Hope they put it on overdrive and have it ready for season 3!

Yes more options so I dot have to race the Skip. Haha.

I don't have enough room for another small monitor unfortunately.

Looks terrible? Wow! I guess beauty really is subjective. I think 911's are some of the most beautiful cars in the world.

If the RUF turns out to be even halfway decent, I think I may finally have a car I will race almost exclusively.

porsche 993 are one of the most sexiest cars ever in my opinion

Way better looking then the trash nowadays with power steering, sat nav and other stupid things that just add weight and ruin a car that was supposed to be a light weight, agile and a car that you actually drive, not have the car drive itself.

Going to be some interesting series ideas re multicar racing. Be awesome. This could be the new idea for iRacing to boost poor driver numbers in different series. I like it.

I would however, stil rather the MP4 :P A mate just got one and it looks so dam amazing in real life, however the engine sounds are quite "muted" compared to the other sports cars.

dang it, that would've been a blast at least to me.

I just checked out the tracks for the mustang, Spa is a definite yes, but my second one I'm not sure about. Oulton park, the glen, ...............they all look great I can't decide!

I just noticed I hit oval Class D today(Rookie promo day)! oh well we'll see what happens on the 4th if I create a new account and how well it works.

Welcome to Class D! SK Mod is on the OTM and is a blast to drive. Pretty laid back atmosphere. Late Model is bit more popular but very hardcore crowd. I prefer the SK Mod to the LM but both cars are great. Late Model is on the NTM so no fear of iRacing totally destroying the car anytime soon. when LM first got put on NTM the car was horrible from the floor to the roof but they quickly fixed it after we all screamed and yelled at the devs for that mistake.

You know I think I saw something about that or some sort of an update the very day I joined then a few days later the news changed to the rookie refresh, I have only tested the solstice for about half an hr, I'm not a fan of the rookie road course cars. I love the legend, and I wish they did road course with it as well because there are a lot of road course legend series too (INEX sactioned and unsanctioned), and I commonly test the legend on laguna seca

Legend does have a road series but it only occurs during Week 13. you'll see. Right at the end of the season. I havent tried it yet myself but it looks like great fun. Just earn you some extra SR and stuff before Week 13. Every day the track changes so not much time to practice or anything. The whole point is to just hop out there and wreck it I guess. Last 13th I just did Intel GT series myself

I'd take Watkins Glen over any track. Especially over Spa. Spa is an awesome track tho. Very beautiful. Just a bit too anal with the 1x (for me!)

The thing is, the RUF they have shown in the picture is a 700+ hp RWD street car built for weekend racing duties. With that said, it will be difficult to put it into a multi-class race with "race cars."

I think they will start out with a RUF Supercup or something similar with just the RUF.

Also good news, looks like next season we'll be getting a GT-only multi-class series. So finally I can enjoy driving the Ford GT without having to concern myself with being divebombed in the corners by the much faster HPD's. Tony Gardner responded one (of many) posts requesting this asking exactly how we would like it implemented.

Hopefully HPD can get its own series too. I might come back to my car then. Had so much fun in Intel GT. Was so much less stressful not having to worry bout "will this GT car really let me by" and "oh %$% he closed the door" and "oh crap I gotta follow my competition aorund this GT car before the door closes"

Was just too much for me at my current skill level 4 sho :scared:

Don't know even with all the HPD madness going on arround the GT field I still like it, when the race goes well it is awesome, but it can go bad so so quick...
iRacing needs to get the Oreca LMPC cars in the service, that would make for an awesome Prototype series using the HPD/Oreca/SR8. That and make the HPD an A license car, maybe that way people would think twice before doing those crazy Banzai moves...

I wouldn't mind the HPD's one bit, as I rarely have a problem with them anyways, if I was racing with more than two other people in the Ford GT class.

That's the biggest problem IMO. I've only done 5 or 6 races in the Ford GT, but each time I ended up pretty much by myself after lap 1. I was either ahead of a much slower GT or far behind much faster GT's (much more common, LOL).

But the main reason participation is so low is because no one wants to deal with the HPD's.

Maybe better to create another car on par
With HPD for better mutliclass or make longer tracks like the ring or la sarthe

Not surprised, faster cars want to pass, but can't because there is a car blocking.

Define blocking?

In multiclass racing it is the responsibility of the passing car to safely make the pass. The slower car is required to do nothing except hold the racing line.

It is always the mid-fielders that will give you trouble, for example my race today. I was on the C6.R along with 6 other Vettes and 3 Fords, by the time the HPD started to lap us I was fighting for 5th in my class. The lead HPDs got trough with no drama, they where patient and played their cards well, no much time lost for them or us. Now as soon as the mid-fielders started to come trough I had to drive with my mirror, the passing attempts are always messy, they dive bomb you 3 at a time and if you're not carefull they'll push you wide and ruin your day in no time! The backmarkers will try and be patient but will rattle you just by sitting there and not doing anything.
By the time the HPD field had cycle trough the gp had grown from 1 to almost 15 seconds between me and the guy I was racing with 2 laps earlier!

Thanks, the late model would be cool, but I watch 'em race every weekend from the pits cuz legends and late models are almost always on the same schedule IRL. They are just like clown cars (except the cars are the clowns and the track is the car) on these 1/4 mile ovals, like WVSO up here in Washington, they take up the whole track, I'd be hitting walls not so much left than right

When is week 13? ..... I guess a better question is there a full year schedule somewhere that I can see?

That's a very good point with the 1x, the glen and spa are it then

thats so true. i only drive the HPD i just can not brake with the vette. but i am that guy thats always in the top 5 (never the lead ugh). i think what causes this. is the mid fielders are hot shots who have no practice. the leaders have already practiced for an hour+ so they know where the cars are slow and where its easy to pass. and i think the back makers are just people that are just to scared for their own good.
