Hm, that's the kicker. I've never given the Mustang a fair shake. I've owned plenty in real life. Didn't see what was the point of driving a car I've actually raced on the street and playing the virtual version. you know, it's like those pro racers like Pablo Donoso and such. You rarely see them drive the same car

So to be honest I can't say... It looks bloody fun. I've spectated Mustang races. They always seem close and they can take lots of punishment

The other thing I'm not sure about is if I should bite the bullet and do a season or two in the Skippy. I'm thinking I'm going to find it very frustrating by what I've heard about it. Although I'm wondering if the lessons it teaches me will be so valuable that I should do it anyway.

It's funny. Every time I think I have it figured out what I want to do next season I change my mind within a few days.
 
The Mustang is pretty good fun! I never did a full season with the car but my aproach to iRacing was pretty much to get to B license to do the GT/Proto series, so at the time I just used the ladder MX5=====>Mustang======>DP=====>GT/Proto. On my time in iRacing i've found that all cars and series are a lot of fun and all present a new challenge. Right now I'm on my second season focused solely on the Corvette, that wasn't the plan for this season but the circumstances I find myself in keep me in the Vette for another season wich I have absolutely no problem with!
 
I'd recommend the Mustang, in fact it's the only car I've ever done a full season in and I really enjoyed it. It's super easy to drive and out of a full season I only had 1 race not go official.

The star mazda is so fun! The only problem I have is setting the FOV and angle, I can't use the dash because then I can't see the front of the car! So I have to use farther FOV so at the bottom of my screen you can see the pedals and almost the shifter... :yuck:
 
The mustang is fun, at first (particularly after trying the CTS-V) it seems slow, but although it's slower, it's a little more forgiving than the CTS, because it's pretty easy to maintain a powerslide. You sort of have to powerslide it around some corners to be fast, like that gradual 90 degree corner at road america, just so you don't encounter understeer. I'd recommend it for class D, but it's the only class D car I've tried

For most of that movie I adjusted the replay so people could see the cockpit more. But I drive with a really close FOV as recommended by the calculator. Anyway, I can see my dash. Is your FOV closer than 45 Deg?

My FOV is 68, I don't like going super close because I can't see my mirrors :(

In most cars I use 85 deg. with virtual mirror (I don't run any open cockpit cars though, and I haven't checked with the calculator though)
 
Did a couple of races with the IndyCar at Road America. The first one didn't go very well. I hadn't done qualify and started in the middle of the pack. After a few laps I made a mistake and crashed but fortunately I managed to sort of repair the car so I could finish the race. Second race went better. I qualified so I could start more at the front pack and I managed to grab third place.

I like the track but the fixed setup is crap. Still it's fun to drive, both races had over 20 drivers on the grid.

btw he made the jump from simracing to being a paid racing driver irl. Probably one of the very few in the world that made it

He didn't have lots of racing experience before simracing (for example all GT Academy winners did have), doesn't use it as an advertising stunt after getting there or just to learn the tracks (most), or just to have fun (like Kubica, who won the Polish Colin Mcrae championship when he was racing in F1).
 
Starting tonight I'll be racing an IndyCar championship organized by iRacing Brasil. Tonight's race is at Watkins Glen, commentaries are in Portuguese but if anyone feels like watching the race will be live streamed at www.iracingbrasil.com.br.

We'll be racing for ten weeks, every Thursdays night. It starts at 22:30 over here, which I believe is 01:30 GMT. Also on Mondays there's a Cadillac championship and Tuesdays a NASCAR one.
 
Dont know if its been brought up yet, but NTM to be hitting the Falcon V8 next week. On phone so dont have link to the thread, but at track change the update will be available barring some disaster.

I hope it brings more people to the V8. I would love to run some seasons in it. The current way the official races go don't agree with my schedule.:(

Can't wait. As a huge fan of the series already, really looking forward to the NTM. From what i've heard the car handles almost the same as real life now. So can't wait. I think next week's round will be a huge SOF.
 
Damn. Right after I sell my pedals and wheel of course they update the one car I've been looking forward to the NTM on the most. :/
 
Yep, it's going to be a great step forward for the V8. And hopefully we get some more random pickup sessions during the week with the increased participation.
 
What I don’t get is the rating which allows me to rank up licences. I drove a clean race bar 1 crash (which wasn’t my fault) and I’m demoted 13 points?

All thats missing from my perspective, Nurburgring + Nordschleife (i know it would take a century to scan) & a Porsche GT3 Cup (997) or a Porsche GT3 MR or R. (but i know licencing issues are there)

Well the safety rating(SR) system goes off of corners per incident(CPI). Meaning the more corners you drive clean with no incidents the more SR you will gain. If you have a incident every couple of corners you not going to gain obviously. In general to gain SR you have to do a clean 0 incident races sometimes multiple races clean to gain SR depending on how you CPI is looking.

If you have even 1 crash or just a few incidents like 1x off track you are going to lose SR most of the time. Only time you can gain a little SR and have incidents is in the longer races where you might get a incident or two and the start of the race and the rest of your race is clean so you had a lot of clean consecutive corners. Also 1 crash as you said is kinda vague because 1 crash could be 1 incident or you could have had multiple incident points in that 1 crash. For example someone could push you off track and you get a 4x for that then you spin getting another 2x then if you were to run off track that could be another 1 or 2x then if you hit the wall that could be another 1x. So it's possible to rack up 5-9 incident points from just 1 crash.

so If I'm drafting at Talladega, and I get a contact (0x) for bumping the guy in front, does it affect my SR at all?
