Well the safety rating(SR) system goes off of corners per incident(CPI). Meaning the more corners you drive clean with no incidents the more SR you will gain. If you have a incident every couple of corners you not going to gain obviously. In general to gain SR you have to do a clean 0 incident races sometimes multiple races clean to gain SR depending on how you CPI is looking.

If you have even 1 crash or just a few incidents like 1x off track you are going to lose SR most of the time. Only time you can gain a little SR and have incidents is in the longer races where you might get a incident or two and the start of the race and the rest of your race is clean so you had a lot of clean consecutive corners. Also 1 crash as you said is kinda vague because 1 crash could be 1 incident or you could have had multiple incident points in that 1 crash. For example someone could push you off track and you get a 4x for that then you spin getting another 2x then if you were to run off track that could be another 1 or 2x then if you hit the wall that could be another 1x. So it's possible to rack up 5-9 incident points from just 1 crash.

Incidents don't usually accumulate from one event. When you see something like:

Off track (1x)
Loss of Control (1x -> 2x)

it means that the original incident was promoted to a 2x.

If you get a 4x from a crash, and run the rest of the race totally clean (assuming you finish, and that you completed all but maybe a couple laps short of the leader), you should gain SR unless you have a really high license level where you're held to a much higher standard.

I decided to get a little head start on next weeks Cadillac cup @ Infineon, and I must say, that there is no way the rookies are going to be able to do one lap:scared:

I think they went through the track list and thought "hmm, this car hates coming over crests, which tracks have the most crests?"

Just did a decent race in it at Mid Ohio. Spun on lap 1 going a little too wide and still on power, after that it wasn't bad, only times off track were trying to make moves next to another car...that doesn't work with these it seems. Lost all stability even on the inside of turn 1 taking a little bump with the outside car. I did t-bone a car that spun and came across the middle of the track and only crumpled the front, no real damage (maybe aero). The key to keeping the car handling well is to absolutely never lock up a tire and pay attention to where it spins the inside wheel (exit of turn 2, using 2nd gear can do it) and don't do that either. Qualified 4th finished 9th. Better than I've been doing anyway.

 so true, Most tracks have 1-2 bad spots to watch out for, like the downhill left hander and the double 90 hairpin @ Mosport. but Infineon has a bad spot in every corner for the CTS (especially for rookies), I've never raced Mid-Ohio before other than a few practices and decided not to run it this week because I felt just as unstable as week 1 Mosport.

so If I'm drafting at Talladega, and I get a contact (0x) for bumping the guy in front, does it affect my SR at all?

But.... If you 0x and the guy you touched screws up because of it. You will receive the 2x 4x for causing it.

understood

I just ran an SS race and there was a massive pile up on the rolling grid, the guy behind me didn't hit his brakes and Just drilled me

edit: hey vince, did you see the 12 car cut me off and take out the guy in front of me the caused me to barrel roll like michael mcdowell at texas?

edit 2: that was an awesome race Vince, we almost had a 1-2 GTP finish, but I got impatient and got freight-trained. I still finished 3rd, good job Vince on your win:tup::gtpflag:

Lol, I was hoping you would pull past him. That kid behind me was making me nervous. Turned out he was actually a great racer. Gotta love that SS series when you have clean air. Did my "hillbilly" accent make you chuckle? Great racing Aaron.

I don't have a mic so I can't hear you, we were all drafting off of you so it was a super tight pack, when I was behind you I tried a lot of the tricks to get you to slip up but you stuck to the bottom, I even tried passing below the line on the backstretch but my draft wouldn't sustain me:lol: great race

You can have it set where the chat comes through the speakers. I think everyone needs to have it on for race communications like when people are trying to tell you when they are passing and stuff. I guess you didn't hear me tonight either then when I told you I shared my setup in the practice sessions tonight .

no, I didn't hear you, but I saw it downloaded it, just personal preference, I turned rear rebound stiffness down 2 clicks to 8 too help with braking, the setup is just a tad loose on exit which is fine, it even took 2 seconds off my time, I'm down to the 1:33.6 range, averaging in the low 1:34's thanks:tup:.

where is the setting for the headset to come through speakers at?

Guys I know this is last week's conversation but the news just surfaced, not quite iRacing but the closest competitor is doing it:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7103513#post7103513

Hopefully this will push them to get arround doing it!

Nurb 24hr is coming up though, maybe they're just out there pushing the product with a booth and whatever. iRacing staff have said the Ring will have a massive load on the PC performance. And honestly its a horrible racetrack.

I received a hate's message some weeks ago and I don't plan to reply to it, because I don't want to encourage this childish talk I see all the time in the chat screen when peoples crashes etc.

"You are the most worst educated human being in the planet.

Your parents surely did not educate you.

You hit me and don't even bother to apologize.

****"

If I hit him, I don't remember I hit somebody, so if that ever happened thats probably the reason why I didn't apologize to him, but if thats how He ask for it He's not gonna get it from me.

I think if something like this happened to him, He would be dead from rage.:indiff:

What do you think?

Ok cool at least you got it. I'm glad it helped some. I tried going to 8 on the rear with the rebound, but I just didn't like it. I wish I could get it a little more stable on the exits, but whatever I try I just seem to go backwards.

The sound settings are in the garage area. There's an option tab right beside the garage/car setup tab. Click on that and you will come to the screen with all your options like graphics, sound, etc. Click on the sound tab and there will be an option for mic playback I believe it's called. You can have it coming through a mic/headset if you have one plugged in or you can have it come through your speakers.

got it, haven't tried it yet though, I've been testing the CTS on some tracks that I bought at the beginning of the season but haven't used yet. Oulton park is amazing with the CTS and mustang, even the legend:D. I may have a new favorite track!

Hard to get excited when one realizes it takes them forever to add a new car. Theyve announced all these new cars and havent added anything since the caddy

I love the homda hsv too

haha

I got back the other day from vacation and was excited to read the news about the HSV010 and then I read your post and thought, 'yeah, this is true. We are still waiting for the Lotus49, McClaren, and RUF.'

I did not see an announcement at IRacing for the NGTC Honda Civic? Has this been confirmed or is it a rumor?
thanks.

Nothing has been released since the caddy mainly because they add new cars and tracks when they start a new season. I wouldn't be looking for anymore updates until next season. It does take them a while to get a new car because of how they scan it mostly I would think and I also think they announce new cars right when they know they will be scanning one so when they announce one they probably havent quite started on it yet. That would be my guess. At least we know we got 4 cars coming. The mclaren & lotus were announced awhile back though.

I know the hardcore oval guys are having a fit lol. I've seen some post on the forums about people complaining there are too many road cars coming out and no oval cars. A good friend of mine that races only oval really was just talking about it the other day too. I'm sure he was real happy to see the new Honda coming out lol. I like having new cars in general but I race right much oval as well so I would like to see some more oval cars come out like a super late model. Only thing about so many road cars coming out is it starts to water down the series. There are road series now that hardly has any participation and now they are coming out with 4 more road cars.

Ummmm, the Cadillac only came out a few weeks ago. They aren't going to release a new car mid-season anyways. So don't expect anything new until S3, at that point I believe we will be receiving the McLaren (possibly the Lotus 49, can't remember the order).

Both Hondas have been confirmed, look on the main page.

What more can they add for the oval guys really? Only thing I can think of is dirt stuff and I can't see iRacing doing that because I remembered them mentioning that it will be a really long time before they even try other surfaces due to how hard they are to replica in a simulation matter.

It's very fun to drive on, but it does suck to race on. It's damn near impossible to pass

They are starting work on the Hondas this fall, the McLaren and Lotus we are getting next season possibly the Ruf too. The Hondas will be released on January, they've already announced the partnership with Super GT and the official super GT series to start on S1 2013.

Finally got my first win in under a week of having the sim :)

http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?&subsessionid=5654293&custid=93437

The race was pretty clean from m point of view and the lapped cars didn't try and race you (which is extremely rare in the rookie series)

Edit: Just got my second win
http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?&subsessionid=5654600&custid=93437

I've just completed my first week too but I got my first 3 wins on my second day - which isn't as good as it sounds really. I let it go to my head a little and started expecting far too much of myself and pushing too hard and not practicing enough.

I'm sure you already know this but just don't let it get to your head like I did. When the next week starts on a new track or if you start a different series with a different car, I fully recommend taking the same approach as you do when you first start racing - i.e. practice as much as possible.

I'm still forgetting this as I keep wanting to just put on iRacing and have a couple of races in my free time - its such a big mistake. I think I'm still too used to booting up GT5 or whatever and jumping in some races for an hour - I'm finding I really can't do that with iRacing because it just results in a lot of mistakes and frustration.

Even today I'm still doing it. Yesterday I spent a good 4-5 hours playing a succession of 8 races in MX5 Cup and SRF with practice/testing/qualifying in between where possible. It resulted in a couple of wins and 7 podiums. Today I boot it up and think "well, I spent so much time yesterday, I'm feeling confident with these tracks/cars so I'll skimp on the practice". Big mistake. Made so many errors today in just two races, ended up in a race with someone I had only just added as a friend and ended up taking them out :ouch:.

I seem to be forever switching from being super-careful and winning to being over-confident and spectacularly failing. At least today I had the sense to stop after 2 races as it was obvious today was not going to be a good day. So my SR isn't being damaged as much after recovering a lot yesterday.

It didn't help that I distracted myself by somehow losing the calibration on my wheel and then not calibrating it quite the same - but even so its no excuse for trying to over-drive (because I was slow getting re-used to my bad calibration, I kept trying to make up time).

But anyway, yeah, congrats on the wins! I hope you don't make the same mistakes I have, just keep doing what you did before the wins!

My Search-Fu is failing me. Do anyone have a linky to the Honda Civic announcement? When I look at the mainpage the article only talks about the HSV-010?
thanks!
:)

cool! This car sounds like I might be able to handle it on the track! LOL don't know about that powerful HSV-010. :)
"The Civic is a Front-wheel-drive touring car with a 2-litre turbocharged production-based 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing approximately 300bhp with a 7,000 rev limit, 0.8 bar of boost and inlet-restrictor. Its equipped with a 6-speed sequential semi-automatic gearbox"

superbike said their was an article confirming the Honda Civic at the iracing mainpage but I cannot find it? anyone?
