Well finally purchased iRacing, must say that the forums are a little bare which was a disappointment. But in a few weeks I'll have a computer and will be racing. 👍

If everything goes well, I probably will get a new PC ... if it hasn't been sold already. (used PC)
So one question, is the difference between low graphics settings and high settings big? I know it won't make you faster, but I still need to know it. :p

A little bare? In what way?

Doesn't seem to me at first anyway that there's any introduction threads or just general discussion like the Ramblings thread on here.

There's heaps.

There's even a full intro video series on racing on iracing

FYI. You get better forums on iracing. Its a lot more organised and iracing community is well known Not trying to bag people out here by the way. But gtplanets iracing firms is quite messy as we all post in the same thread and it simply becomes a place here everyone asks basic questions although there is a lot more helpful threads on iracing. This place has just become very very difficult to navigate.

Good luck.

I mean introduction threads as in the 'Introduce Yourself!" thread on here..

Watched a lot of that series already, but it's not very off topic.

Thing is I don't know what to do first. Haven't a clue where I'm trying to go.

Also, bought the basic package. But haven't a clue what cars or tracks I have. How do you check that?

Bought the basic package?

What do you mean?

You didn't get the Cadillac deal with 6 months of iracing for free?

No, cause I forgot about it.. And I won't have the money to buy a year then anyway.

Wow! What a start to the season! Back in the C6.R for another season of Proto/GT fixed! I got the top split for this race and started 6th out of 6 Vettes, so expectations were just to not make any mistakes and try to keep up. Got a good start and made up a possition, so I kept my nose clean and after 5 laps the whole field was still nose to tail! Then one by one they where making very small mistakes but enough for me to take advantage, so I did! One by one made my way up and by lap 12 I was on second hunting down first place 1 second ahead, the LMP field started to lap us and did so very very cleanly and skillfully so no one lost or gain any time! Last lap and I was closer than ever! Going up the esses the leader makes a small mistake and I got right to his bumper, going into T6 I was right there and got a bit of a run into T7 and I went for it! Hugged the inside but my car washed out a bit wide so I tried to rotate with the throtle and gave it a bit much and had to lift and saw a .5 gap appear out of nowhere the leader hung on to first and I came in second about 1 second behind and the points lead on D3.
All in all a great race, best race I've had in a loong time! Sorry to bore you with this but I'm still stoked and smiling! Racing like this is why I love this series so much!

Well I am now a C class oval guy, not sure if I'm happy or not because I don't really own many tracks period other than ones that are free.

I'm not sure what to buy to get my moneys worth, I do own Michigan/Atlanta/Glen. I was thinking Martinsville but I'm not sure. Trucks and Indycar oval are only 2 I really want to drive honestly outside of late models.

I do need some help because I'm confused about all these FFB changes people talk about. I have no clue where to make changes or what if anything needs to be. I'm running the DFGT wheel/pedal and have only set it up using iracings little program in the sim itself. I don't think I did anything with setup before iracing but can't remember other than install software.

For what I understand C class is the class to be on the oval side so I'd look into those series you mentioned and buy the tracks according to those schedules!

Not boring at all, thats the kind of stuff that keeps you coming back for more. Good job on the 2nd place finish, it certainly pays off to be consistent and not make mistakes.

I'll second this. No pun intended :p

I've heard that too, just unsure of which route to go. Probably look at list tomorrow and compare the series races to see what crosses over. I'm excited about trucks, I love them hands down my favorite to drive.

hell yea!!! wish I could watch a replay of that

Ran 10 laps on Mosport in the Caddy in a TT and got +0.41 with one off track. :p

Wich one is your favorite one?
I love the Caddy too, only wish that iRacing would make it an open setup series, I hate their base setup, simply can't get that confidence feeling from it...

I realized I have a lot to do in the coming months particularly this month, I don't know if I'll be doing much iRacing. Definitely not completing the min credit participation like I did last season in the mustang :D or any complete leagues.....

I did freaking 22 laps in TT and got +0.04. what the hell (I did have a couple spin off, but still)

IIBC, someone here stated that TTs only give you sumfink like 0.33x SR compared to an official race. If you want a big jump in SR join an official race, stay on track, have a nice Sunday drive at the back of the field, avoid wreckers and you can get >0.2x (ymmv - this is what I get in a road course).
good luck!

lol. I love the Cadillac. Probably my second favorite car in the game at the moment.

I am learning to appreciate the caddy. I did not like it when it was released because it was too much of a beast!! :scared:

With my new wheel I find I have better control of the car and I can have some fun running laps.

I did my first Caddy race last night at the Mosport track. It was nice to see all the other pilots having problems and running off the track! LOL I started in the pits and got up to 3rd place before losing it at T2 and finishing 5th or 6th.

My highest SR jump was in a Mazda race when I was a rookie, I gained 0.62 SR, I don't know how lol since I don't understand SR that much

EDIT: maybe as said, I got the 0.4 bonus jumping from 2.00 to 3.00 ?

I hate the Caddy, at least the fixed setup. That car is just so damn nervous in just about every situation, I feel like I'm walking on a tightrope while driving it. The C6R feels SOOOOOOOOOO much more stable.

JAV: Any updates on how testing is going with the weight ballast experiments? If you need a session hosted let me know, I'd be happy to contribute, even though I might not be able to actually race (depends on what time you need it up).

I'm giving a try with Caddy this season. Its rookie class and its hard to stay not crushed by someone, but it feels much more of racing car than MX-5 and Pontiac.
