Probably a stupid question. But how can i prevent lock-up whit the Mazda car. Whit the solstice i have no problem but when i change back to the mazda i can't use my brakes. I barely hit the brake padel and my wheel shakes.

Solstice has ABS, MX-5 doesn't. Gradually apply pressure, don't just slam the brake to the floor and get your braking points right, it will still shake but not as much. It requires a different driving style in the Solstice, the Solstice you can slam the brakes on with no consequences, do this in the MX-5 and you'll have a nice date with the nearest solid object. Take a look at the Iracing Driving School videos under the reference section, it has a whole video committed to braking, and how to brake in different cars and different situations. You could also buy a book called Ultimate Speed Secrets by Ross Bentley, it's for real racing, but surprsingly a lot of the techniques in the book can be applied to Iracing. Good luck 👍

You could also try to re calibrate it in the game, I have very sensitive pedals if I remove the wheel from the PC to reconnect it. So every time I remove the USB I have to do this.

So try that. braking without doing it is impossible and have nothing to do with your braking style.

Try brake curve factor 0 and less front bias if that doesn't help

Do the pedals you're using for iracing have a load cell? If so then try setting your brake curve to 0 if you haven't done so already. If you don't have a load cell then try increasing the brake curve.
I now use the Fanatec CSR Elite pedals with my DFGT wheel now on iracing so have my brake curve on 0 but before when I was using the DFGT pedals I had to set a different curve for each car somewhere between 2.00 and 2.7 to prevent easy lock-ups.

Like I've said before, if you can keep the wheel from shaking, you're going easier on the tires. The shake apparently is an ABS effect. Also keep in mind that iRacing does model brake heat, which transfers into the wheels, heating up the tire and increasing air pressure. The more you can stay off the brakes, the less tire heat and pressure will develop.

Well if the calibration is needed to be done it's pretty stupid to change anything so start with that maxitsu. You been driving your way out of Rookie so I guess this happened recently.

If I unplug the wheel and plug it back in I can move my brake pedal 1mm and I have full lock up and when I re calibrate it I can move it a lot more.. not calibrated it works like a on/off button. And as we have the same wheel I guess it will be like that with you too

Just push every pedal all the way some time before driving the car. The wheel just needs to see how much travel it has. Only happens to me when the PC has been restarted or the wheel unplugged.

It's the same with GT5.

Just as the wheel spins to calibrate at the start, you have to depress both pedals.

I forgot how much I enjoy late models, it still has the wreckers in it though. The setups I've found just either get too tight through a run or stay a little too loose but seem to push a little after a hard run. Just haven't found a good setup to fit my driving style.

I have found out I seem to brake later than most guys when I'm really pushing, so I have to over brake causing some lockup which doesn't do me any good.

Almost had a bad wreck one race last night after I messed up and tagged the wall. My steering was a little off, but caught up to 2/3 battling while leader was on my tail just watching. 2/3 battled for good 10 laps, and we all seemed to swap places til I got shuffled to 4th. 5 laps to go , leader passed us all and back to battling. They were side by side going into 3, got together coming out of 4 just as I was hard on the gas. I some how slammed on brakes, let them spin inside and outside while I split them down the middle. It seems like usually I get caught up in those wreck.

I am debating between Iowa since it covers 3 series I want to run and Martinsville which only has 2.

I actually don't know what happent. I could race whit the Mazda pretty decent. After i spend some races whit the Solstice i thought i had problems to adapt again to the Mazda's handling, but i couldn't adapt. So yeah its worht to try re-calibrate thing. Anyways, tomorrow i am gonna change my T500 steering wheel. Its sleightly off-centre (in gameplay) for a long time now. It will be a good back-up in case. I want again that perfect feeling. and i don't want become wheelless.

Did they change the contact settings, or whatever you want to call it. It used to if you brushed the wall, it was 0x, now nothing atleast in late models. You seem to be able to bump a little without as much penalty.

Something I've noticed is a lot of higher ranking drivers running in the lower class series, I've noticed a number of Class A and B drivers in the Miata Cup, and the Inracing challenge mixed amongst Rookies and Class D drivers, they have no problems embarrassing us lower class drivers.. I'm just curious what the appeal is? Easy wins or something?

I don't understand the appeal of running the Miata when you could run something like the Ford GT, Corvette, Indy Car, etc, etc, etc. Some people really get hooked on the Miata for some reason though. I think it's just too slow to have any real fun with it, but that's just my opinion.

No to the first and no to the second. The confusion comes from the "brake assist" feature available to Rookies.

Going through a few of the higher class drivers I've raced against lately, they seem to have relatively poor finishes in the higher class series., and for the most part good finishes in the lower class series such as the Miata.. It's odd.

Not really, to win in the MX5 Cup you only need to be consistent and to win in the higher classes you need to be consistently fast!

Class C comes quick but Class A.... Needs some skills, a couple of my friends in this area who do iracing have license graphs that go into B and back into C then Back into B then it either levels out or they slowly make it back up to A and drop and back up and just maintain

That happened to me. I was at C then went to B and back to C. I'm not sure if I'm alone on this one but as I get into the higher classes I put a lot of pressure on myself to do better. My only win above Rookie and D class is my truck win at Charlotte. I only won that race because of fuel strategy. I was 4th or 5th fastest consistently. The best car finished 6th and the second best finished 2nd.

I have no idea why I do it, but I feel like I will never have good finishes unless I have the best car (which I usually never do). The only time I had a good car was in a hosted session at Iowa and I was racing against a few pro drivers. I wanted to compare speed and I was a few seconds slower on a fast lap. On the long run I was the fastest in the lobby. Of course I made a stupid move and wrecked.

I kinda got carried away with the stories, but you really have to be consistent in the higher levels. It seems like there is a bigger price for wrecking, spinning, or/and going into the grass

tl:dr - two stories and you are more prone to mistakes in a higher license class.

I find the Mazda a lot of fun, I'm only level C for road but don't think I'd stop racing the Mazda to be honest. It's a lot of fun racing at the limit in it with someone at your level due to the proximity you can.achieve. that's my opinion anyway

I am same way you are, I don't really know how to be a back maker at all. The most I'll do is start from the pits if I know what I'm in for but usually I try to learn to work through traffic while still gaining on the leader or just gaining spots best I can. I would rather be a solid class driver than one who bounces around honestly.

I think that the biggest reason the higher license guys run lower level series is solely because the participation in the higher level series is pathetic compared to say the Mazda cup.

I'm a really good example of this theory. I have a A license with a 4.49 SR rating. My iRating is decent at the 2700 range. I would really like to race the FW31 but, I can never seem to find a lobby with enough participants to get points. So I gave up and only race B and C class series now.

Some guys just love the slower cars. In GT I always preferred the slow "momentum" cars....heck, look at my name and what I race in real life, it's a lot slower than the MX-5. LOL

My favorite car and series is still the Mustang and I'm a B class driver, my average incident per race is 2.0 something for 2012, so I could probably do what I need to do to get an A license, but it didn't matter to me.

Don't know Mac, some guys like speed and power, some like downforce, and guys like me prefer momentum cars with no wings and low power. I think iRacing did the right thing by allowing higher class drivers to compete in the MX-5 Cup. Remember, even if you are an A class driver, it doesn't mean your fast, it just means that your "safe".

I see a lot of drives doing good races whit "inc" of atleast 10 to even 25. Still they don't lose much points on there license. Why do i try to race clean? its easy to get a good SR for the next license.
