I really like doing oval stuff. I really enjoy the indy car racing around the limited ovals that I own. This being said, I have considered doing the Oval series seriously along side my road series that I run. Only problem is, I am only 3 tracks from owning every road course in the sim. I would rather finish that out then move to Ovals. The problem after that is justifying the money to move to full seasons in Oval.I own little to none of all of the tracks and cars. Which would get very expensive. I would rather spend the money on a good desktop instead of running iRacing off of my low performance Macbook pro.

I just got the late model and I really like it, I'm only about 3/10ths off pace.... :sly::lol:, seriously though I might run it this season, but just for fun, I don't have time to meet the 8 week minimum this month. Anyway, What I did/still doing is I finished off the road courses and then when I begin my next buying spree I'll get the popular ovals first, (Bristol, Michigan, Iowa?) And for fun martinsville  I loved that track in the old Nascar games for PS2, I gained 20 positions on the front stretch on the drop of the green  but I'm glad I finished off the road courses first so I can run any race I want on road

I don't know if I've seen Zolder before but the layout shown on the pre-order tab looks familiar, I just can't think of where... If I've seen it.

I really cannot wait to get Zolder. Not a very famous track but, it is so much fun on NFS shift 2. Can't wait to get it on iRacing.

Hey guys. I'm considering talking to my parents about getting a new computer for iRacing, Project CARS, and rFactor 2 when they come out. My current MacBook just will not cut it. So I was looking into a few options today. And, my first choice as of now would definitely be the new AlienWare mini desktop. Living in Japan, I need something that is compact, which that is. My only concerns were the processor and graphics card. I'm on my phone so I'll post the exact specs of what I was looking at later but it was something like an i5 processor with NVidia GeForce 1GB graphics card. What are your opinions on this matter?

It's going to be tough to get one of those micro-desktops to run iRacing any better than your current MacBook Pro really. I'll recommend if you can to build your own, and use one of the Mini-ITX cases and motherboards. I had a system before using this case that ran a i5 processor and a Nvidia 560GTX (you could easily run something better in there too). I used this case, the Silverstone SG-07B, for $200 with a 600watt power supply it really isn't too bad.

It's got a very small footprint, not as small as the Alienware, but for the same or less money you could build a much better system and still have it not take up much space at all.

Compared to my current MacBook Pro with only 4GB of ram and a 256mb graphics card. That alien ware will destroy it...

Oh ok, I wasn't sure which year model MacBook you had.

Still though, if you think you can handle building your own, you can build a better system for less money and it will still be compact. I was looking at the Alienware Mini and it starts at $700 and the one with the i5 is $950.

Using that case I linked before we could build you a system that will DESTROY that Alienware Mini and it will only take up a little more space.

I'm finally running in iracing! Not quickly, not always on the track but it's all setup and working.

Hopefully see some of you on the track (in a week or two when I've practiced).

Excellent! See you on the track! please be a gentleman and wave when you lap me! :dopey:

The specific model is AlienWare X51 that starts at $950.

I really would like to build my own desktop but, I really do not know enough about computers to get a good combination. So, building one is kind of out of the question.

If your not afraid of the actual assembly I'm sure someone would help you buy all the right parts for it.

The assembly is what I'm afraid of :D

I'm not sure if you need a monitor but this a quick build I just came up with.

Thanks for this build. I like that the graphics card is double capacity but, like I said in the post above, the problem for me is the building process :D

It's not that bad. Watch the walkthrough videos on youtube from the link above. Take your time when you build it. Nothing has to be rushed.

Actually it looks really simple! All these years I thought there was alot more to building a computer.

Yeah it is simple. I built a PC in my Networking class and it only took about 3 days to complete the build and have software installed. It was a 55 minute class so it should take about 3 hours.

-I decided to start in the Skip Barber championship. To start whit. So i am going to buy the 8 tracks and the car for the championship. You get 20% discount when you buy 6 tracks or 6 cars. But can you mix cars and tracks. Meaning i get 20% discount for the total of 8 tracks and the car?

-when you don't have auto-billing and your account ends at some point. your acces will be denied. If you buy the game again after some time of inactivity. I asume you still have your tracks and cars you previously bought?

Yeah, you'll get the 20% discount over everything.

Also this is a yes. Once you bought the cars an tracks, there yours as long as your subscribing. If you leave for a while then come back, they're still there for you to use.

Not a bad first week for me. Had a couple of races at Brands with the SM, managed to get a 2nd place. Also raced the HPD at Watkins and actually managed to finish it, didn't think it was going to happen since when I tried it at S1 it was a wreck fest and this fixed setup is way looser than I remember but I actually got another 2nd place with it, though the SOF was pretty low.

Other than that I did some SS races, maybe I'll try a couple more tonight. Just trying to get my oval SR up to 4.0 so I can do some IndyCar races.

whit leaving, i mean a period of time whitout any subscribing. So when my subscribing-period ends today and i don't renew, take a break for 3 months. I can subscribe again whit owning all cars and tracks i previously bought?

Yes sir! You can remain unactive for 30 years and if you decide to come back all the content you own and license level will be there!

And won't you be able to use everything you own offline when unsubscribed?

Edit: ^ you beat me to it
Matty
And won't you be able to use everything you own offline when unsubscribed?

You don't "own" any of it, I think they call it "licensed to you", it's a legal thing, there is no "offline" portion either so when it ends, it ends... Until you repurchase a membership and all items that were "licensed to you" are "relicensed to you" :)

It's been a great day for me, three wins and a 2nd place finish in the rookie Mazda Cup. I'm hoping for another clean race tomorrow so I can push my SR above 4.00 and rank up.

All that practice certainly paid off. 👍

Nice work.

think I'll be getting into a race at 7pm EST in the mazda cup.

I decided I'm going to be going for the grand-am races, I love watching
them in real life so it should be a blast to play.

damn Tommi, nice lol

I was thinking this as well, either Grand Am or the Prototype and GT Challenge. Not really into Open Wheel or anything like that.
