Honestly, I don't like it but it's how some people do things it seems because they can't pass people with skill usually. I only hang back at all if I'm toward the rear because there is alot of brake checking sometimes which can cause you a really crappy restart.

If there is no penatly for it, then it's a legal move, not much can be said about it though. Poor sportsmanship more than anything.

What's your take on this guys? To me is plain cheating! The guy intentionally hangs back to get a jump on the field and takes 4 possitions before the start/finish line before the race even starts:

Does he not get any black flag or anything in the game for doing this?

He does not appear to hang back that far? But then again I do not race the HPDs.
Have you tried posting this in the iRAcing forum? I have seen threads where people state hanging back in ovals is illegal and should be protested. They can give you a better assessment of his start and let you know if you should file a protest (if you have not already done so).

Isnt that overkill for iracing? Whats specs are you running right now?

Well, the computer will also be used for other games, and I would like to get at least 1.5 years of use out of it. At the moment I'm using my MacBook Pro

- 2GHz i7
- 4GB Ram
- AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256mb

It runs well on medium settings but, it gets way too hot when I put it up to max.

I want to get into iRacing especially for practice on my consistency on the track in real life (I'm good in traffic but I have a hard time hitting my points every lap and running consistent lap times). I have read that this game just needs a lot of time to get anything out of it, I mean of course anything is going to need time to get the most out of it. My question is though my schedule is a bit limited, so is it going to take me a while to get going in this game and get up to the point I'm able to run some decent cars and get good races going? If I'm only spending an hour or two a day on it am I going to be able to get anything out of it or am I better off sticking to Race '07?

Hey man, as a real life racing driver myself. I think I can give you some really good feedback about this. As for learning consistency, I don't really find that iRacing helps. In fact, I don't really think iRacing helps much with my real life racing. If you are heading to a track soon that you have never been too before, then iRacing is a lot of help. You can get a general feel of what the track will be like, and can start getting an idea of a line that you would like to run when you get on the track in real life. As for consistency, I've never really felt any racing sim that has given me any sort of help with consistency. I think that you just don't get enough feel with a computer sim to really get into any sort of rythme.

As for consistency, I find that the biggest thing is just finding a rythme. There are two different types of driving styles out there too. Fast but inconsistent, slightly slower and consistent. I fit the 2nd so running 95% speed is fast enough for me to finish well and not have to worry about making a mistake.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I totally agree that loss of seat of the pants feel of a racing game vs real life makes a difference, especially if you've been trained on a track and not a simulator. I will be running some of the tracks iRacing has at some point.

Nope! He can pretty much get away with murder here!

Already protested him right after the race! The guy held up just enough that he could get a huge jump on the field, 4 spots is a huge deal on a track that's pretty much impossible to pass. I'm in the Gulf car and I reacted to the green he had it timed so he would gun it a second before it went green and you can see he blew by as if we where sitting still. On that race no one made a pass without the driver in front going off or spinning out, 4 spots is massive!

What do you guys think of the Nvidia GTX 550 ti? Im going to be purchasing my video card this week and right now its a toss up between that and the Radeon HD 7770. The 550 is on sale for 109 and has a 20 dollar mail in rebate which would make it 89, a real deal if you ask me. The 7770 is on sale for 124 and has a mail in rebate for 15 bucks which makes it 109. Im really leaning towards the 550 because of the price and the fact that its sli ready and i already have an sli bridge. I know the 7770 is slightly better, but not sure if its worth the price difference. Plus the 7770 im looking at isnt crossfire ready.

That's pretty similar to what I just got, xcept fot the video (I went with AMD/ATI). Image quality is surprisingly good, and not just at Zolder.
Although I sometimes get a feeling that track/curb tire marks/dust somehow hang a bit above the surface.

I can get in using that ip. But when using it, the sim doesn't understand it's installed and want to install the sim all over. Guess I be waiting.

Kinda boring because I installed a new Liquid CPU cooler today (Corsair H40) and then had the chance to activate "turbo mode" in the bios. So the system running at 3.9GHz instead of 3.4 and I wanted to test a few things in the sim..

And at idle in windows my cpu is 25 degrees Celsius 32 after 20 minutes in iRacing.. before it went down.
