But I hope, is also the best. As I've found.
Very addictive. And I haven't even run a full season yet

I have spent many days doing every race on the hour from morning to night, and then I'm upset I can't do one more!

It truly is awesome!

Now, I just need to start collecting tracks and cars!

Yes, yes. Many thanks! Everyone here has been very helpful!

Now I just need to plan out everything I want to buy this year! (iRacing is truly the most expensive thing I've come across xD)

Just don't buy the VW Jetta.

I bought it to use for practice at Loudon since I have a race there this weekend (in real life), and my real race car is a FWD VW. First off it uses the paddle shifters, secondly it just plain sucks. My real race car in theory is a POS compared to it, but it drives way better than that heap. I ended up using the Miata to practice instead, it actually felt more like my real car, and drove more like it.

What a waste of 12 bucks

Thanks for the heads up! Ill cross that off the list!

So is the season already over? Or will it end at the usual time the tracks usually change over for the week? I believe thats 8 PM Eastern, 12 AM GMT.

Thank you!

How would you all recommend going through the oval D license (without spending much money)

You can get to B-class oval without spending a penny.

Do the rookie Streetstocks until your get to D-class SR4.0, then do 4 C-class Streetstocks, to fast track to C-class, then at the end of the season if your still above C-class SR3.0 you'll get promoted to B-class.

Just look for the weeks the C-class Streetstock is on the free tracks. (6/12 weeks).

Hope that helps, even if its a bit too late this season.

I'm thinking up til the switch over like usual but then again the Grand AM was the first series I entered.

Well, just wait until you meet the real world of racing and you'll be shocked.

And left888, is the Grand Am Series worth buying/entering?

Seems like good advice. Thanks Mahnegold.

FYI, NL =/= Germany??

I just began to like you :grumpy:

Just a German who lives in NL :sly:

Why? I'm seriously thinking to go live across the border. I can buy big houses and everything from my salary but can't buy anything here. WHY? You must not have to pay taxes or something... Oh and don't forget cars. They are way cheaper!

I was saying so, because I understood the latest iRacing News that way. Here is the original text from the iRacing site:

"Certainly the week of October 23-29 promises to be lucky for iRacers looking to move-up the license ladder in time for 2012 Season 4. Everyone from Rookie to Class B can boost their ratings in the Week 13 Street Stock Challenge (ovals) and SpecRacer Ford Challenge (road) series. The Street Stock Challenge features the JR Motorsports Street Stock car at Thompson, South Boston, Lanier, Charlotte (both the Legends and the 1.5 mile speedway), Oxford Plains and USA International. Road racers can try to nab a higher license in the SRF at Okayama (long and short), Charlotte (road), Laguna Seca, Summit Point – Jefferson Reverse (aka nosreffeJ) - and Lime Rock.

Both are official series, with Safety Ratings and iRatings in effect, so competitors have a one last chance to increase their license ratings before the official license promotions for Season 4 are finalized at week’s end. Likewise, rookies who have yet to complete the category-specific minimum participation requirements for graduation to a D license (two official races or four time trials in each category) can do so in Week 13."

I highlighted the parts, which let me assume that I can fulfill my MPR to move from D class to C class during week 13.

Notice how bellow your second highlight it says "Likewise, rookies who have yet to complete the category-specific minimum participation requirements for graduation to a D license (two official races or four time trials in each category) can do so in Week 13."
Yes you can still repair/harvest SR, but all Week 13 series are Rookie licensed series wich means that if your MPR is not met for anything higher than Rookie Week 13 won't help you advance.

Grand Am is awesome, clean racing and very competitive people making it fun and hard. You really have to be on top form to do good. Also fun when the grid have a lot of stangs. But that doesn't happen very often.

Also if you want to race for the championship leaderboard you would have to look for high SOF races. In Europe that happens mostly on Sunday as the better drivers don't race during the week, they practice. I see you're from the UK and that's within one hour from here and I might race the same races you do ;)

In the beginning of season 3 I had no problem finding races that went official, but to be very honest the last 3-4 races I did (I didn't race the last one) have been harder to find the races. But when I find the race I always enjoy it very much.

If you avoid a guy called Jesse Mach you have great races. If you meet this guy you're "lucky", because his more invisible during the race than visible. He ruined my race once, but I added him to my studied list and I stay away from him. I once spectated him and counted his blink during one lap of Road America and he blinked 58 times. The fact that he isn't kicked from the racing room annoy me. Because racing him is far from racing, more of a guess where he pop up game!! And iRacing call them self Motorsport Simulation, Invisible cars doesn't simulate anything in Motorsport.

All in all I can recommend Grand Am, you will find a few bad apples everywhere, but all in all Grand Am is a place where you don't drown in them 👍

Hope to see you next season :dunce:

Thanks, it seems I will get it after all. I just went on the Grand Am Premier Series Thread and straight away got a warm welcome and somebody saying 'Hope to see you on the grid'. It seems to have a nice little atmosphere and as I am a fan of the Grand Am Series in real life it is really attracting. Just a shame there is no Corvette DP :).

I'm guessing you race in the Premier Series?

Thanks for clarification! So I hoped for a kind of "joker" in week 13, but I was wrong...

Not this season, I plan to do it next season. But I started my iRacing career late june this year and when I got my B-Licence I was just to late for the penultimate race of the season so it was only the last one and I decided I just wait until next season.

But I've been racing in the "normal" series this season and will do so in season 4 also. Season 4 for me will be a bit on and off as I'm in a middle of some renovations to my house. And soon it's my office where I have my racing rig. So when I'm to tierd to race I also will be without a place to race for two weeks. But when I'm done I increased the value of my house and the pleasure of living here ;)

Ahh right. Well I hope to see you around in the standard and premier series next season. Hopefully we will have some good races together.

A quick question for the Oval racers out there...
I was lucky enough to get my first pole for the Street Stock yesterday, then realised I didn't know what I was doing  Are you supposed to wait for the green light to step on it, or as pole sitter can I go for it as soon as the pace car is clear ?
Probably not going to be getting too many Oval poles but would be good to know just in case it happens again and don't really want to p*ss off the Oval regulars

Was just doing some practice laps at Suzuka west in the caddy. The car handles pretty good there, could maybe make for some good week 13 racing. Of course that depends on how others drive there. Its a tight track so could possibly be a wreck fest as well. Im gonna give it a try and see how things go otherwise Ill need to buy Zolder to get some racing in and wasnt really wanting to spend any money on iracing this week.

Currently waiting for the schedule to flip over so i can race something interesting. Im tired of the Nvidia Cup, but most of the time its the only series i have the tracks for. I havent raced in a week i think, not since the GTC was @ Okayama long. I really wanna do the Mustang and try some new oval cars like the late model or modified. Once my bills are paid this upcoming month ill see if i can get some DLC cause i need it.

I'm pretty stoked about Zolder and the GTC cars! The smaller cars are a blast arrount that track!

I want to run this by other people because it kind of rubbed me wrong during a race but with a broken mic I couldn't comment (I try not to type during it either).

Class B Impala COT at Michigan.

We were all racing close and pretty hard from about 6-13th give or take my memory. You get runs there alot and sometimes it will put up 3 wide but one guy was complaining about people racing too hard and going 3 wide. He slowed up from that tight group because we were all swapping positions and didn't have issues. I know 3 wide makes people nervous which it does me too but normally everyone is clean so why not just keep racing and not complain. It's almost like sometimes people expect others to not race hard for spots and either give it to them or just ride behind. I will if I know I can't make a clean pass or something but I will race you hard and try to get you to open up a window to make a pass.

It just kind of gets on my nervous when guys complain about 3 wide (it wasn't the first lap T1 either more like lap 10-15).

Has anyone that has bought items, been charged weirdly?

I got 3 items:

Mustang
Daytona new
Daytona old

I had 15 dollars of credit, and got the 10% discount for 3 items. My mom came down telling me I got charged 14.95 three times! Turns out, that's what they charged me.

Any thoughts of what to do?

Never had any problems, e-mail custumer service and they'll take care of any mistakes!

this looks like a pretty boring wk13, the SRF is pretty much the only thing worth doing, I miss the LM, SS, and Legend at Road America

Can't believe I actually just tried to get all of my points revoked from my first win in our league.

Hell no!! Just did the Caddy at suzuka and had a blast!! Surprisingly clean and close race!! The first 10 laps where a train of cars one behind the other trough the whole track!! I managed to get to the lead from 10th place, then ran had to pit right after... Came back out to take 5th! Awesome fun!

D'oh!!!
Why would you do that!!

That does sound fun, too bad I'm going to miss 2 more weeks of iRacing since I have an SAT to study for

And I find it very true, for some reason I feel that I'm in the "pro" stage where I'm not as fast as I should be but I try very hard to "keep it between the lines" and it's getting monotonous but still addicting. I don't know if that's just because I haven't done an official race in about 2 1/2 months or what. I just wish I had the time to practice for a week and race on the weekend

The new voice chat and spotter functionality for this next build sounds like it's going to be pretty cool! Especially for leagues with team racing.
