Hell no!! Just did the Caddy at suzuka and had a blast!! Surprisingly clean and close race!! The first 10 laps where a train of cars one behind the other trough the whole track!! I managed to get to the lead from 10th place, then ran had to pit right after... Came back out to take 5th! Awesome fun!

D'oh!!!
Why would you do that!!

That race ended with two green flag laps following a caution. I was in third place at that restart behind Stefan Overgaard (1st) and Russell Klaesson (2nd, whom you may remember was the whiny guy who quit our team after the awesome finish at Homestead). Very crowded restart, the three of us actually moved over to the right side of the track (Road America) because that's where the opening was. Braking zone of turn 1, I'm behind Russell and he's being a Mustang. Mustang brakes, Russell brakes, I brake. I reacted just momentarily too late, gave Russell a light hit that send him across the curb on the inside, resulting in a slow down penalty. He regains control at the exit of the turn, moves to the right and nails the brakes. I barely miss him. The idiot collects about half the field, which was already 3-wide and he made it 4-wide.

I wasn't even going to pass him then because I had hit him. Today in the after race thread he posted this:

I qualified as well as I wanted. Given the draft factor of racing here, I felt that 4th was enough to keep me in the front pack, and I was right. After the few laps, James and I had pulled about a 4 second gap to third, and I started poking my nose past him but couldn't make it stick cleanly. Each attempt cost us over a second, so I decided to stay in line about .5 second behind him and just tick off clean laps. He eventually made a mistake and let me lead until the first yellow.
I made a good pit stop, and clean restart. From there, I knew everyone in front of me still had another stop in their future, so I passed when I could do so with minimal risk, saved some fuel, and found myself back in the lead with 0 incidents to that point of the race. Ayrton, that was great, clean racing we had, and probably the highlight of my race.
Then came Trace. For the life of me, I can't understand how you could think that passing the other class leaders, who were nose to tail, in a braking zone. After being spun I got a netcode tap on the nose, bending my wheel slightly and my re-entry to the track didn't work, putting me back even further. My apologies for the scare, Eric.

The next lap, Richard decided he was clear, and turned himself on my nose. By the way, once your spotter has said "Right Side", the other car is there until he says, "Clear". If that is in your blind spot, please trust your spotters judgement. I don't know if iRacing's damage model bent my wheel back, but after that contact my car felt pretty good. Richard, thanks for the toe adjustment
Time to put my head down and get to work. Somehow, I don't know how, I managed to get back to 2nd for the 2 lap shootout at the end.
Eric must have thought the lap down Mustang in front of me could take turn 1 at full speed, and I got tapped from behind. This pitched me sideways, I cut the turn 1 curb, which awarded me a Slow Down. I moved completely to the right and flashed my brake lights to let the car behind me know that I was slowing down. This slowdown caused an accordian effect, which resulted in the debacle that we all saw.

For the third race this season I have been knocked off the podium on a restart lap, by being hit from behind in a braking zone, by the car that went on to win the race. Congratulations Eric! JPM would be proud of the way you managed to get the full benefit from your "accident"

Here is a tidbit of racecraft that I have learned that may help others: If you're between two cars at the end of the straight, lift a little early and be ready to brake a little more gradually, over a slightly longer zone. This gives you more margin for error in avoiding the car ahead of you, alerts the driver behind you that he's entering the brake zone (earlier than he would if he was by himself), and gives him a margin for error because he's not closing on you as rapidly as he will if you brake hard and suddenly.

Trace's quote from above sums up my feelings very well: I have seen more incidents caused by lack of respect than anything this season. We're all supposed to be working together, and we're not here to show how good any one of us may be, we're here to show good online racing can be.

You don't know how much I want to turn him around in the next race.

A quick question for the Oval racers out there...
I was lucky enough to get my first pole for the Street Stock yesterday, then realised I didn't know what I was doing  Are you supposed to wait for the green light to step on it, or as pole sitter can I go for it as soon as the pace car is clear ?
Probably not going to be getting too many Oval poles but would be good to know just in case it happens again and don't really want to p*ss off the Oval regulars

Once the pace car pulls off the leader starts the race. You can go whenever you like.

I want to run this by other people because it kind of rubbed me wrong during a race but with a broken mic I couldn't comment (I try not to type during it either).

Class B Impala COT at Michigan.

We were all racing close and pretty hard from about 6-13th give or take my memory. You get runs there alot and sometimes it will put up 3 wide but one guy was complaining about people racing too hard and going 3 wide. He slowed up from that tight group because we were all swapping positions and didn't have issues. I know 3 wide makes people nervous which it does me too but normally everyone is clean so why not just keep racing and not complain. It's almost like sometimes people expect others to not race hard for spots and either give it to them or just ride behind. I will if I know I can't make a clean pass or something but I will race you hard and try to get you to open up a window to make a pass.

It just kind of gets on my nervous when guys complain about 3 wide (it wasn't the first lap T1 either more like lap 10-15).

It's just ones of those racing deals really. Don't really think either of you were in the wrong. Some people just don't like to be raced hard and will complain. Even though you knew you had it lot of the times, probably 50% or more, when people take in 3 wide it ends up in a crash. So he probably figured he was going to get crashed. I wouldn't worry about it your going to come across people like that.

Man that guy sounds like a damn primadonna! Just ignore him!

He was in my Petit LeMans split in an HPD as well. Qualified a couple tenths faster, one grid spot ahead, but started in the pits. I saw him make some contact with a GT car and heard him bitching many times at others.

There's got to be a common factor with why cars just keep hitting him...hmmm.

And with me rear ending him at Road America, there's only ONE MX5 that I wouldn't have rear ended in that case. Ayrton. And only because I won't race him for position if he's ahead.

Cheers, thought that was the case, wasn't sure if there were different rules for ovals and it seems a lot of people like to wait for the lights which made me doubt myself.

After quite narrowly avoiding flipping my beloved Jetta at New Hampshire road course, I'd like to warn: Stay away from the curb upon re-entering the oval section.

 Or, just be MrMelancholy, and smash your car to pieces in a test session, for the replay lulz. :)

I could see the issue on lap 1 or at a tight track but Michigan is pretty wide. The runs you get there sometimes happen faster than you think like coming out of a turn. I wasn't the one who went 3 wide but was behind it, and that whole pack was about 6 or so cars battling and one guy started slowing up more so to pass him while racing hard you can't just wait around or you will be left there.

I managed to win both the Mustang Challenge and the inRacing News Challenge (Solstice) overall this season, as well as 2nd place in the Solstice and MX-5 in the Grand Touring Cup. Not to mention 3rd in Grand-Am in the Mustang, and 3rd in GT Challenge in the Vette(only did one race though). All was in the rookie division, but I'm still very proud of it. I'm now in Division 4 in Road, Division 5 in Oval.

Wow, a lot of awesome stuff in the works there!

I wanna renew my subscription but it's now fun using a laptop that overheats and shuts down on low graphics settings in the middle of a race. I better save money for a decent computer. :indiff:

Concerning the chance of night versions added, my subscription expired a few weeks ago, so I don't have access to the forums. Any talk on which tracks are being referred to?

Thanks.

2.4?? Driver swaps are also coming let's do a full on 24 hours!!

Edit for some Pettit LeMans awesomeness:

Oh man I had a horrible race on the third split, managed to salvage a 6th place from 7th in the grid and dropping to dead last on the second lap after beign punted off. At one point I got back to 4th but after beign put in the wall and an 11 minute stop came out in 7th and got to 6th till the finish.
Our split was full of morons in HPDs, so you get an idea how bad they were out of 21 only 11 HPDs finished.

Hopefully Daytona Road Course will be one that has a Day to night option.

Rolex 2.4 Hours will be great if it is included.

Yes it would! I wish they would do this race like earlier that week or weekend before though because the first year I'm on Iracing is same year I'm also heading to the race itself.

On a totally seperate note...I am having all sorts of trouble with my DFGT wheel as of late with FFB issues (which I am assuming) and not sure where to start to hunt down to fix it. I don't really want to lose the setups from Iracing (which I can just move them out).

Week 13 is back.. Do any of you guys even race during Week 13?

Hell yeah! I did 3 races last night and had a blast!! Raced the Caddy, the MX5 and the most boring car in the unverse too(Jetta)!

Week 13 is back.. Do any of you guys even race during Week 13?

I was so bored, I bought Zolder, got in the MX-5 and started racing. Next thing you know, crashes all over the place and I just managed to go through. I was doing pretty well, this happened:

My first time that I got a bit mad.. :ouch: Oh well. Had a bit of damage but managed second...

Got it:

:)

There was this French guy in second giving me a really hard time during the weekend though.

I was a few points ahead of him on Friday night, then on Saturday night I checked the scores and he'd passed me by one point. I called a friend to race with me so I could get a higher SOF, got second place I think and passed the French dude by 9 points.

On Sunday when I go check the scores again he did two more races and managed to get ahead of me by 6 points! So I decide to have one last race to try to get ahead of him one more time. Luckly I got a pretty strong SOF, above 3k, and managed to get 3rd place. Scored 175 points and passed the guy again. Then I think he gave up.

It was pretty fun though, I want to send him a message to congratulate him and tell him the trouble put me through. :)

First race at okayama full....

Charlotte was a good bit of fun, LOTS of idiots....But what can ya do?

So now I have to play some MAJOR catch-up with my SR...

@Carlos, I never do official racing on Week 13 for that very reason!

Don't race official races on Week 13. Unless you really need it to get your license up, or to avoid it from going down.

I guess I needed to learn this the hard way.

Would've had a perfect race at Charlotte, but we got a call that a friend had passed (he lived in Charlotte...)

And I thought my mom passed out so I just dropped everything and went over.

...still finished 4th....

@Carlos, I never do official racing on Week 13 for that very reason!

Don't think it was official because there were no points lost or gained, nobody did. They were all A licensed too! They drove like crap.

Sad thing is, I got the whole week free from work and now I can't do fun races :ouch:

My first time that I got a bit mad.. :ouch: Oh well. Had a bit of damage but managed second...

You did a good job at keeping the car out of major damage and only clipping the wall, but that purple car made sure to make you pit. Id be upset too
