My personal choice on iRacing will always be the "safer more consistent setup", specially on a race as long as this one!

I probably shouldn't have waited until the 8:30 session tonight to qualify...

It's lone qualifying so you'll be ok, just get a solid lap in the bank before going all out for the fast lap!

Depending what progress I make, I'll be tending to go with the safer set. If you're qualifying with a time you can attain with that setup you should still be in a competitive split. There's a LOT of time to screw up here, and in many places you could write off the car and be done.

im jonzing!, all my sim equipment is packed up for the move. of all the weeks! gonna be watching you all in ghost for a good race

I need some opinions. I have a few setups for the DP tonight, one is really quick and I can set fast times in it, but it can be a bit unforgiving, especially on bumps. The other one I have is more stable and easier to drive but about a second slower per lap. I tried combing the two of them, running the gearing from the first and everything else from the second. I'm about .300-.400 slower on average, but it's much more forgiving. Is it a good idea to go with my "modified" setup during the race and sacrifice a few tenths for a stable and fast car, or gain those tenths back but risk spinning easier, etc?

Definitely go with the safe set. In 160 minutes I figure you're pretty much guaranteed to have one or more moments, and if you clip a wall it's going to cost you a lot more than you'll lose.

Also, you're likely to spend a substantial portion of the race in traffic, not running at absolute top speed. The sacrifice is likely to not be as big as you might have thought.

Eric.

I can run around the same times yes, a little slower. I figured it's a long race so consistency is more important than outright speed.

Definitely!
T minus 15 minutes and 500 racers registered!! This is gonna be EPIC!!

Oh that anxious feeling before a big race... God I love iRacing!!

Yup, nerves aplenty here too. I'm hoping to survive the entire race, a finish would be like a win for me, as this is more than twice as long as my longest race in iRacing. (The Roar)

I've also never done a race with pitstops, so I'm really looking forward to it. Good luck everybody!

Man, I'm just too dang tired to race tonight. I'll see you all at the race tomorrow! I may watch some of you guys race tonight :)

I got "Your receive throughput fell to an unacceptable level" on my 3rd lap of qualifying. I think my time was 1:46.6, if it even recorded it. Oh well. I'll just sit back and enjoy the race. This will be my first race with required pit stops as well.

Good point. If I choose to actually run this race, (tomorrow) I'll be a noob at pit stops, and will likely pit out-of-sequence, just to avoid bumping any other cars.

So if i'm getting this right, this 'subscription" is for ALL content or just online racing activities and new content? After your trial or subscription length is over , no more iracing on your comp at all?!!! :scared:

Sub is just for getting online them comes the tracks/cars coming in at 15/11 dollars each. (its well over 500 dollars if you bought everything with a years sub)

And yes when sub is out no more racing.

Oops, "No passing before start/finish line." The guys on the outside had no warning that there was a guy in the middle. Guy in middle got squished. Obviously racing incident caused by impatience.

This is why I'm starting from the pits.

I know we get a reset, but this is a 160 minute race and I'm not going to let some impatient douche rob me of my reset at the very start of the race.

Site down... Roush?? Sneezing again???

Actually Jav I did sneeze while making my flight plan this morning about that time.......
Didn't you post a mclaren setup a few days ago Jav? I can't find it, do you have a link back to that post

And tyrgaus, the brake pedal travel is short but it's measured by pressure. When you calibrate it in iRacing, how hard you press down is full braking, when you stop not when the pedal stops. However, beware more pressure means more fatigue (play around with it in test mode calibrating it and you'll see how it works) I stop just past travel stop, the loadcell continues to sense the level of pressure even after pedal travel stops. You also can change your preload on the damper, just don't unscrew the barrel by accident, mine's about halfway down the threads

Anybody figure out the new TP? it opens and closes instantly, the first time it opened and I set a few settings but it's not doing anything anymore just closing as soon as it opens

Just got finished with my race in the 3rd split. Finished 4th after starting in the pits. The top 4 were just too quick for me the last stint. I could not seem to find speed. I was in 2nd during my second stint though.

What a fantastic race, so much fun and a tough one too. Lets see, I started 16th out of 25, within the first few laps I was up to 10th. About a half hour in running in 8th, 7th spins out avoiding a slow Mclaren and collects me and I get a meatball flag and have to make an unscheduled pit stop. I come out in 20th, claw my way back up to 14th and pit for fuel and tires. I come out in 16th and again claw my way up to 7th and come in on lap 64 for tires and fuel. I come out in 9th and from there continue to pick people off eventually getting into 3rd in the final 10 minutes. Great race for me! How'd everyone else do? I probably would have been in contention for the win if I didn't get tagged, but that's racing. Went with the stable setup but the gearing was a bit off and I constantly got passed in the straights :P
