Fun stuff! I got 3rd in split 20. The first place McLaren was just fast. He ended up lapping the rest of the field. I should've beat the 2nd place guy, but I didn't realize that it didn't automatically give you a full tank when you pit, so I had to pit an extra time. :/

Y'all did it in 2 stops, right?

Went with the stable setup but the gearing was a bit off and I constantly got passed in the straights :P

Wait. You can change the gearing on the McLaren?

Sounds like you had a good race though. What sort of lap times were everyones split's running? Split 3 was running mid 45's on full fuel and high 44's with low fuel.

Do they give away certificates to the top 3 in every split? I heard they did..

I was in the DP ;)

Doh! :dunce: lol

Anybody notice a difference with the NNNNTM and the steering model? I felt like it is a step in the right direction. Going to hold off on saying yay or nay though.

Also... THAT NOISE. The cars sound SOOOOOO much better with the gearshift wobble now.

I hate myself!
I took a huge risk on the start and passed like 6 DPs wich gave me a good 4 second lead wich I mantained for the most part. Had 1 guy come up and challenge me, he made an awesome pass into the busstop but I got him back into T1. Then he dropped back with traffic and was never again a factor. I had a 12 secon lead to second place. Wich on the last stop was 5 seconds.
Led 66 laps from the start only to let the preassure get to me when 2 DPs caught me going into the oval. I used a bit too much curb and spun out. Second got by and mantained a 4 second lead the rest of the race. At the end I threw my best lap at it but ended up 3 seconds behind him in second...

Well, it sounds like everyone else had a good race. Congrats guys!

My race started okay, I was up to 5th early on before spinning at the bus stop, which sent me back to 10th. I fought my way back through the feild to 5th after the 1st pitstop. I gained a place and was running 4th with a comfortable gap after the 2nd pitstop, when I made a stupid mistake with 30mins remaining and got on the gas too early in T1, and hit the wall hard. I had 6 mins of repairs, and finished 12th. The race was too long for me, I wasn't within 10 seconds of anybody I was battling after the 1st pitstop, so I found it difficult to keep my concentration.

The only bright spot was that I led for a few laps during the pitstops, but I never had the pace to really challenge for the win.

Race is finished. Was in the 3rd split for the DP's. Started 24th out of 25 total DP's. I was happy to see the checkered and finished the race off in 12th. Can't complain too much, but at the same time I can. So here goes:
-Real cautious start by all DP's. This is good.
-Lap 3 I start pushing hard once every got sorted out. Currently 25th.
-By the 45 minute mark I'm all the up to 10th place and closing in. Don't know why, but my race pace is always better than my quali pace.
-50 minutes in a DP is off on the grass going toward the first right hairpin after pit exit. He hits my right side while entering the track. To my surprise not much damage and car drives fine. Fell back to 12th.
-A few laps later, I'm closing back in on 10th and 11th. Going into the bus stop the 11th place car loses it. I was only .3 back and committed to the turn already. Got damage, but car drove fine. Guess what? Got the meatball flag so there goes my free fix. Absolutely hate it when you get the meatball flag and car drives fine.
-Come back out of pits in 21st. Once again, making up time and marching forward. I'd say about mid race, I'm coming up on a McLaren entering the right hairpin before the left turn back onto Nascar 1. The 2nd place DP is behind me(I'm a lap down) and smashes into me like I wasn't there.
-I drive around a few laps surprised that the collision didn't affect the handling, but my top speed is down 8 to 9mph.:(
-I pit for the almost 2 minute repair and come back out in 20th. Car drives fine but was still a bit down on speed and losing a second per lap to my normal pace.
-I grind out the last hour an a half and get to 12th with other's misfortune.

So, not too bad, but pretty eventful and had so much more potential for possibly a top 5. Maybe I shouldn't have pushed so hard, but at the same time none of those incidents could've been avoided. Just wrong place at the wrong time.

Good race though and looking forward to tomorrow's race. Think I might give the McLaren a go tomorrow.

Go get them tiger! I expect only a win from you now.
I hate myself! I suck!

Actually Jav I did sneeze while making my flight plan this morning about that time.......
Didn't you post a mclaren setup a few days ago Jav? I can't find it, do you have a link back to that post
I believe this is the one:

Yes sir they do! They'll post them up next week on the announcements forum.

Oh man I loved the car! It ran great the whole race, it did exactly what I wanted it to do the whole way! No crazy spinning in or anything! Just a pure predictable race car all race long! And that sexy sexy sound on the shift to 5th and 6th!! WOW!!

Oh ya, the DP sounds great when shifting also. Love that exhaust sound when the transmission gears are engaging.

Damn! I love that sound!! Can't wait to try out the C6.R!! They are going to update the sound again for that car and a few others...

What sort of Q times have you guys had in the DP? I just set a 1'38 on a race setup I modified from the forum. Oddly enough, it has zero rear camber. Well, 0 on the left rear and -0.3 on the right rear. A different setup I've had some success with has -1.1 at the rear. Experimenting with mixing them...

I decided to drive the Ford GT before I went to bed. I think I might like it more than the McLaren. Such an improvement!

Now I have no idea what I'm driving this season.

Anyone give the Ford GT a go yet? Went into open practice on Suzuka in it, it's much more predictable, but still a challenging drive. They did a great job on it (and this whole new build/update) in my opinion.

Thanks Jav

That Falcon is so hard to drive straight at Suzuka it's insane, in 30 mins I made it to the chicane before the straight :guilty:

My 2.4 tonight was fun but had a crappy result. It was pretty cool me and Jav were in the same split, split 5. I also knew 3 other guys driving DP's, 2 of them raced in a oval league I raced in for a while. Kinda crazy out of over 1000 people racing and over 20 splits I end up racing with 4 other people I knew .

I was in the split I figured I would be in and I started last like I wanted to so I could take it easy on the start. Lucked out on that. We had a tight grid with 17 mclarens and the time between pole and me in dead last was only 2 tenths. I took it easy at the beginning and layed back. First couple laps had a couple crash out. I started to get on the back of the 8th-12th or so group when the DP's started to catch us. On lap 15 one of the guys I knew from the league in a DP crashed into the back of another DP in turn 1 and when I tried to go around I got collected 👎. Worst part was the guy that caused the crash has crashed into me in league races and others and ended up getting kicked out for crashing people so much. It's like there's a magnet on mine and his car because he always causing me to crash no matter where I go.

After that I had to lip back to the pits to get the quick repair. I was already pretty far back since I hung back at the start so with the pit stop I went a lap down and screwed up my pit strategy. I got up as far as 9th during the middle stint but I had to pit again since I was off sequence. Later in the race with a hour to go I was 11th I think and had a crash in turn one hitting the inside wall and going up on 2 wheels. Funny thing was I only got a 0x, but got bad damage. Car was getting hard to drive because I didn't take tires like an idiot on one of my stop so by then they were pretty old. had to pit and get repairs. Got them fixed and went back out for the last 50 mins and ended up finishing 12th. I wasn't planning on doing the other one tomorrow, but I am now since it was fun tonight and I want to get a better result now I know what to do for pit strategy. Hopefully better luck tomorrow! 👍

I guess I got lucky on our split Mad, I saw you dropped down with an early pitstop and there was also another guy I know in the split who used to race in the same club I did a few years ago, he also got knocked out way too early on the race.
I ran a huge risk at the start passing 6 DPs into the hairpin, but it did pay out big time as I entered the oval with a 4 second lead and had an empty track in front of me. For the first stint!

Surprised not everyone is discussing how the 2.4 race went? Im curious to know how every did on here.

Also im gonna try to squeeze in tomorrows race, the race is supposed to end 20 minutes before i go in to work. I might be 5-10 minutes late but oh well, im not gonna be there much longer once i graduate in march. I picked up the Mclaren a few hours ago and ran some laps to get used to the car, aside from the weird shifting issue it is a pure joy to drive. Ill be practicing a lot tomorrow in hopes i can find my groove with this thing.

Nope, and I guess we have to wait a bit

There are still a couple of bugs we found that need fixing in the new program. If you want a more reliable experience, the old Downloader might be best for now. Available at the bottom of the page here: http://www.tradingpaints.com/page/Download -- sorry, everyone, and thanks for the patience!

The McLaren still needs help. The axle feels like a live axle... :yuck: Downshifting, upshifting, I don't care, it's poor.

Bump up the diff preload to around 85-100 and I bet your opinion will change!

Kevin, make sure the shift aids are disabled in your car!

Really? I had to run at 9, to keep the car stable on turn-in. Darn, that's not going to be easy.

Now, like $300 ish later, I'm regretting ever thinking of iRacing. I actually prefer Race '07 and GT5 again now...

I guess I am going to stay up for the 4AM start time on the second race. Had to go and buy a small seat cushion for my wooden stool chair. My buttocks was livid with me beginning after the first pit stop, all the way too tge finish lol. I have a feeling the second time around will not go as well. European primetime. Most Europeans are great to race against but, I'd say around 5% think they are a F1 driver and usually cause troubles. We shall see how it goes though!

Any other 2012 Season 4 Champions (or division champions, like me?) on GTP?

Yes there is, Joey won the 2012 S4 Division 4 Race Championship in GT Challenge.

Might I add aswell that Time Trial Championships are much easier to get, especially in divisions, partly because nobody runs them so you always end up being in a session by yourself.

And I also got 2nd place in the Division 6 Grand AM Championship, even though I only run 6 Weeks.
