Now I'm excited for his reaction on the next show!

(You know it's going to be worthwhile to see if he still thinks he's right.)

So I can get a road promotion now! Should I buy any tracks or cars to make the most of it? Bearing in mind it's from rookie to D I think.

What series are you wanting to do? Because that will have an impact on whether to buy content or not. Sadly, with the new schedules you will have to buy a lot of content to do a D class series. I would stick with the Inracing news challenge, and do Grand touring cup races when they go to free tracks. Then you can be promoted to C liscence, where you can drive almost every car. If this were last season I would recomend GTC or the SRF, because you would have been able to do 4 weeks in each with no extra content. Not anymore though. :(

Will there be a Proto/GT race tomorrow? I have homework now and can't make a race :( I really want to race at least once at Watkins Glen!

Jav
Darin's response to this whole thing blowing up in his face.....
What a complete douche! Any respect I had left for this guy is now completely gone! Already unsubscribed from the show.

Cheers for posting that Jav, I don't visit their forums.
He obviously hasn't heard the saying 'lead by example'.
A simply apology would've gone a long way to making things right (I don't mean about driving standards but the very public outburst), looks like it might be too late to salvage any respect now :grumpy:

Can someone please explain (or provide a link to an explanation) a good way to upload iRacing replays to youtube?
A few months back I made an attempt at doing it using fraps, windows movie make, and the best instructions I could dig up. The results were massively bloated files (around 1 GB for a minute or so) with grainy video.

Every once in a while something cool happens that i wouldn't mind sharing here. I don't mind paying a few bucks (~$30ish) for software if need be.

Kinda last minute. Next week the Racing League Endurance Series starts.
We are still looking for Ford GT drivers.
There will be ten races running two hours and three hour races every second week. We have got 32 Riley and 32 McLaren drivers and 19 Ford GT drivers so we are looking for more FGT drivers. I know there are a couple of people here driving the Ford so I urge you to check out the leage. I belive it is going to be awesome! :D

You have to do a PQ time on eather wednesday or friday to be able to compete on saturday. All races start at 20:00 -GMT.

Hope there is some interest! Its gone be fun! :D

I've never really been a fan of ISR.
They always seem biased and I get the sense that they think they're above everyone else.
I literally started laughing out loud when Darin started going on that rant.

I use fraps , capture at 40fps and half size. This is still a huge file though. I then convert those clips using Handbrake (google it , it's free and works well.)

In Handbrake I convert to mp4 and reduce the clips to 6000kbps. This makes the files much smaller but still decent quality.

From there I use Windows movie maker and save "for computer" when done. That saves them at approx 40mb per minute of video. I upload that to Youtube which probably reduces the file size again. The result is acceptable quality IMO. Not brilliant..... but acceptable :)

I'm up for suggestions of better capture software too. Fraps works okay but its not ideal with the mammoth file sizes.....and the odd stutter @1:31

I prefer Vimeo over YouTube.
MUCH faster uploads.

Ran my first Star Mazda race, I lost .29 SR but dang it was a ton of fun, Spa is incredibly difficult in a pack when someone starts spinning
afterwards I added 1 PSI to the fronts and .5 to the rear and I dropped half a second, I'm now below the 2:20 mark on race fuel (2:19.8).
It started out as a setup from Mike Buckroff that he was working on but I've made small changes to a lot of things.

I use msi afterburner for video capture. It's free and I already use it for overclocking. I use iMovie for editing after that. Just because that's what I have.

Thanks for the detailed guide! I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Spa is a really tough track to start with. If you're really pushing for a good result, it's incredibly difficult not to lose SR since a number of spots give you a 1X for simply putting your outside tire over the curbing.

The drafting was a bit strong, but it was a lot of fun nonetheless. Think you'll keep racing it?

iMovie is only for Mac, correct? Win 7 here, so I'll have to pass on that process. Thanks though.

Will MSI Afterburner work with a Gigabyte graphics card or just MSI cards ?

Oh ya, it was a blast. I knew the 1x were going to be tough heading in to it. Most of the time I often just practice for days and never feel up to par to race but this time I really wanted to race so I did, after a friday and saturday night's worth practice. That being said it was probably my first official race in a few months because I never have the time to practice enough.

The draft is pretty strong but not extremely strong. Without it I would top out down the straight at 152/3 and with it I would be at 155. I was able to get a good run out of Eau Rouge and sling shot into the chicane just in time (what is that S actually called after Eau Rouge?) without overshooting. I got a little front end damage between lap 1 and lap 4 from a combination of people chopping and close racing incidents in general when people start slowing up for guys spinning but I didn't get affected too much. Started 15th finished 11th

I wish I could make the whole season but I highly doubt I could but I'm definitely going to try

iMovie is for mac but msi afterburner is for win 7. Once you get the video captured through afterburner, you can use whatever you want to edit it.

Yes, msi afterburner works on non MSI cards. My card is from XFX.

I had no idea MSI afterburner had that function. Thanks for the suggestion 👍 I'm going to give it a try. It works with my Nvidia card.

I normally use Replay Video Capture (about 40$) for video capture and it's ok. Very limited features though - in a nice and simple sort of way.

If it helps in any sort of way I use Fraps and Magix Movie Edit Pro for my Minecraft series on YouTube and they seem to do the job fairly well. Just on iRacing Fraps seems to lag a bit on 1080p.

Thoughts on this guys? I'm in the red/green car. It was a nice pass, but it was posted in the iRacing forums under "Risky Pass" and the guy is proud of it. Myself and the other red car both checked up as you can see when he came charging through, no contact was made and it was clean, but what if we hadn't checked up or he caught a bit to much grass? That's what my argument is. Just looking for opinions, it isn't a big deal.

Yea it probably was a bit risky but I would of went for it. He got one hell of a run out of the left which give him the opportunity. You and other guy did well also as it could of ended horribly if either of you had of moved over on each other.

Risky but I would have went for it.

I'm from Northern Ireland and real road racing is massive over here. We have the NW200 and UGP along with smaller events. You've probably heard of the Dunlops from here? Josh Brooke's from AUS is doing the TT this year. You've probably heard of him. He big name in BSB series with a team from Northern Ireland. You need to come to IOM it's something else!

A bit late on the reply, but oh yeah heard of the Dunlops. I defiantly want to make the IOM sometime it's one of those things on my "bucket list" along with watching a GP race at mugello.

Risky but I would have went for it.

Agreed. With those cars having low hp when you get a run on somebody like that you kinda have to go for it because if not it might take a while to get by someone.

Unorthodox pass? Yes. Risky? Not so much, there was plenty of room and hemaxe sure there was enough to get by cleanly in case you twitched right.
It's kind of weird to see a pass attempt let alone a succesful pass there, so at first I'd had mixed feelings about it if I was on your place, but it is what it is you guys where having a clean race and making sure of it without realizing you might be letting a door open, just racing, good racing and all parts there.

I used the Cadillac deal so I'm back to iRacing. I will probably start practicing tomorrow so I can race on Saturday.
