No. 1 race every 2 hours for the next week.

I was asking about fuel in the Mclaren, not the dp.

Yea I'm doing the grand am that starts in roughly 30. I'll be in DP class

why did iracing take away fixed indycar road? that's BS! the oval still has it! why? some people don't have time to work on setups! it just don't make sense. iracing is pissing me the fuc off!!!

iRacing did away with all fixed road series Class D and above starting this season to help get participation up.

It's the same with Proto/GT Fixed, it's gone but you can still get all the fixed sets but the problem is the fixed sets are good for 25min races not the 45min races the Open Proto/GT runs ... bit gutted about that the fixed sets for the Ford GT are good but cant handle the new fuel load.

Can't wait for some DP at the Glen tonight! I'm almost a second off my best from last time though, not sure why. Using baseline both times, I don't like any of the setups I've found on the forums. They're all too loose for me

Just got me the lotus 49 and the Canadian gp circuit, can't wait to give the lotus a run later on.

Ok, the open indycar guys are too fast for me! I really liked the fixed series. I tried the open in the past & was way off pace. Some guys in fixed were more my skill level, i just dont have time to practice every day & working on setups. I'm not the best or the fastest racer in the indycar but i just like racing it. It just really sucks that when you liked something and the only car ya raced in fixed is gone! Oh Well. Thats all i'm gonna say about that. Peace!

Meh, the plus side of open setup is that you can really find a sweet setup sometimes and dominate races. If you scour the internet or look in the weekly threads on the official forums you can find plenty of setups to try - I wouldn't even say it takes loads of practice, even if you don't have much time just try running setups in races until you find the fastest/most reliable one.

While I like the even ground you get with fixed setup in the first few races with a new car, its more fun being able to race against people with differing styles and setups.
I've had plenty of fun races at places like Watkins Glen and Spa where some people have set their cars up speed down the straights whereas other have speed in the corners. I've had some sweet first laps overtaking a lot of cars thanks to that!

Well I guess you're not alone about missing the fixed setup Indycar. Meaning that a lot of those guys will probably also race in the open setup series. Meaning that some of the guys will be on your pace.

Last update gave you updated setups for the Indycar as well. And setting up the car doesn't need to take hours, days, weeks, months or years. Becoming a master setup builder will take time. But very few people are. All of the setups I downloaded from people sharing them sucked. But a lot of people love them so maybe it's me, or people really aren't that skillful when it comes to setup.

Just try it out, but not today I guess :scared:

The setups take some laps to come in for me but they can be iffy. The esses are here I have most trouble because car wants to push way wide coming with any speed.

Usually the initial time investment of making a setup is around 2-4 hours for a new car. Then that setup is usually good at every track with minor setup adjustments like downforce or fuel after that.

3 awesome racing in a row with the Trucks at Pocono. So much fun.

I flat out suck at that track, turn 1 gets me every time no matter what car even if I'm just taking it easy.

Can someone explain this to me because I've never fully understood why one setup is better. I pretty much race fixed oval as I like to jump in, well Iowa has nationwide and that setup is very stable (it has some issues if you get in way to hot) but compared to trucks who are wicked loose out of not corners, it seems whoever sets up the trucks likes a loose truck while the nationwide is setup closer to neutral or tight but alot more stable. Shouldn't it be the other way around since trucks are first big car anyone gets outside of late models on some larger tracks?

Btw whoever posted that wheel setup guide, it confuses me as I have no clue where to start.

It seems to be that you are getting on the power too fast or turning too much. The truck, iirc, has more power and smaller tires than the NW, causing it to feel loose. The truck has been a great drive on most every track I've been to. I haven't tried Pocono, only because it scares the hell outta me.

The Truck Pocono fixed setup is really loose for the first handful of laps until the tires get some heat in them, then it's more neutral. You have to really watch your throttle application and steering angle at all times, especially in Turns 1 and 3. Too much gas or too much wheel and you're going around.

Turn 2 is surprisingly the easiest of the three. You just don't want to go two wide in there.

Also, going into 3rd gear for 1 and 3 can save you a couple of tenths, but it also makes the Truck looser.

Pocono is a weird track as it's hard to find a groove but it's not terrible.

The truck has less power than NW but smaller tires might be the deal there. It just always seem a little loose while NW has good balance over all.

Do you use brakes at all getting into 1 or 3?

1, yes, all the time. 3, you can get away with coasting in if you lift earlier, otherwise just a small tap I think.

Good to know, I hate having to use the brakes in oval tracks but that's one corner I have to. Rockingham is only other place, to set up turn 1.

How do you know when your pit repairs are over?

Got rear-ended earlier and had to pit for repairs. Well I didn't know and just sat there for 3 minutes, and figure i'd put it in gear while waiting. I hit the throttle and off I went. Car seemed ok, and was putting down same pace laps as my usual for car and track.

So how do you know when pit repairs are done?

Thanks

There is a timer showing the time you have left if you have repairs, and the pit guy in front of you will have a stop/go board that he'll move out of the way.

That's what I thought. Last few times when it says "you need to pit for repairs". Its obvious the car has damage, so I hit tow and then the tow countdown starts, reaches 0 the the next counter starts counting up. The pit crew guy isn't holding the marker in front of me. I'll test later.

Thanks for reply.

When towing, you wanna be in the pits, making any adjustments you can and need to. Then, when the counter reaches zero, you'll start your pit stop and you'll see more timers saying how long the repairs are.

If you aren't in pit lane, and enter back into the car, it will start as if you already made a stop.

If you exit the pits to the menu during a race while the tow timer is counting you can get back in the car and time continues. If you do so during the repair timer during a race when you get back in the car the repairs will have been suspended. You will need to leave your pit box and reenter your pit box to begin repairs again.

Anything D class or below gets a fast repair, that's why you didn't get the repair time, what this means is that your car is automatically fixed, so you want to make sure your tires and fuel is unchecked so you won't get stuck on the pits changing tires and getting fuel.
