i tryed letting cedric (2nd place) by right before the corkskrew but the didnt pass and so i was on wrong line, lost it, then i was in 5th, got back to 4th and the spun out of the hairpin and hit a guy as i was trying to rejoin. And I'm in Raleigh btw.

Anyone ever run in RUF Cup before? I was just in a race at Suzuka and I've never seen so much terrible driving in one race, so many people not knowing what they're doing. People had no clue how to pass or be passed, a lot of people weren't aware of what was going on around them, people turning in when they shouldn't, people braking way to early and getting rear ended, people locking up from going to fast and spinning and collecting a few cars.. It was embarrassing. I was run into so much for no reason and I ran into people who had no clue what they were doing.. One guy went wide and braked early to let me go, but then decided to turn into my left rear tire anyway, spinning us both around.. I was disqualified after 8 laps, I only dropped wheels twice so on my own I had 2 incidents, the other 15 were from either being run into or hitting people who weren't paying attention.. I was even patient with some of the slower guys after I got taken out and was coming back up through the field, I followed someone way off the pace for almost an entire lap.

Seems sometimes you get every amateur known to a series in a race with you.

I had one like that last week in the GT3 series. Sad cause the two races prior were really good and clean.

I think Suzuka tends to be a wreck fest regardless of the cars or class. There is really only a couple of spots good for passing even though the track is very wide in most places. I feel Suzuka is about patience and as we all know people on Iracing are fresh out of that. Ive only had a couple good races there and they where small fields of less than 15 people.

In a 2800 strength of field race, they crashed before turn 1 in the RUF (and the guy that caused was not a surprise to me ). I was only hit once in my races and but I dodged MANY incidents.

I think Suzuka has too many challenging braking zones. I felt good running low 2:07s to 6.5s but I couldn't pass anyone because no one uses the same braking points. It was better upfront with the guys running 5-4s, they all used the same brake points.

So qualify REALLY well

HI guys, I'm relatively new to iracing and still competing in the rookie events although I did just get promoted to D license. The reason for my post is to highlight the fact that some people just don't seem to understand the difference between racing and qualifying and the warm up prior to the race. Why is it that some drivers feel the need to defend a corner or try and retake a position after being passed in qualifying or during the warm up. This has happened to me on numerous occasions and it is getting to be a major pain in the ass. I try whenever possible to leave a good size gap between me and the next car to give myself the best chance at a good qualifying lap but it is inevitable that I will catch someone who has gone off and re-entered and then wants to race as opposed to getting out of the way and letting faster cars go by. Unfortunately there is not a lot that can be done about this other than post about it here in the hope that the some of the guilty parties read this and change their ways. Anyway, now that I've got that off my chest just wanted to say that I am really enjoying iracing and look forward to bettering my skills and joining the big guns in the higher echelons of the elite classes.

Edit:
I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize to anyone who's race I have screwed up through some idiotic or rookie mistake that I have made up until now. No doubt I will make many more but I will always be accountable for my own screw-ups.

Once you get a C class or better you will be more like minded racers. The Rookie classes have loads of free trial users that really just don't care about clean and fair racing. Not to mention many lack skill and race craft. To the degree of none.

I think the game should make rookie racers complete a school of sorts before being allowed on track with others. At least we then know they know what's expected and have the knowledge.

Shame as I was actually thinking about running that series for fun if I was able to get the points I wanted in Proto & GT and GT3 before the week ended.

I'm not so sure it's the braking zones at Suzuka causing the problems, or if the brakes on the RUF C Spec are rubbish. Every time I jump into the car, it is incredibly frustrating how inconsistent and just utter rubbish the brakes are on that car.

Just hang in there. Once you get to the C Class, blocking in Qualifying and things of the like will be gone.

Here's an update to the GT Enduro Championship. Updated the Rules and number system a bit. Still a lot of work to go on the initial setup side before I open it to entry. Let me know what you think of the rules. Gt Enduro Championship Information

It might have just been the race I was in, it didn't split so that's probably part of the problem.. Not trying to discourage anyone from racing the RUF Cup.

All it takes is one amateur in a field of 30+ to get ugly faaaaast

No kidding, lol
Might be an option for some, but typically a small minority.
I guess there's a plus side to a series with very few high SOF/official races after all (V8SC). With basically only two-three chances to race on a track per week, wrecks like that a fairly rare from what I've seen last season.

Can anyone post the current iRacing Schedule?

Another one of my GT3 comparison videos. So cool to see the different driving styles. The Macca is 1 tenth quicker of the two laps but, it only took me 4 laps in the RUF to go 1 tenth slower. I'm sure with more practice, the RUF would be 3 or 4 tenths quicker.

Oh my, look what the cat dragged in. :D How you've been buddy, haven't seen you around in some time now. Last I heard you were packing it in for iRacing, good to see you back again SW :)

Things are starting to get really ugly in GT3 High SOF splits. Guys starting to run others off the circuit, into walls, spin people out on purpose. And there seems to be around 4 massive wrecks all through the field on the 1st lap at Interlagos. Lack of racing talent, no understanding of the accordion effect, RUF's rear ending Maccas because Maccas "brake too early" and Maccas t boning RUF's that are taking the Porsche wide entry. Talks of people boycotting the series until standards are raised or a special GT3 series penalty system that really punishes hard gets implemented. Should be interesting.

I'll get my popcorn :D

I don't like the forum warriors who talk about that kind of stuff on the iracing forums. When you have that many cars, something is going to happen. I've been in some extra crappy driving standard races, but I've also been in some really good GT3 races. If they think 2 cars is bad, wait until the Bmw is in the mix. It will have even different strengths and weaknesses than the other 2. I think it'll all correct itself by the end of next season

I'm just curious as to why it's happening so much, GT3 seems to be the only series effected by it..

I think it has to do with the Ruf being faster than the McLaren in general as well as the cars making speed in different ways

I'm guilty of being one of the forum warriors I guess. I like talking a lot and well, more often times than not, it gets me in trouble lol.

Not necessarily because the RUF is quicker. Realistically it's maybe only worth 2 or 3 tenths in my opinion.

The racing after the initial mayhem is usually no different than any other series. A few wrecks here and there because of a misunderstanding or lack of respect from two or more drivers. It's just those first 5 laps or so that cause the problems. Because there has never been a series where you have a group of 15-20 cars run nose to tail together for 5 laps straight, nobody has got even the slightest of clue as to how to race in that sort of situation. Most of the first 5 lap incidents that I've seen are a driver getting caught out by the "Accordion Effect." What usually happens is that they will either rear end the car in front, or they will dive to the inside for a really late overtake. Either way, it usually causes a fair amount of problems.

There's also the lack of patience argument that is pretty prevalent in every iRacing series starts. People think that being a hero on the first few laps when things are way bunched up will make things better. I think I've shown multiple videos here where I've either stayed station even though I could have overtaken the driver in front, or I've even been known to let people by quite easily despite being for position. In the end, I'll usually still finish in front of those people or can race my way back up once things get spread out.

Having really good Racing Awareness is something that is really important in a series this competitive and unfortunately, it seems that many have yet to learn this.

Patience is something that is drifting away from the sport in real life as well. Even though, I think it's the most important part of racing and I've benefited from being patient more than a handful of times in real life as well as in the Sim.
