Just wanted to know if there are any IRL fans out there. I just got back from the race at Kansas Speedway today, it was very good to say the least.

I used to call it the Irrelevant Racing League, but they've certainly shown me up over the last twelve months, pinching teams and manufacturers from Cart.

We had coverage on Foxtel in Australia but it's kind of dropped off the radar here - they need some street races.

well next year theyre going to motegi because honda is gonna be an engine manufacturer so that makes sense, kind of odd though- one of the reasons penske moved to the IRL is because he was tired of paying for traveling around the world. Tony George should help some of the underfunded teams with that trip over to Japan.

When the IRL begins to follow their own rules, I'll watch them again (RE: the Indy 500 winner). Until then, I can't bring myself to support them.

I just don't like Tony George.

The fact that they only run speedrings doesn't impress me much either though.

Other than that, the more racing the better.

the fact that they were "snatching" teams from cart was mainly due to cart scruing themselves over with thier high cost cars and engines. irl has better racing and is cheaper for the team owners.
but i might also think it is because cart will become bankrupt in the near future with how they are self promoting races and buying airtime, just look at the stock prices.

i lust love how cart is making fun of irl saying that it costs just as much to run an irl car as it does a cart car but now thier saying that they will be saving up to 50% more money by going to the same configuration as the irl is running.

then earlier this year they say that this wont become a spec engine series, but wait what are they doing next year, their going to run ford cosworth engines only.

its the little things that count like when cart was running at texas speedway i think it was and they were complaning that they were goning too fast so they didnt race. irl was goining just as fast if not 10 mph slower. i think it was because they saw the big wreck at charlotte the night before when the irl was running so they did not race.

tony george just wanted to bring open wheel racing back to its roots on ovals

Does Tony George give you oily massages to get you to write this stuff?

He and the system (U.S. Television sponsorship) are the reason for the downfall of Cart. I agree it will disappear in the next few years, but it is far more his doing than any other.

Oval-only circuits are for Nascar, pit crews, and TV directors who haven't caught on to the major motorsport video production developments in the last five years. Real drivers master turning in both directions and driving in multiple conditions.

Actually it was because a number of drivers were reporting dizziness and nausea after four or five laps, due to the forces being generated on the steeper banking. Champ cars generate much more downforce in corners because they're configured to run at both road course and ovals.

ahh vat_man you must not of realized that the cart drivers may not of been telling the truth because if any member of cart said something bad about the organization they will be given a fine.

and no racing organization that i know of runs on ovals in the rain

the indy cars of today are just newer versions of the old roadsters that used to only run on ovals. tony george just wanted to bring that racing back to life.
