Is anyone else disappointed with GT5?

1. They are coming.

2. Clearly, they didn't have the time to model all the cars in the exacting detail as the premiums. Which would you rather have 200 cars and nothing else (a la GT3) - or 200, plus the other 800 thrown in? It isn't a big deal - if you don't like the standards, don't drive them.

3. People's opinions on which events are hardest/easiest will always vary. There are a few ups and downs, but generally its not bad. This is a large game.

Y.
Glad to hear about the leaderboards.

As for the events I assume you haven't done this just yet but trust me when you do you will realise its impossible.

By the way I don't know why your yawning. The title of the thread is called "anyone else disappointed with GT5". I suggest if you don't like negative comments then don't read this thread!

Yawn.

Not enough time? Thanks for the laugh

People playing bumper cars online happens on pretty much every racer.

True. I wish they would implement a feature where if someone drives backwards on the track they will be DQ'd and automatically ejected from the race. Forza had it where the host could eject players from the match but I was ejected from the match on more than one occasion by simply being the fastest in the lobby and the host getting tired of getting beat.

Not disappointed at all. I love cars and I love restoring, tuning and driving cars. I don't like goofy racing games like any of the NFS series.

I have played GT since GT2 and never even tried to complete the "game". I don't care about the AI because that is not the point. This is a driving simulator. The best competition in this game is beating your own last lap time.

Yeah, people could get kicked just for having a high rank, so T10 had to hide ranking lol..
My way around the whole online idiot (and S5/awd viper) thing was to join a team based racing league. We had all levels of driver, but everyone was there for clean racing.

Unless you have a friends list full of GT fanatics, it's one of the only ways to avoid that crap. Plus, you'll probably make some good mates.

Just a shame there's no party chat on ps3...

I still can't fathom why they decided to make your B-Spec driver a brain-dead mongoloid. I'm pretty sure my dog is a more capable driver. It's like Kaz is trolling us on purpose.

I think LOL would be insufficient here...

Bwahahahhahahahhahaha!

OK it seems like you're the only one here who doesn't understand this. I didn't think I'd have to explain it, so here:

"It was done on purpose" means they split between standard and premium cars KNOWINGLY.. it wasn't a matter of "not having time". If you remember we heard about standard and premium cars a long time ago. So everyone knows it's not a last-minute thing.

There, better?👍

Your comments about online - I suggest you form your own opinion, rather than cutting and pasting negative posts from the forum. It isn't that bad, there is clean racing to be had out there. Make some friends with clean racers and create a lounge.

Wanna help you out here and add somethings on point 3...

For the one who you reply on, in gt4 we had 200 spec points max to win. Took me alot of time finding out the right cars that gave me a huge battle till the finnish. Now it is just the same. It's not because you can enter an M3 in a compact car race you need to enter that car... You can alslo enter a Vitz EU, and you're off, good race, only lap 3 i came first,...etc.

IT's YOUR CHOICE...

And yes, all the rest is coming, big yawn indeed...

You wish... Oh my god....

If you make a lobby online as a lobbleader, what happens:

You are the leader, that means you can restrict the lobby and be the boss tyranically, wich means you can KICK people off the server if you want...
So if you see driving somebody backwards, and you think like well, yeah ok, i don't like that person, you just kick them...

THE FEATURE IS IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate lies...

Hahahahaa, there is a party chat on PS3, with or without headset.

Just was on GTp party chat last night, thanx to Tossr. A nice feature of party chat is that it keeps going while you are already on the server, messages keep popping up. You can press xmb button and chat on,...

Time to laugh at the lyers...

Bwahahahaaaaaaaaaa:dopey:👍:dunce:

I love this smartass attitude...

Tell me you weren't disappointed when you first knew that, after 5 years of development and just a few months before the game was release, only 20% of the cars in the game would have the quality of the cars we knew from Prologue...?

Seriously, tell me.

And if you say you weren't, either you're lying or you don't care enough about this game to be here posting on the forums.

Oh, and don't say that people just have to "deal with it". This is a thread specifically about what you feel was disappointing about the game, so it's the place to say it without the smartass comments.

No of course I'm not disappointed by GT5. It's got content to keep me busy for years. People should think what they are getting for 60eur... This is an amazing sim racer.

this more a fail of the person playing the game....

why would drive strait into traffic it is stupid.

If you play Gt5 the way it is intended it's graet fun.

If you don't like it than just stop playing, it is that simple realy 👍

Actually, yes. Now that I think about it, I would've just been happy with 200 cars, just like in GT3. It didn't bother me in that game.

Then I would't have to waste time grinding and waiting forever for a car to show up in the used dealer just to do an event. I'm level 22, and Beginner series still isn't done because I have yet to find an old Japanese car from the 70s. Your point would be valid if you didn't need standard cars to progress through the game, but sadly, this isn't the case.

Good collision physics! *

*Sarcasm needs explaining on the internet.

Seriously, Indy 500 on Amiga had better cars flippin' out! Its just way too easy to laugh at all the things wrong with GT5. There is a lot.
That's like Nascar where all the cars are exactly the same. No doubt it easier to nail down the physics of a few cars over 500 to 1000 in Forza and GT series. It's the exact same thing with flight sims like IL-2. That sim could nail down the physics of IL-2 plane more than it could with a plane like P-51 Mustang.

I've got problems with my game.
I can't play at all.
When I'm playing any mode in the game I have to switch off the game because the race never ends!!
At the end of the race I can't go back to the main menu or anywhere else because the cars just keep going around the track slowly forever and nothing happens!!
Same thing for the licences, after a try at the finish line, the car just makes noises and I can't go back or do anything else, it just doesn't move anymore, that's so annoying!!

Please help me!!

i agree with alot of what has been said but i love this game end off story, there are some problems but what game is perfect i think it is impossible for PD to make a game that please every single person that buys it millions of people+, just the physics and having the nurburgring is good enough for me. the only small down side for me is the lack of premium cars but im sure PD will make DLC adding cars ect

Well, measured by how much fun I have and will have with this game, I must give it a 10/10.

However, it is so heavily flawed in some regards that I can't actually believe it. It seems to me that PD focused on some points (car models, track design, driving model, feedback) and got that really right while they completely ignored others, namely those which were criticised in earlier GT games already.

My greatest complaints so far:

1. GT Life events. In GT4, people criticised that restrictions are too loose. You could just tune up your car and annihilate everyone with sheer power. What did they do about it? They actually loosened the restrictions even more. Most A-Spec events are completely unrestricted. While GT4 used to have at least tyre restrictions, in GT5 I can enter almost any event with a race-spec slick-tyre monster that once was a humble 458. The challenge then is not so much winning as it is to lap the opponents. It would have been so easy to make some restrictions, why on earth didn't they do it?
This is a drawback of earlier games made even worse.

2. The AI. Just as ever, most of them are just moving obstacles slowing down to walking pace in corners. It's telling that many challenges are about getting from last to first place in one or two laps. Also, they still ram you like you're not there at all. This is particularly bad at NASCAR events. One half of oppenents is pushing each other in a line, while the other half relentlessly rams you, making it more Destruction Derby than NASCAR. The real challenge is to be lucky enough not to spin out because some redneck asshole maliciously pushes the back of your car sideways.
And for some completely incomprehensible reason, you're given a disadvantage by making ASM mandatory, meaning that your car is constantly slowing down when not driving in a straight line. Why??
NASCAR implementation is actually so poorly made that it would've been better if they didn't include it at all.

3. B-Spec Mode. Honestly, who wants that?

4. Many of the standard car models, of course. Some look like they've been copied from PS1 games. Enough has been said about this already.

5. Poor menu design again. Why is there no "change car" option at race menus? Why do you have to exit and go back to the main menu if you want to only use another car?

6. Poor menu design^2. What was wrong with the arcade mode car selection in GT4? You had a country/make chart where you could quickly access any car that was unlocked so far. In GT5, you have a sideways list (which is a pain to scroll through) of some cars, and if you want others, you have to buy them and add them to your faves, only to make another impractical sideways list. Even worse, they have the tuning you did to them in GT Life. When playing with a friend split-screen, I just want to select some street-spec road car, and my friend selects a similar one, but not the same one. This has been made a lot more difficult without reason. Another huge step backwards.

7. Time trial challenge. There is no time trial option with online leaderboards and fixed restrictions like in GT5P. Why? Another step backwards, although one I hope they'll fix in a near-future update.

This all, and the fact that they released a boxed version without any online functionality in the first place, makes me think this is rather a beta version than a fully developed game. No other big title dares to be so flawed. Sometimes I wonder if Keiji Inafune was right by saying that Japanese developers are pretty hopeless in the present.

I really hope they get it right soon. If they continue to show no interest in improving the drawbacks, I might get driven off. I'm starting to get interested in what Forza 4 will be like.

5. Poor menu design again. Why is there no "change car" option at race menus? Why do you have to exit and go back to the main menu if you want to only use another car?

Actually, you can change cars here. In the lower right corner of the race menu, there is a garage icon. You can change cars here. Not only that, but it will filter the cars if the race has certain limitations.
