Is anyone else disappointed with GT5?

An improved version of the Nurburgring and nice breath-taking layouts of SSR5 and SSR7 are among the two reasons I am highly impressed with the game.

The penalty system, the EXP system, and the difficulty of obtaining all gold from Special missions/License exams, are among my known reasons of disappointment.

Since GT5 isn't so bad for me after all, I have faith in GT6.

I have got a stupid idea: instead of making PD/Kaz's lives any harder by whinning...

Why dont we complain to SONY (SCEA) Let them know that if they dont pay PD more money, we will no longer buy the PS3.

Boycott this console, until SONY properly invest into PD/Kaz for what they really worth!
How can so much be expected by US and by SOny from such a small group of people at PD??

GT5 is PS3's flagship!! Maybe they should treat PD/Kaz more accordingly, so that we users can get really what we wish for, and thus by extension, more PS3 sold ;)

Complaining to Kaz and PD is not enough, we ought to do it at SCEA's front door and offices, and PSN forums etc etc ....

Kaz has limited ressources... Sony holds the wallet, we should have a talk with them.

Honestly, I think your barking up the wrong tree. Sony invested 80 mil. 20 mil over. PD didn't deliver. Period. Sony gave them 5-6 years. If I was Sony, I'd be pissed that it took so long for one. Two, the results after such a long time is so far below expectations that its not even funny. Sony didn't make the game, PD did. Even if Sony pressured PD to get the game out PD had 5-6 years. No other racing title extended this far. You can't expect Sony to allow them to take their sweet time. Add another year or two to complete the game and you have a game that is outdated by almost 10 years. The P4 would be out by then and PD would have missed a whole generation console system.

If anything we can complain to Sony demanding DLC. I wouldn't boycott the PS3 though because GT5 is not the only game out there. I bought my system for other games as well and the blu-ray feature. It just so happened that GT is exclusive to PS.

LOL. Disappointed? No. Confused/Dumbfounded/Amuzed that people hung their entire being on a game? Yes.

As a programmer I know I couldn't do better myself. If you think you could do better yourself...realistically think again. If you're remorseful that you could have bought a gross of snack packs with $60, I can't comfort you.

Get over it...it...is...a...game.

Your in the wrong thread with your comment. Notice this is a venting thread. You probably only read the last page or two and wanted to defend the game. How many GT games have you played. A lot of us have been with the series since GT1 and we are comparing this to previous GT games which makes our points valid. I admit that it has....cough cough...had huge potential from the get go. Now they have to make it have potential. Luckily patches and DLC can be downloaded. But not everyone has this resource to update their game. If they done it right, more people would be buying this game. It should be very very difficult to find this game in stores. Instead alot of people can get used copies because people are so disappointed that they are either trading the game in or sold the game altogether.

To answer the OP:

Yes.

Yes I am. Incredibly disappointed.

This game is a pretty big step BACKWARDS from the last coupla installments in basically EVERY way (other than graphically on the Premium cars & the tracks themselves).

AI ramming me in a-spec I can live with. But when it happens in the license tests and special events and I get DQ'ed, I'm this close to ripping the disc out of my PS3 and throwing it into the sea.

Yes Sony did invest a lot of money into GT5, most of which was recouped from the sales of GT5:P.

I have to say if I was a Sony shareholder (which little to no interest in games) I would have no issue with GT5 at all, if we are talking about pure financial figures here we have a game which has sold 5.5 million units to retailers (the only sold figure a shareholder will care for - its at that point Sony make money). .A number that far outstrips the main competition in either shipped or sold to customer figures. They also know that historically GT titles also shift hardware as well, if that trend has continued and nothing has indicated otherwise, then that's even more reason to be happy.

You need to separate your own unhappness with GT5 (which you are rightly entitled to) with what Sony and its shareholders will care about. In those terms GT5 has already been a runaway success.

They will also not see 6 years of development as you do, they will see each title as a standalone profit centre, and as such see this:

GT5:P - 2007/2008 - 4.9 million units
GTPSP - 2009 - 2.9 million units
GT5 - 2010 - 5.5 million units

From a shareholders point of view the two years without a title between GT4 and GT5:P would have been much more of concern. A racing game fan will see a big delay between main titles, the Sony board will see a good flow of profit, with some nice economies of scale built into development costs.

If you are going to talk about how the money men feel about this, then you need to think how they will about it, and I see very little to be unhappy about from that point of view.

The only people who decide if someone is in the right thread to comment or not are the staff. This may well be a thread for those who are disappointed about GT5, that does not remove the right of others to reply and offer counterpoints. That is the very cornerstone of debate and discussion.

Unless someone is breaking the AUP they are free to reply, if you think they are breaking the AUP then use the report button.

As far as should not be able to get it in stores, well that depends on a huge number of factors, but given that Sony have shipped 5.5 million copies since launch day, it would suggest that they have done more than enough to hit very high sales figures and meet demand. Managing to do both is not a sign of failure you know.

Instead alot of people can get used copies because people are so disappointed that they are either trading the game in or sold the game altogether.
You see the exact same trend after every major release, why it happens will differ from game to game. With race sims its often because a good number will simply find the sim side of it too much for them.

It has happened with every GT title so far, and every Forza title so far. My local CEX (second hand games store in the UK) was packed with copies of FM3 the day after it was released. The same with GT5, COD:BO, Reach, etc, etc, etc.

I like GT 5 a lot. I played it every chance i hand since the launch day.

But i can understand many of the points, people have against it.

I cant help thinking GT 5 Prologue was a better game.

If we look away from the obvious fact that prologue was much shorter, and dident have the same amount of cars, tracks, and singleplayer stuff.

It had and almost perfect online system, the only two things it really lacked was private rooms, and voice chat. Besides that it had everything we needed for online. Matchmaking, credits, leaderboards for each car in standard and profesional.

It also had options for changing gear ratios. something Kaz is now claiming is very hard to do in the game ?

You could also save seperatly different tuning settings, now we only have 1 slot for each car ?

You was also able to backup your savegame.

In fact what we got after prologue a game wich was released in 2007. Is a downgraded version of the game with 130 more premium cars, and added 800 GT4 cars + more tracks, wich some off them already was on the prologue disc.

The thing that i am most worried about is I dont really have high hopes for a lot of patches, and updates of the game. It was the same when prologue was released they talked alot about how it would conteniously be updated with things, when in fact it really never did besides adding GT TV programs and a very few new cars.

We live in a world where money talks. Im sad to say it but i think everyone who hopes for a lot of updates and fixes will be disapointed.

Maybe we will see 1 or 2 free updates, but then i think the moneymen will say stop. Why would they invest more time into it, people have already bought it, there is no point of spending time or resources upgrading a game where there is no more money incoming.

After getting over the shock of a lot of missing features and some very strange development decisions, the more I've been playing and collecting cars, the more I am enjoying it. The physics are so good, so just simply driving different cars is fun. Online track days on the Nurb is a blast, as well as other clean online races. I just wish we could get XP/Cr. for online races to make the grind a little bit easier/fun. I'm in no hurry to level up (currently at lvl 20 because I race online a lot, and spend a lot of time in photomode).

We have plenty of time to play until the next GT game so I'm enjoying myself and taking things slow. Even when I will finally have to grind I will do it for the pleasure of racing/driving and not as a chore. Just doing races over and over again may get tiring for some, but I enjoy just simply racing, especially with the new physics.

There are quite a few disappointing issues with GT5, so I just hope Kaz/PD learn from their mistakes, and produce a finished, fully polished, and improved game with GT6.

Pretty sure that 5.5 million number ended up being units shipped, not units sold.

Would you now mind going back to my post and re-reading it, as I repeatedly said that they were shipped figures not sold.

Thanks

I saw that. Sorry about that, Scaff. Was about to edit.

Looking at sales figures, GT5 doesn't look like it did all that great. 2.072m in sales compared to the likes of Halo, MW, etc..I guess that isn't bad though for a nich product like a racing game.

IMO GT5 is a brilliant game...but it's waaaay too unfinished.

The lack of events is worrying, though that can be correctd with DLC.

My biggest gripe with GT5 is the racing aspect. I thought the pp system used in GT5 prologue worked wonders and made the racing very competitive and fun. Why they didn't include it for GT5 is above me...

I know I can make the racing in GT5 more competitive in selecting weaker cars...but that's not the point. I've never believed in the fact in making a game harder for myself...I want the developer to challenge me! Not myself! Sure I try to beat my own lap times and do the basic self-challenging...but the whole competitive factor of the game shouldn't rely solely on me.

At this point in time I'm actually enjoying the competitive racing of NFS Shift a lot more than the landslide victories or losses in GT5.

I don't want it to be that if I upgrade my car in any way I'm going to have a edge. I want it to be that I need to upgrade my car to be competitive.

And I know GT is a "driving simulator" and not a "racing simulator" but then again...why include racing at all if they can't make it competitive and relevant.

No problem 👍

For a sim racing title its a very high figure, have a look around and compare it to other titles and you will see exactly how good they are as well.

People are also far to dismissive of shipped figure, moaning that they are not true sales figures. Now while that is, from a retail point of view quite true. It also ignores the fact that retailers themselves are not stupid.

Many years ago I was a Parts Manager in a number of dealerships, and while I do little training these days, Aftersales management is one area is still do deliver (just project management mostly now). One thing you learn in that job is that you don't buy what you can't sell, parts in a dealership are small fry in comparison to games sales.

These 5.5 million shipped will be the product of very complex mathematical models based on pre-order figures, part sales, current sales and predicted future sales. Given the current economy as well, no one is going to hold long-term stock either, so these 5.5 million may be 'shipped' but you can out good money that they will be sales very, very soon.

Does anyone else feel like it could have been rushed out by Sony? I get the impression PD could have carried on developing for perfection... but Sony needed something to push sales over Xmas and so forced PD to release!

Or maybe, the visioned GT5 wouldn't fit on a Blu Ray? Does anyone know how much space the game is using? Surely Sony with all of its claims about the space of Blu Ray discs and digs at Microsoft over the use of DVD's wouldn't have allowed PD to split the game onto several Blu Ray discs, hence the delays, it wasn't the quest for perfection it was the ultimate cut down! Would explain all the updates coming, plans for better online features, upgrades to standard cars...

Anyone else agree?

I've reach a point in A and B Spec where the grind is really starting to take hold, in A-Spec I've got to grind to level 24 and earn enough Cr to be able to buy the Formula GT car and in B-Spec I've only got the historic race left at my current level but haven't got a good enough car for him to drive, even though I won it fairly easily in my Ford Mk4.

There is a quick fix that would almost remove the grind for lots of people and that's to implement the award of XP and credits in multiplayer. I don't really know why it hasn't been included already as it works well in Forza 3 but it would be a start.

Besides the cars which was actually more than a few (when GT5P was first released there were 37 cars and and the number climbed to 76 by the end), there was 1 additional track- High Speed Ring which was added in Spec II. The driving physics went through at least two iterations. There were even minor graphics changes like toning down the bright light coming out of the tunnel at Eiger and HSR. The leaderboard rules went through changes for example tire limit and banning the use of on the fly adjustment etc.

I just got an idea, maybe KY is starting to lose interest in GT game concept, maybe he is thinking of retirement, doing something else cause look at this game after 6 years a such underdeveloped game is to mean something.
My complaint with the game s the terrible AI, it seems that they just copy/paste it from previous GT games. It's the first time I have to admit PD puts their work to shame and they have to aknowledge that and please don't delete my post mods, I hope PD staff read this topic. I am not gonna preorder my next GT game and that's my decision after playing GT5.

Well the version I bought on release day (EU) already had + 70 cars as well as the leaderboards. The truth is there was a few minor updates, but nothing with radically changed the game.

I remember when it was released it sounded like it was coming lots of updates with additional cars, tracks, and features. It was also stated that it would be posibel to carry over your cars and credits to the full game. Heck at one point Kaz he hinted that the prologue might merge into the full game.

Dont get me wrong i like Gran turismo 5 a lot, in fact i played it almost everyday since release, but honestly i can see that there are some major problems with it. Especially when we are talking one of the biggest flagship games on the PS3 system. This is not a NFS game with a new addition every year.

The game has a lot less single player content than GT 4 had. 4/5 of the cars are from GT 4. The online functions are very poor. There are no leaderboards.

There is no motivation to play online since there is no credit or XP reward. Combined with how litle single player content the game has to offer it is about imposibel to reach level 40, unless you plan to race the same A spec race like 10.000 times.

There are buttons in the menu's, wich has been grayed out, wich indicates that it is rushed release after 6 years. They proberly got told by Sony to release it now.

Some of the stuff wich was announced is completely missing, or only halfway there.

Ability to upload video's to youtube ?

Headtracking with Pseye ? (only in arcade, who the hell need this when playing against the AI. We need it for serious online racing)

Some tracks wich was shown in demo's and presentation are not in the game ?

Some seriously bad design desisions, like not being able to backup the savegame. Some menu's takes ages to get back to the main menu. You cant forward or backward replay. Cant team up with your B spec driver in endurance race's. Lack of a livery editor.

I know maybe something are minor, but really for a game that has been in the development for 6 years, and want to be the top of driving games, it really has a long way to go IMO.

first and foremost i want to say that the graffics of the 204 "premium" cars and the tracks and all of the driving physics are AMAZING!!! and totally stood up to my high @$$ standars. BUT... and this is a BIG "but" i think that PD has a LOT of work to do in patching up this game before they even THINK of starting on gt6.

i cant say that i am fully disapointed but i deffinetly think there were MANY let downs.

i appologize in advance for any typos and errors i may have made. thank you

if the game had been anounced a month before the ACTUAL release date this game would be AMAZING!!! but everything that has been worked up about it. gtHD gt5 prologue (every car having an interior view and looking fantastic. then the game comes out and only 20% of the cars in the game look that good. the others look like they came straight out of gt4) and all the media press and false release dates. the quotes of how this game will "exceed expectations" i really had HIGH hopes for this game and they royally ****ed it up. i still give it a good 7 out of 10. but they way they were talking i was expecting a solid 11. when making a sequal to a game...(or whatever you would call this) you are NEVER supposed to take things out of the game. maybe improve on them maybe add to them, or just add new things all together but NEVER are you supposed to take things out.

in photo mode i can only take pictures on "premium" model cars. how lame is that?
wheres the top speed oval test track from gt4, and the 0-400m tracks, the open parking lot with cones all over the place.
wheres the NOS
why cant i speed up b spec.
why do i have to stay on the b spec drivers case the whole time for him to drive good?
and i have to give him a car thats WAY faster than the other guys for him to even keep up.
my girlfriend can post a better lap time than the ghost by the b spec driver
and they dont listen for $#!+ if there is another car close by. i tell him to pace down 3 consecutive times and he stays in the red and spins out, then comes to a complete stop and waits for all 11 other people to pass before trying to get back on the track.
or he will almost spin out and over correct and end up driving into the pit. and loosing 6 positions.
why is there only 1 used car lot? what happend to having 3 to choose from?
why cant i put a roll cage in my car?
where are the different countries for dealerships? if i need an italian car for a certain race i need to know what cars are what. i know the main ones but what about the others? how do i know what makers are from where?
why is the (and i quote) """fully customizable""" transmission not fully customizable?
all i can alter is the final gear and its WAY off.. i put one in my veyron and streched it out all the way. it told me the top speed was 298 and when i hit 230 i was taching out in 6th gear. the car had more power but i couldnt go any faster.
and i know there are other things i cant think of right now.

but then we have to address the things they did a half@$$ job on.
like the damage model.
ya it looks cool when my bumper starts to fall and it looks pretty real (if you didnt know that he was just doing 150mph when he hit that wall.) and the car starts right up and drives away fine.
and why dont i have to pay to repair my car? its just magically fixed after every race.
if i wreck my car too hard during a race not only should i have to pay to have it fixed but that should be the end of the race. no restart option.
and it would even be cool if they eventually made it so that you can be in jured from a bad crash and have to wait several days to heal before you raced again. and possibly miss some special events only available on certain days..
There are things like the ferrari f430 scuderia start up
it sounds like 2 seperate sound clips from different spots or even of different cars all together. the first time it started up i thought it was my speakers grounding out or something.
things like 1000 cars and only 200 are premiums.
i understand that it takes a long time and a lot of work to make one of those cars as detailed and beautiful as they should be, but if youre going to do it, do it RIGHT!!! and do them ALL. or dont do it at all just save it for gt6
then even if i except that they were only going to make 20% of the cars dubbed "premium" im still dissapointed because they made some very VERY POOR choices of what cars were and were not "premiums". why is an 89 miata a "premium", and a 98 300zx "standard"?
why is the capaccino a "P" and the EVO VII rally car a "S" and the STI rally car
if anything i think all the exotics and race cars should be "P"
why isnt a pagani zonda a premium or a bugatti?
and why is an 89 300zx "P" and a 98 "S"? they have the same interior!!! how hard is it to just use that. you dont even have to make it from scratch. its already in the game. same goes for the s2000's, rx7's, STI's and miata's
there are 72 skylines in the game 18 of witch are premiums
but they forgot so many other cars

then there are cars that SHOULD be in the game and were left out for who knows why.
like the DBR9 why not?
if your going to do a truck race why not the srt10 truck?
old mustangs like 5.0 both fox body and newer. they have the ugly 71 mach 1 but no 96 cobra or 04 reg cobra not the cobra r
non turbo 300zx. you did the non turbo silvias and 240s the sl 3000gt but no na 300zx
and things like the 2+2 TT 300zx. those dont even exist!!!! atleast not in the states unless you did an after market engine swap.
c4 and c5 corvettes NON z06
they are missing ALL kinds of ferraris. like 360 modena 550 maranello 430 challenge or 430 challenge stradale the testerosa the 575 evoluzione the f50. they have the f40 and the f60 (enzo) but no f50. why?
why is there still the limited selection of RUF, why not porsche? they have plenty of race cars too.
the lambo diablo and diablo VT
why not a koenegsegg?
still no coupe civics. (not really that important. but then again neither is the daihatsu midget. but they didnt forget that one.)
the lotus exige S
shelby untimate aero
or cars like the cobalt ss. the friggin neon srt4 is there, so why not the ss?
srt 8 crystler 300 and srt8 jeep or srt8 charger
ss trailblazer
FF eagle talon but no AWD turbo eclipse gsx?

here are some examples of things that other games have that i would like to see in the GT series eventually
full paint, decals and custom cosmetics like nfs pro street.
real damage visually like pro street and toca 3
mechanical damage like toca 3 where you can pop tires and ride on only rims. where if you miss-shift too many times your trans wont work properly. or too many front end collissions and your motor blows. bent up fenders, hoods and wings screw up aerodynamics and downforce and cause drag.
interior views in cars like in ferrari challenge
brand name body kits like in auto modelista
brand name performance parts like auto modelista
engine swaps like auto modelista
off track crashes and flips like Dirt and toca
car customizing like blowers and exhaust pipes and tips like midnight club
wheel size changing like midnight club
use some of their own ideas like performance points in races. allow the AI cars to have equal performance points with different mod combinations. like in gt5p
drag racing like pro street but with gt5 physics engine
color options like in auto modelista where you make up your own color by using 3 variable bars and having more of some colors and less of other colors to make your own custom color.
with different finishes like pearl, metalic, matte, flat, and gloss like midnight club

now i dont expect them to get all of this by the next gt game but i do hope to see it all before i turn 60. im 26 right. now.

big list, but had to mention that veyron has a 7 speed gear box...... try the next gear and you will keep moving :D

Honestly, I think your barking up the wrong tree. Sony invested 80 mil. 20 mil over. PD didn't deliver. Period. Sony gave them 5-6 years. If I was Sony, I'd be pissed that it took so long for one. Everything in this post is totally devoid of any facts. SONY is hugely to blame, they are the ones that forced 3d, which took precious resources that could have gone to the poor career mode and limited online modes. Sony had a huge hand in the decisions that went into this game. Sony has been making poor decisions since PS3 was announced. Both are to blame.

PD are on record of saying the game was close to done in 08, then Sony mandated 3d and other things that pulled the game in too many directions.

I sense a lot of American and Fast and the Furious ideas in Brently300.
I surely don't want to ruin (ricer) my cars to much but some points are valid.
A friend of mine is really disappointed that there is not a single LADA in the car list.
But who wants LADA, but then again who wants slow boring Japenese cars as Premium when we have awesome cars like Lambo Diablo, Veyron, F50, Koeniggsegg... that aren't Premium or not even present in the game

custom decals, the ability to paint other body parts and and custom livery and decals would be cool

also a photomode or online would be cool

more tuning options would be cool

weather and night available for every track would be great

way more events for special, a and b spec would be great

An official 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile DRAG TRACK would be awesome!!!

I'm a bit disappointed. This game feels to me like X-Files. I don't know what has happened to it, it's a mistery. I bought my PS3 a year ago because this game was "about to go out", just to have to wait one more year... There are many let downs, considerin the development time this game had. To list some:

· Gear ratios not customizable
· Not able to play split-screen using a 2nd account inside my PS3 (Multiple login - I'd like to race my tuned cars against my bro's tuned cars...)
· Events. It feels like there are only 2 or 3. Where are the one-make events and championships of former GTs, for instance? Huge game, deserves huge amount of events. Or even an event-creator!
· Online lap-times leaderboards. Worldwide and friends. C'mon, even the worst PSN game with online component has this kind of leaderboards.... this was a HUGE let down for me...
· Being able to set up online events/championships, or have some already pre-made, earning credits. For ideas, check FIFA Ultimate Team.
· More tracks. Or at least, I feel like I'm missing a few... Seattle any? I don't really think they will add any. But hopefully, at least, more scenarios for the course generator.
· Point-to-point course generator. C'mon, it's even in the manual... And of course, I'd like to use them for rally events with co-driver voices, like in the Intermediate Rally Special Event.

Can't think of more right now... I'm just amazed to see an in-game forum, windscreen wipers, and not to see any of the above, which I consider somehow basic...

I don't really care about standard cars. I mean, of course they look horrible compared to the premiums. But I guess they had +200 cars ready and said "ok, lets put the GT4 cars also too so people have more to drive, more prizes to give from events, etc...". Some of them are really nice to drive.

Neither I care about damage. VISUAL damage. I DO care about mechanical damage, which I still have to see... Just 4 or 5 things would have been great: punctures, overloaded engine, gearbox failure,... It's not needed to recreate failure due to a bolt falling...

In spite of everything, still this is a great game. But please.... fix it... add all these basic features... It feels like moving to a new empty house. Great feeling, still loads to do.

big list, but had to mention that veyron has a 7 speed gear box...... try the next gear and you will keep moving :D

haha woops i guess ill try that

just tried it ans still only got to 270. still very fast but its not 298 like the game suggested
i did the run on special route 7. with the tunnel and the long straight. do you know of some place better?

I sense a lot of American and Fast and the Furious ideas in Brently300.
I surely don't want to ruin (ricer) my cars to much but some points are valid.
A friend of mine is really disappointed that there is not a single LADA in the car list.
But who wants LADA, but then again who wants slow boring Japenese cars as Premium when we have awesome cars like Lambo Diablo, Veyron, F50, Koeniggsegg... that aren't Premium or not even present in the game

by NO means do i mean to "ricer" or ruin my cars. i always build with taste.. but i do know that there would be people who would rice out their cars and that would be stupid.. so maybe just ad body kits to cars worthy of having them and cars that actually need them. and i meant decals like brand names. and you should only be able to use them if you have those parts installed in you car.

first and foremost i want to say that the graffics of the 204 "premium" cars and the tracks and all of the driving physics are AMAZING!!! and totally stood up to my high @$$ standars. BUT... and this is a BIG "but" i think that PD has a LOT of work to do in patching up this game before they even THINK of starting on gt6.

i cant say that i am fully disapointed but i deffinetly think there were MANY let downs.

i appologize in advance for any typos and errors i may have made. thank you

if the game had been anounced a month before the ACTUAL release date this game would be AMAZING!!! but everything that has been worked up about it. gtHD gt5 prologue (every car having an interior view and looking fantastic. then the game comes out and only 20% of the cars in the game look that good. the others look like they came straight out of gt4) and all the media press and false release dates. the quotes of how this game will "exceed expectations" i really had HIGH hopes for this game and they royally ****ed it up. i still give it a good 7 out of 10. but they way they were talking i was expecting a solid 11. when making a sequal to a game...(or whatever you would call this) you are NEVER supposed to take things out of the game. maybe improve on them maybe add to them, or just add new things all together but NEVER are you supposed to take things out.

wheres the top speed oval test track from gt4, and the 0-400m tracks, the open parking lot with cones all over the place.
wheres the NOS
why cant i speed up b spec.
why do i have to stay on the b spec drivers case the whole time for him to drive good?
and i have to give him a car thats WAY faster than the other guys for him to even keep up.
my girlfriend can post a better lap time than the ghost by the b spec driver
and they dont listen for $#!+ if there is another car close by. i tell him to pace down 3 consecutive times and he stays in the red and spins out, then comes to a complete stop and waits for all 11 other people to pass before trying to get back on the track.
or he will almost spin out and over correct and end up driving into the pit. and loosing 6 positions.
why is there only 1 used car lot? what happend to having 3 to choose from?
why cant i put a roll cage in my car?
where are the different countries for dealerships? if i need an italian car for a certain race i need to know what cars are what. i know the main ones but what about the others? how do i know what makers are from where?
why is the (and i quote) """fully customizable""" transmission not fully customizable?
all i can alter is the final gear and its WAY off.. i put one in my veyron and streched it out all the way. it told me the top speed was 298 and when i hit 230 i was taching out in 6th gear. the car had more power but i couldnt go any faster.
and i know there are other things i cant think of right now.

but then we have to address the things they did a half@$$ job on.
like the damage model.
ya it looks cool when my bumper starts to fall and it looks pretty real (if you didnt know that he was just doing 150mph when he hit that wall.) and the car starts right up and drives away fine.
and why dont i have to pay to repair my car? its just magically fixed after every race.

I don't mind 72 Skylines, (or 40) - I love it.
But to tell me you can "just remodel based off blah blah" and use it to reason the lack of a 97 Corvette, or an 05 Corvette, or a 09 or 10 Corvette Grand Sport?
How about an 07 Ford Mustang GT500?
A 2000 Camaro Z28? 1997 Camaro SS?
Any Trans Am (Sister car to every Camaro other than 2010)?
Maybe go crazy and find an "oh-so-rare" 99-04 Mustang GT? 03 SVT Cobra?
That's where my main problem comes in.

Sorry, I don't have the time to name the million other (mostly EU) cars.

Sister cars, right? easy to model, they say, compared to separate...

Anyways, other than that, which I expected from the start, my only real disappointment is the Viper ACR not having adjustable down-force from the factory, and to further slap me, I can't even purchase it.

I expected pretty much everything else, especially the car choice.

EDIT: The Ferrari's are probably missing because of that pesky thorn NFS. EA can't handle an even playing field.

totally

Everything in this post is totally devoid of any facts. SONY is hugely to blame, they are the ones that forced 3d, which took precious resources that could have gone to the poor career mode and limited online modes. Sony had a huge hand in the decisions that went into this game. Sony has been making poor decisions since PS3 was announced. Both are to blame.

PD are on record of saying the game was close to done in 08, then Sony mandated 3d and other things that pulled the game in too many directions.

I would like to know why Sony and PD are so constantly portrayed as sparing partners in this mix when KY is actually really high up in the Sony leadership ladder...

If anything I would think KY has started to see things from a 40,000 ft level instead of only being at the ground level and his decisions are mirroring this.

Well I can agree that people have different tastes but I agree that there needs to be more than 700 cars (Nissan/Mazda) and 300 cars (the rest of all the brands).:D
