IS GT4 HDloader/HDAdvance combatible?

The drive that you place the .iso on has to be formatted with hdl/hda in order to play games off of it, and you need a copy of the software on a cd or on your memory card as well. It does not need to be formatted with any version of windows or anything else. Simply plug the HD into your ps2 with a copy of HDA/HDL installed in your ps2 and a formatting screen will come up. It should take no longer than 2 minutes total.

yeah i know that, i play games off my hd, transfer games from the computer and what not. The problem is i have another non related file that is like 2.6gb zipped but i cant unzip it because it exceeds the 4gb limit

Here's a tip. If u have winrar click right onthe zip-file and then Extract to "FOLEDERNAME" In this case it extracted the file directly on your D:
But if you double click on the file and extract it via the prog directly then it copys the file temp in C:winnt\temp and thats the failure

OMG!!! :scared:

I've just spent US$ 90.10 to have my copy of GT4!

I really hope it'll work on my PAL console with HDloader! :ill:

ziggysnorkel you talk about '...a simple and straight forward process'.
I though all I have to do is flag MODE3 on WinHiip when I transfer data from DVD to HD... Am I wrong? Or there's something else? Thanks :)

Remember:

This isn't about pirating or illegally downloading copies from the Internet. This is about owning a legal copy of GT4 and using the HDD to speed up load times.

That's a very fine line you're not crossing. However, I'd be willing to bet that at least 75% of the people that use HDL/HDA, do so for games they've downloaded illegally. Seriously, doing all this stuff to a game just to reduce load times doesn't quite seem worth the effort when you can just pop the disc in and play. Consider the timing issue, as well.. people suddenly asking about HDL/HDA are no doubt doing so right now because of the possiblity they can download the game rather than spending the money on an import.

what is like in my case when the laser of the ps2 can only read the first 4GB of DVDS or 65min of CDS Games and i only can boot with my ps2 small games or the HDLoader cd.
I Have Socom 2 orginal and i cannot play it because hdloader is not combatible with it. It's just laying around

If you're getting a Disc Read Error, you can get Sony to fix it for free, you know. Unless you've got a modchip, then you're screwed.

Generally solved by cleaning the lense platform rails anyway (those two cylinders on which the platform that holds the dvd laser), which is very easy to do - just clean and regrease.

Most of the people having HDL/HDA that I know have it because their PS2 doesn't read any DVDs or not all DVDs anymore. So they are happy if they don't have to change the discs all the time, because their disc drive is really worn out. And this way life is easier, cause you can take your PS2 to a friend and have a match with all your games on the hdd, you don't need to take all the discs with you. The idea of a hdd in the PS2 is really good, it's a shame that there never was some real support for it by sony.

Jedi of course I know you're right.
In Italy we use to say:'Qua, nessuno è nato ieri!' that means 'Nobody, here, is born yesterday!'. We all know that there's a lot of people that use the HD just to download games and play them for free.
But I can assure you that I know some people (and I'm included) that is going to use HDL just to play GT4 three months before it's released here in Italy. HDL is a cheaper and (much) more efficient than a mod: that's why we use it.
I can assure you that having spent so much money (at least 150$) could be very disappointing if, in the end, the game shouldn't work 👎.

i have an old v3 with no gurantee and it's a messiah inside. I also bought a new KHS400c Laser for the PS2 and it only can read 4GB. I'm sure now that this is a mechanical defect, because all laser work in other PS2s.

personlly im in the "my lens doesnt work anymore" boat...
Sony fix it for free?
Maybe in Texas but here in Europe, the charge to fix it.
My friend payed 130 euro's to sony to fix his ps2 witch was only just out of waranty. 130euros almost buys you a new ps2.
Whats even worse is they simply gave him a refurbished ps2, and its lens died after 4 months aswell.
Thats why i just prefer loading asmuch of hd as possible.

Speaking for myself, I picked up the HDLoader over concerns that the excessive disc access needed for a large game like GT4 is going to cause my console to die. By dumping all of my games to the hard drive, I can prolong the life of my console. Since the new ones don't have firewire or hard drive capability, I'd rather keep my older unit running as long as possible.

Hey Fellas,
I'm new here and have a few questions so go easy on me.

I'm i understanding this right?
If i buy the JPN version of gt4 and use hdloader to load gt4 to the hdd, can i play a Japanese game on a USA NON-Chipped 390001?

Has anyone found a way to make it work yet for this game?

I have network adaptor and a 120 gig ata100 hdd laying around and would love to buy the japanese version and make it work.
I just can't wait 3 more months for this fine game. :)

Also, if i am correct that it will work on a NON-Chipped ps2 can someone be so kind to direct me to a good place to buy the game, i've never boughgt a game over seas before.

Thx for all your help and sorry about the novel. ;)

I don't have a chipped PS2 and don't plan on getting one either .

All I have is HDLoader.

Ok sweet.

I just saw you said GT4 Demo, i guess no one has gotten the final realease to work with a loader yet?
BTW which is the best 1 to use hdloader or hdadvanced?
Thx alot for your help dude.

They are pretty much identical. The makers of HD advance copied HD Loader and put up their own image and changed around the words--this was after Sony shut down the maker of HD Loader. It wasn't that his software was illegal, but you know how it is when huge companies get worried about someone trying expose their system flaws.

Anyways, you don't need a modchip to load backup or even different region games. To find out how, go find a tutorial. It's easy.

Thx Ziggy,
Ya i have been looking through all the different sites, but i just wasn't 100% sure if it will play imports.

My main concern is if gt4 will work with it.
I would hate to shell out $90 for an Asian version that wont run. :)

Anyways thx for the help.

Keep in mind that both versions on the web DO NOT run from the HD. Those are direct copies of an chinese/japanese original disc so keep in mind that your original bought copy also might not work when you place it on your HD.

**My head hurts reading this thread :ouch: **

IN PLAIN ENGLISH: If I have a Japanese version of GT4, and the HDAdvance software, network adapter and sony hard drive, what exactly do I have to do (programs and all) to get that game on my hard drive? If possible, step by step instructions would be REALLY nice....

thanks

A friend of mine was kind enough to borrow me his original.

I installed it and it didn't work so I read the game had to be flattened or something because its dual layer so I did that too and it crashes after the disclaimer screen

So there you have it, verified that the original game DOES NOT work with HD LOADER/HD ADVANCE.

Ive burned the version that is not nuked on www.console-news.org.

Burnt it on a dvd9 (DL) disc and booted it on my ps2. It came to the screen where its som legal stuff. Then it went black and didnt load anymore.

Just as it did to someone in this thread that booted the game from a hddloader.
