Is GT5 Over

It's game over for me. Not only have I lost interest in GT5, but gaming altogether. The next game I wil buy is either GT6 or GTA V. GT5 was a nice and dear experience, but I've probably looked at it many flaws for too long now.

'Same old tracks' Hmm lets see - Spa, Daytona, Indy, Monza, Cape Ring, Nurburgring GP/24H, Toscana, Eiger Nordwand, Kart Space plus all of the track generator tracks. And there's nothing wrong with the 'old' tracks either, in fact, many people want all of them back!.
I am one of them.
But....You are wrong cause,
PD and Sony should have gone to e.x. North Pole, build a new track so we can have a new track in GT5... and of course let out of GT series for ever e.x. monza.

Actually now that i think of.... they should build new tracks for every new instalment or DLC so we dont have "the same old boring tracks" like, Spa, Motegi,N'ring, Monza etc and all the legendary GT Series tracks.

IMO obviously he's a forza fun, but "Same old tracks"??? :banghead:
I mean....Kazunori's name starts with K = GT5 sucks! ...Now thats a valid point.

"same old tracks" isn't the problem with GT5 in terms of tracks, it's how few there are and how many old GT tracks they missed off. The game would have had much more life with 10 more tracks, most of which could've come from older GT games.

Maybe we would have had all of those tracks if people weren't so excited about bleeding photo mode locations.
When I think about the amount of work that must have gone into those and the menu backgrounds, it does annoy me.

Pointless levels of detail in premium cars which you only see in photo mode are just as much of a waste. This is supposed to be a driving game, not an "ooh that's shiny and hi res with good shadows, let's pretend it looks like that when it's moving" game.

Mikecustom - I think you have prehaps used a little too much hyperbole in your post:

'200 cars' There's over 1000, and if you are only counting premiums then the number is up to about 270ish, thanks to DLC and free gifts/additions.

'No damage' There is damage, both visual and mechanical. The extent to which cars can be visually be damaged does vary and it generally could do with some improvement but the damage is there.

'Recycled and worst sound ever' Worst sound ever, are you joking me? You should try an 80's/90's arcade game. Also i'll think you'll find pretty much all of the standard sounds are unique, only when you add exhausts do some sound very similar.

'No customisation at all' Again, are you joking me? There's a pretty extensive tuning shop for performance mods and GT Auto lets you paint body's and custom wheels. Standards get custom wheels and wings and premiums can get bodykits and carbon bonnets as well.

'Same old events' Thats how its always been to an extent, but these events usually include new cars and tracks and many of the events are new to GT5, plus there are seasonal events and online, never had either of them in GT4!

'I could do better with their resources' To say that is a real discredit and very disrespectful to the whole of PD who have worked long and hard on GT5, have you seen the bunks under their desks! Don't be stupid, there is no way you would be able to create a better game than PD can, it is a very complex procedure. So please don't talk crap.

I should add that I am not a die-hard fanboy who will stick up for everything in the game, I accept it has flaws but instead prefer to just ignore them where possible rather than ranting and raging about them over the internet. Instead, this post was made for the purpose of stating the facts.

There was only 230 cars to start, the rest where get rehashed for GT4. That's hardly progressive.

The damage modeling is incredibly weak when compared to other games. The damage modeling makes this game feel late 90ish.

The fact that you are comparing the games sound to a 80's/90's arcade game I think says it all. GT5 auto noise often does not sound anything like the real thing.

A handful of rims and maybe a single body kit only on premiums does not make for much customization. Many games not include a livery editor. This should be the standard.

GT5s Single player is poor. It take very little time to complete and the events seem to not be thought out. They seem to be made towards the lowest common denominator. No real challenge.

I can not say much bad about the tracks. Tracks are tracks. There seems to be a good mix of new, real life and old classics. Can't complain here.

Ummm. yes there are the same old cars, over 800 ported from GT4.

The truth of the matter is GT5 has not kept up with the times. They have tried to port over a stand alone PS2 game to the PS3 without taking into account the changing gamer.

Online has completely changed how we play, we want to be able to standout in a sea of millions and we can't do that. Kaz needs to step back from Gran Turismo and rebuild it from scratch and not just try to update the work he has done before. All things rise and fall. Gran Turismo has already peaked arguably with GT4. Heck I had a better time with Prologue.

Don't get me wrong, I play this game daily and love it but it could be better everyone has to admit that. Kas is too in love with his original idea to change.

200 new cars? I don't know about that. I could have swore some of the cars in the premium category were either in previous GTs or were in since the series began. Sure, some are new. But there is definitely no 200 all new premiums that came with the game.

Directly to OP.
There is enogh to play for years.

Sure if you like doing the same things over and over again.

I could spend years finding different ways to clip my toe nails too but i ain't braggin' about it.

The game isn't over until you complete it.

Same with GT6 when that comes out, hopefully as a PS3 title.

GT5 is far from over. Always looking for new ways to keep the game fresh and alive. Been playing from launch too.

Are you trying to convince us, or yourself ?

You don't have to look for new ways to keep a game fresh and alive, except for when that game is already..... over.

Sure if you like doing the same things over and over again.

It was directed to the OP. Looking for new ways to keep it fresh and new is what keeps it alive, for me.

Hate to burst your bubble, but thats what racing is. The challenge is with your opponents. Take it online.

This. But they can use those - GT only in Photomode best quality with a Polygone Level that the ps3 can't handle while Racing - Models for the ps4.

It can only be over if you think it is. Personally I haven't played it in a fair while, I've been playing CoD MW3 and Ace Combat lately, so I guess you could say it is for me. However, if you still play it regularly it's not over for YOU.

GT5 is pretty much over. Now if you still have fun playing with it is something else. The frequency and quality of the DLCs pretty much prompts the end is near!

GT5 is only over to you as a person if you make it so.
I still play it regularly and I also race in a league every sunday as well.
The fact that we don't get regular DLC does not mean that the game is over, we still get seasonals etc and updated OCD to keep it moving. Games survived years in the past without DLC so why the change now?

I will keep playing GT5 until GT6 comes out and I still will afterwards.

^This^ +1 👍

People are still playing GT3 & GT4, so what's the issue?

Aarrh! :banghead: threads like this really annoy me, people moan that gt5 is dead because there isn't regular enough (for them!) dlc or whatever but you know those same people would also moan if dlc was brought out once a month every month that their beloved dlc is being used as a subscription and PD are ripping off their customers by rushing out subpar dlc, its stupid. I'm seriously coming to the conclusion that the very worst thing about gt5 has nothing what so ever to do with PD or Sony, its that so many people who play gt5 then bitch and moan about it online are idiots of the very highest order, I really do dispare. If you enjoy the game play if you don't enjoy it don't play it, no one is going to lose any sleep over it.

Why on earth would anyone do that? I don't understand the logic.

For the fun of it?

Is that daan I hear coming?

Enjoying life is about perspective and attitude. The sooner a person realizes this, the sooner they're "happy." GT5 is only over if you quit. The race is only over if you quit? Are you a quitter?

Might just be me, but not only does the philosophical logic mostly escape me, neither does the conclusion (and subsequent questions asked to illustrate it) seem to be related to that logic.

The door to the answer is over there. Hey look at that*runs away**poof*
