GT5 or nothing for me :( I have other titles but when I need a break from gaming I focus on other things. :)

The last game I spent as much time on as GT5 was "Grand Theft Auto IV". The one that I spent the 3rd most time on was "inFamous". The 4th one was "Metal Gear Solid IV". The 5th one was "Geometry Wars", the first one. Then, it should be "LittleBigPlanet".

GT's last DLC was well over a year after the game first went out on shelves: most games have wrapped all their new content DLC's up well before the year mark

Given that GT5's first DLC was 11 months after release, I'm not seeing where you're going with this. That was mid-October 2011. 7 months later we've had 3 DLC packs, the second of which was pretty light on content. They started later, they finish later.

GT5 started 11 months after release, so they really should be continuing with DLC up to 23 months, no?

This is why I believe that 80% - 90% of games today are 'rushed' into development and spend little time in the oven only to be released tasteless and under-cooked. Example: Need For Speed. IMO: The last good one was Underground 2. They figure "Hey we can patch it and add stuff." No.
The publishers push the developers extremely hard these days for the consoles as they are chasing that 'next big thing' for the console.

They have been doing that for so many years on the PC so it was only a matter of consoles introducing full internet connectivity for it to happen on this format too.

He said GT5's last DLC that was released is the one that is well over a year after the games initial release. He wasn't talking about the first dlc. Why up to 23 months? PD doesn't need to do a year of DLC, especially if they just now started to realize that it may seriously eat into their GT6 content. Or rather expose content that GT6 may have due to indirect evidence or something. Maybe GT6 is coming along faster than they though so DLC isn't something they want to put money in. It could be a number of things to be honest why DLC may have ended, will soon end, or may go on as long as you theorize it should and longer.

Yet again a classic reason why PD should start dev logging with us like many other companies do. However, PD will do what PD deem right for them at the end of the day.

I'd say that with around 300k people still doing the TT's it's still kicking?

Not the kind of dead we're talking about. Obviously people are still playing the game. GTA alone tells the story of that. Read back and you'll see.

We're talking dead as in end of support mainly and when PD say that the Production of GT5 is over. Such as Kaz saying the game is complete or at the level he invisioned it.

GT5 is dead for me because it has become boring, stale. I've done everything there is to do in the game over and over. Now, compared to the "opposition", I've also done everything there is to do in the game over and over, but the new DLC content keeps me coming back for more!

This man knows exactly what we are talking about!!!!

So it's dead, but no so dead that you stop logging into the GT5 forums to complain.

I play almost every day from release and I believe I have experienced about 50% of what the game has to offer.
People only doing nurburgring 550pp road cars with racing softs are bound to get bored.
When I say "night race" or "rain" in a nurburgring lounge everyone is afraid.
When I make a Giulia Zagato or Ferrari only lounge no one joins.
When I change from Deep Forest to Deep forest reverse everyone leaves.
Just try something different you sad sad people...

You my friend are soooo correct....I still play on 2 accounts and have only just begun to play online. BUT, when I create a race no one shows or leaves because I set low pp on sport tires. I believe we will get atleast 2 more dlc's after GTA, then we are done. 'Til then, I'll continue to play and stay away from forza (which I have NEVER played.)

game aint dead for me.........race in a weekly league, and love it.

More DLC and a Livery editor and the game would go to yet another level......If only they (PD) would tell us whats happening....

Singing. The fat lady. NOT........

The bread and butter of this game has always been a huge variety of street cars racing on circuits. Go online some night and try to find a street car room to begin with, then try to find one not on racing tires. Most nights you can't even find one. You can find lots of drag racing on a game that has no drag strip, touge racing on a game with no point to point racing, lots of 900 hp street cars on ovals. The fat lady is singing you just don't want to hear her:sly:

We haven't had any thing significant in the way of content in quite some time. Now that we have GT Academy and we have just had 2.06 there is hope that GT5 is still getting support and maybe we will get some of those "Wish lists" granted.. One could only hope.

I wouldn't agree that the game is dead, It's just that a lot of players aren't using a wide variety of what it offers. As people above have said, When it comes to online play, probably 10% of the tracks actually get used on a regular basis, and pp levels tend to always be the same. Unless people open up to the variety the game offers. We could get plenty more DLC and people will label it as boring without experiencing it all.

I feel like it might be. But to be honest, PD is known for communicating to their fanbase.

If there wouldn't be more DLC or any new future content for GT5, I'm sure that Mr. Yamauchi would've told us already.

My bets are that we'll have one more major update (probably Spec III), and one more DLC car/track pack.

I agree with this.

the last update was nearly half a gig, i promise you that the changes made dont even get close to haf a gig, im 100% sure we have alredy downloaded our next DLC and are just waiting to get it released.

How big was the update that included Spa and Kart Space? Does anyone remember? If the numbers are similar, it's very possible that this new update includes some DLC! :D

The 2.0 update was over a gigabyte large.

I don't want to encourage overly high expectations but 2.06 is sizable.

If I'm not mistaken it's the 3rd biggest update we've received so far.

(1) 2.00....1,192mb (Spec II - Spa, Race Car Pack)
(2) 1.05.......608mb (Seasonal Events, Online Dealership, features, fixes)
(3) 2.06.......475mb
(4) 1.06.......301mb (Remote Racing, features, fixes)
(5) 2.02.......246mb (Car Pack II, standard wheels, features, fixes)
(6) 2.03.......225mb (RouteX, Speed test, Car Pack III, features, fixes)

I don't know the size of 1.10 (Helmets and gear) witch was probably fairly large as well.

Small bug fix updates range from 2mb - 112mb so there are surely unannounced features to this update.

My point entirely, the other big patches all had new features, the gt acadamy cars will mainly be new wrapper textures, so there is definatly more than meets the eye with the last patch

The 2.0 update was over a gig because it had 2 new tracks, one of which was spa with weather and the other kart space with track variations, a car pack and it changed the games physics engine and lots more besides, hence it being called 'spec II', if you just compare the fixes and changes ( not additional content ) between spec II patch and this one you can see there hasnt been anywhere near the same chnges made, Spec II changed a hell of a lot more than the last patch so it still leaves scope for a descent DLC waiting for us..................keep your fingers and toes crossed!!!

Hmmm ladies and and gentlemen I think this theory may have some validity. The numbers don't lie and we can only hope. :)
