Is it me or does anyone else find the standard models more desirable?

I just found out that I am an used car addict. Maybe it's because of the sense of rarity and the fact that they are not easily available through dealerships, or maybe because of the fact that most standards range from the 80s to the 90s (the cars I like the most) but for some reason I simply find them more desirable.

Anyone else feel the same way?
 
i'm using standards a lot more, infact i havn't purchased a car from the dealership yet, all my cars that i've purchased have been new or prize cars.
 
I have bought pretty much only standards for a few reasons:

1 Budget. The game is tight enough on Cr I have to manage funds to keep things moving
2 Prize cars. I hate buying a car only to have it prized to me later on... I would REALLY hate this if it were a premium... cost thing again.
3 Wider variety. When I need to fill a spot to enter a race, shopping the used cars gives me more options and thus usually cheaper (even ignoring they are used) options.

This is unfortuante becaues I don't like the bumper cam view of standards... I really like the cockpit and going to bumper cam I loose sense of my cars space and also the ability to see who's around me via mirrors.

So much for just not using them if I don't like them... it's one have dozen or the other: the game is very hard to continue due to money issues if I buy premium or I have to buy standards :(

i'm exactly the opposite. I only race standards when I absolutely have to.
 
Well when I see an American Muscle car on the list I have to buy it. But I would say I use a premium cars 75% of the time.
 
They have the same physics model. Practically identical.

On that note, I really want an option to remove the horrible segregation of my garage.

I understand that some are unhappy with the final presentation of some of the standards, but I've yet to experience that for myself. Otherwise, they handle the same, there's a wider selection, they look fine in the replays, I'm glad PD included them. I feel the game would lose a lot without them.
 
I love the cock pit view on the premium cars. It's a nice addition, but in the end I prefer the bumper cam. I'm indifferent using premium or standard
 
I don't know why but I really like using standard models. I surely don't mind the lack of detail or the lack of cockpit. i'm letting my b-spec driver use the premium cars.
 
I have so many more Standards. I find buying Standards from the used lot is far more rewarding in terms of the surprise that you could get anything. Plus the cooler cars are generally standard. :)
 
Well.. The only premium cars i purchased are the BMW M5, Z4M Coupe and the M3. And im not even wanting to drive them in coock-pit view. Im using bumper cam for all the cars since it's the only drivable view. Used cars a the shi*. Got the Bugatti veyron and im sad that it doesn't even have reverse lights!! M3 CSL ''00 is just sheer pleasure to drive.

In other words.. Used cars should be alot more accessable. Because im never gona visit the stupid dealership again.
 
I use standard cars 90% of the time because i absolutely love those cars :)

I have like 50 standards and 20 premiums currently. I will probably go on a standard buying spree :lol:

I just can't pass off the standards like they aren't there. They drive just as well as the premiums. Also, the standards have given me an appreciation for bumper cam. Most of the time i use bumper cam instead of cockpit even when driving premiums. :crazy:

I've burned all my credits in the used car lot. (I feel that I will never be able to afford that LFA :()
 
I've got lots of standard cars, but over the past few days I've found mtself gravitating more toward the Premium cars, mostly because I play with a wheel and it's nice to see the interior and everything.
 
Completely addicted to the Used Lot and the Standard cars. Seeing as I prefer roof cam anyhow, I'm right at home. Most of the cool cars are Standards, because the 20/80 divide just makes it so. And very few Standards look poopy.

I did buy one Premium, but eventually when I'm finally as rich as Trump, I'll have all the cars at least once.
 
Im adicted to the used cars too. Im always looking at it to see if there are fun cars, or a car i need to race with.

I think i have like 6 diferent RX-7's lol. Love the car and everytime i go to the used car dealer it seems there is a newer model aviable :-)

Also just got the RUF yellowbird.
 
I'm not big on the cockpit view, it's not as great as anyone says detail/graphics-wise, but I still go for premiums 99% of the time just because I love photo travel :)

I love the standards, a little disappointing that PD didn't update a few cars, like the S7 to the '06 model at least. The '04 model cannot equip any down force parts, just more hp and that just makes it a rocket ready to take off at the slightest bump. But I spend lots of money on standards that I just happen to see come up, waiting to reach high enough level so I can buy the level 23 and over LMP's, seen about 7 of them so far, and I'm just hitting 19 earlier yesterday. I even snatched up the Shuichi Shigeno Trueno, what a sexy automobile. The TommyKaira ZZII is like a mini McLaren with all wheel drive, I don't know, I think I lost myself. I wish they had the cars from GT2 in here too, I miss my '99 Oreca Viper that paint job was EPIC win! Premiums aren't going anywhere so I'll get them when I get through collecting my standards :p, so many cars so little money. The random choice prizes from GT3 should have made an appearance in this game since you have to grind so much, would help you collect those 800+ cars a lot faster and not in multiple colors, like you had to wish on in GT's of the past, lol.

The same goes for me. Ever time I visit the used car section, I buy something. 2 to 1 in favor of used vs. new.:)

I frequently browse the used car lot to see whats in store, most of the time it's the really mainstream family car stuff for me, but occasionally you get a gem.

I picked up a Lancia Stratos yesterday for around 170,000 credits , had to have it, I didn't even know it was in the game (don't remember it being in GT4). Even the fact it was in the most hideous lime green I've ever seen didnt stop me. Not driven it yet though.
 
There always seems to be a better alternative in the premium dealership. I figure the majority of the standards look, drive and sound the same as in GT4, and I didn't buy this game to play GT4.

Though I do appreciate their inclusion. They add variety to the grid that the premium cars alone can't provide.
 
I just bought the Holden Monaro and I was more excited than when I bought the LFA, 458 or any other car for that matter. So yeah maybe. I think it comes down to the car. If you love a car enough, you will love it no matter what. Standard, premium, it doesn't matter
 
Premium is also wasted on me, I love the bumper view!

Standard cars definately rock, my RUF Yellowbird, M3 CSL, R34 Nurburg Edition and E190 Evo II gets driven 10 times more than any premium!
 
I had a brief browse of a few dealers when I first got the game, and have checked twice to see if a car is available as premium (fancied an S2000, and wanted to look at the McLaren) but that's it.

I'm lv19 A-Spec and level 10 B-Spec, and have visited the dealership 3 times. I suppose that puts me in the Used Car junkie section. It's odd, I haven't really considered going to the dealership to buy a car.

I keep wasting my money buying cars I love as soon as they appear in the used lot, has kept my credits low the whole time. Desperately want an Aston V8 Vantage that appeared in there near the start of the game, but I didn't have anywhere near the requisite 334,000 to buy it.

Currently have about 10k :(
