Is it me or does anyone else find the standard models more desirable?

The majority of the fun cars are Standard, so yeah. They still look pretty good, but sadly, not all Standards are created equal. The 'Standard Cars Here' thread in GT5 Photomode Forums has some surprisingly good shots of the much maligned Standard car. On the plus side, though, they all handle and sound great!

👍

Hardly ever use premiums, the cars they chose as Premium just aren't my cup of tea, mostly too modern.

I saw an '83 Levin in the used car lot.
My jaw dropped and i immediately bought it :sly:
Me going to the standard car lot is like a kid in a candy store. I almost always buy something because there's a lot of good cars there. They drive just as nicely as premiums

At the moment I am looking for two more M3 CLS's One for light tuning and one for a full on race tune.

Yep. I do have 2 CSLs

And I'll buy my third as soon as it appears again. Got one white with the carbon roof, its awesome! :) This is pretty much stock.

Got one in dark blue (Blu Neptuno from Maserati) with 445hp. What it does? It's good for the Extreme Schwarzwald League championship :)

Chasing down R8s in the Ring is priceless!

I love interior view so I surely prefer the premium cars in the dealerships. However, I agree it's a nice feeling finding an old rare used car but it doesn't surpass the fact that I don't like spending some millions on an old Bentley Speed 8 when I can get a Mazda 787B with interior view. Maybe when I have enough money to care less about priorities.

I almost always buy something because there's a lot of good cars there.

I'm the opposite, I fear spending money in there incase something better comes along and I don't have enough credits left! So I only ever buy a car (premium or standard) if I really, really, really need to buy it to win a race/series.

Once I've completed all but the endurance races I'm sure that I'll buy up everything that I find in there.

Haven't bought much Standards at all. Only Standards I've bought was the STi 22B and a Honda Civic EG lol. Other than that, all Premium for me. But nice to see some do enjoy the Standards.

it makes me sad, but its either use standards or miss out on the vast majority of the cars i want to drive... soooo standards it is.

and the used car showroom rotation makes it really exciting to see what comes up. just a shame they are a bit poo to look at is all

I love the standards due to the majority of the race cars (BMW LMR, Peugeot 905) are standard. I feel no difference in driving a standard and premium car.

All my favorite cars in gt5 are all standard to...unfortunately :grumpy:

Same. And I like the roof cam position... i like to see some of the car i'm driving, but the cockpit view is so obtrusive.... not at all like drivig a real car

I have bought pretty much only standards for a few reasons:

1 Budget. The game is tight enough on Cr I have to manage funds to keep things moving
2 Prize cars. I hate buying a car only to have it prized to me later on... I would REALLY hate this if it were a premium... cost thing again.
3 Wider variety. When I need to fill a spot to enter a race, shopping the used cars gives me more options and thus usually cheaper (even ignoring they are used) options.

This is unfortuante becaues I don't like the bumper cam view of standards... I really like the cockpit and going to bumper cam I loose sense of my cars space and also the ability to see who's around me via mirrors.

So much for just not using them if I don't like them... it's one have dozen or the other: the game is very hard to continue due to money issues if I buy premium or I have to buy standards :(

I'll give you a tip: try to enter special events section and finish in the best position possible, and you'll get much more cash than from A-spec. And quicker ;)

I'm addicted to buying used cars too, and I have to say most of my best cars so far are Standards. RUF, Renault Turbo, Supra, Subaru Impreza Rally Car ...

There are certainly standard cars that I want.

I don't know that I would go as far as to say that standard cars as a whole are 'more desirable'. Those cars that I want, I would rather have premium, but I am settling for the standard version.

I had a brief browse of a few dealers when I first got the game, and have checked twice to see if a car is available as premium (fancied an S2000, and wanted to look at the McLaren) but that's it.

I'm lv19 A-Spec and level 10 B-Spec, and have visited the dealership 3 times. I suppose that puts me in the Used Car junkie section. It's odd, I haven't really considered going to the dealership to buy a car.

I keep wasting my money buying cars I love as soon as they appear in the used lot, has kept my credits low the whole time. Desperately want an Aston V8 Vantage that appeared in there near the start of the game, but I didn't have anywhere near the requisite 334,000 to buy it.

Currently have about 10k :(

I mostly play B-Spec while I build up my bankroll (level 21 B-Spec, level 7 A-Spec...B-Spec is easier when you work 8am-7pm M-F and you also are busy on the weekends) but I STILL waste so much money on used cars. I've bought maybe two or three cars from the dealerships (Gallardo, Scuderia, maybe one more car that I can't recall) and the rest have been rewards or used cars.

I'm still waiting to see a 2003 4-door G35 (it's what I drive...I have a 2004 that I bought last year with only 31,000 miles on it...I've put 20,000 on it in 14 months) that I can pimp out.

I will buy a 190E at some point (it was my car in college) and a C-Class Benz (two cars ago) and probably buy an M3 Coupe because they don't make a 330CI to replicate my last car. I can't buy my first two cars though, they were SUVs.

I don't know how many times I've bought a car and spent a ton of money pimping it out, only to realize that I wasted $$$ that I should have saved. But oh well, I have a whole garage full of cars now.
